Chapter 5- Brought It All On Myself
(Chapter 5- Brought It All On Myself)
“Let me put up my stuff and we can go.” Reagan told me before opening her locker.
“Sorry Rea you will be alone today. I have to ride with Tyler again.” I stated and rolled my eyes. “Something about having to do everything together since we are now mates.”
“Aww I have to walk alone now?” She whined.
“I’m sorry Rea. If it were up to me I would rather walk with you.” I said.
“You would?”
“Of course, you are way more fun.” I joked.
Reagan laughed along with me as we walked to the parking lot. When we got there Tyler wasn’t at his car yet so Regan stayed too talked with me until he came.
After about 15 minutes everyone had left and the lot was almost empty apart from a few cars at the end. I was beginning to wonder what was taking Tyler so long. Normally he was the first ones to leave the school. He wasn’t the type to hang around.
“Are you listening to me?” Reagan interrupted my thoughts.
“Sorry, I’m just wondering where Tyler is.”
“Yeah it is taking him a while.” She stated.
“You can leave if you want. I’m going to find him.”
“I’m in no hurry, I’ll come with.”
“Ok thanks.” I smiled.
She followed me back inside the school as I began searching. I looked through the halls and then the library along with a few class rooms. I was about to give up when I heard voices coming from the gym as I passed by. I immediately stopped and peered in.
I couldn’t see much due to me trying not to be seen and hiding behind a wall but what I did see surprised me. Tyler was standing in front of Megan trapping her against to bleachers with nowhere to go.
I silently wondered what she was doing there with him. She had a mate, Alex. Where was he at? Was Tyler seeing her or something? Maybe this was a private meeting.
I was just about to turn and walkway when I heard another male voice speak. I moved around the wall a little more to see who it was.
Alex was standing beside her looking worried. I could now see the expression on Tyler’s face and looked furious. I wonder what had got him so mad. Was it because he interrupted him and Megan?
“What do you see?” Regan whispered.
“I’m not sure.” I said truthfully. Who knows what is going on here?
Alex looked like he was confessing something to Tyler but he still looked livid. Suddenly Tyler pulled back his hand and smashed his fist into the bleachers breaking them. I immediately shrieked back in fear even though it wasn’t me who it was aimed at.
“How could you be so stupid?” Tyler roared.
“We’re sorry. We didn’t know.” Alex said in defense.
“It’s a good thing you told me or this might have ended a little differently for you.” He spat. “You are never to talk to my mate again unless I give you permission. Is that clear?”
They both nodded quickly to afraid to speak from the looks of it. I was also speechless. Tyler knows and now I’m screwed. What is going to happen now? I have never seen him so mad. Was he mad at me too?
‘That was a dumb question of course he’s made at you Kiela.’ I said to myself. ‘You were the one who was asking questions about your real mate. You were supposed to leave it alone.’
At that moment I was Tyler walking my way. I wasn’t sure if he had seen me yet but I wasn’t going to stick around to find out. I turned on my heel fast then I thought possible and ran dragging Reagan with me.
“What is the matter with you?” She said breathless once we reached the lot again.
“I’ll explain later. Right now I just need you to run.” I said. “Follow me.”
“Aren’t we going home?”
“No I’m sure that’s the first place he will look.” I replied running into the woods.
I ran and ran until I found I found a spot to rest that was far enough away. Once I caught my breath I realized there was water running from somewhere. Without speaking a word I followed the noise and what it led to take my breath away.
I was in the very same place that was in my dream. I had never been here before but somehow I was able to find it. I stood along the river bank watching the water wash down quickly passing by.
“Why do you walk off like that?” Regan asked.
“This is the place.” I stated. “The place from my dreams.”
She walked next to me and watched on with me. She looked just as at peace as I was here. The sound of the water was so calming and relaxing. It put my mind at ease.
“What do you think it means?” She asked.
“I wish I knew.” I admitted.
All this was a bit strange. Especially that I mysteriously wound up here. That is just too coincidental that it happened to be from my dream.
“It makes you wish you never had to leave don’t it?” She said.
“It does.” I agreed.
I easily sat down in the same spot I was in during my dream and relaxed with Reagan following.
“Are you going to tell me what that was about a while ago?” She asked.
I suppose I do owe her an explanation. “Tyler knows.”
“What? How?” She gasped.
“He must have threatened Megan or Alex because that was who he was talking to. He sounded mad Reagan.”
“Oh man Ky this isn’t good.” She said worried. “What will he do?”
“Worse case?” I asked not giving her time to answer. “He will go tell daddy Alpha and me and my family will be killed or thrown from the pack.”
“This is all my fault. I never should have told you about them.” She confessed.
“It’s not your fault it’s mine. I should have let it go like I was supposed to.” I said guilty.
At this point I had no idea what to do. I didn’t know if I should just run and never look back or return home and face to music. If I chose the first one then I would be leaving my family behind to fend for themselves and there is no telling what Alpha Steven will do to them.
If I chose the second then maybe they would only punish me and leave them out of this. It wasn’t their fault I didn’t listen. Why was it so hard to let this go? I just had to go looking for trouble.
“What are you going to do now?” Regan asked.
“Go home.” I replied sadly before standing up. “I can’t run from my problems.”
She nodded her head and walked with me until we were out of the woods. On our way home we walked in silence. Mainly because I wasn’t thinking of all the possible way this could go for me. I had to think of a way to keep Reagan out of this. I don’t want her in trouble for introducing me to them.
Once we reached her house we said our goodbyes and I continued on to my place. When I got there I immediately spotted Tyler’s car in the drive. He wasn’t in it so that means he was in my house. There is no telling what he told my parents. I bet they were mad too. I was in trouble for sure.
I stood outside mentally preparing myself for what was about to take place. You know that saying ‘Now you’ve made the bed, you have to lay in it.’ That’s exactly what was entering my mind at the moment. I had brought all of this on myself.
I slowly walked to the door and placed my hand on the knob. I hesitantly twisted it and pushed it open. I instantly spotted my parents and Tyler setting on the sofa talking. As soon as they saw me they jumped to their feet and ran to me.
“Where have you been, I’ve been worried sick?” Mom yelled then hugged me.
“Do you have any idea what time it is Kiela?” Dad angrily asked. “You were suppose to be here two hours ago.”
What? Had I really been gone that long? I wondered while thinking over the evens of this evening.
Let’s see I spent about fifteen minutes waiting for Tyler then another fifteen or so looking for him. After that I ran in the woods for a while but I couldn’t have been there that long right? I guess I lost track of time.
I can’t believe I didn’t notice the sky darkening. I suppose I was just too worried about what was going to happen when I got home.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t realize it was so late.” I admitted.
“Where did you go?” Tyler interrupted.
I stared at him in silence trying to decipher his mood before answering him.
“I went for a walk.” I mumbled.
“Well don’t ever do that again without telling me. You could have been attacked by rouges or something.” He lectured.
This was Tyler’s Alpha side coming out, I could tell. He was starting to fit into his role now. The only thing that was missing was his wolf and I am the only person who could give him that. I shivered at that thought but I wasn’t sure if it was in a good way or bad way though.
“Did you hear me?” Tyler said seriously.
“Yes and I’m sorry, ok?” I replied in annoyance.
I understand worried, but God get off my case already. I get it. Don’t go into the woods alone.
“Um… we’ll just give you some time.” Mom said looking between me and Tyler. “Come on Jack.”
They both turned and walked to the kitchen. Maybe they didn’t want to see me get lectured again or maybe they were just trying to be respectful of the Alpha. Who knows? Little did they know privacy is not exactly what I wanted with him right now.
Once they were out of sight Tyler grabbed my arm and pulled me to my room. How he knew where my room was I don’t know or at least I didn’t until I got there.
There were a few my bags packed lying on my bed. I notice a few of my things missing from around my room and realized what was in them.
“Why is my stuff packed?” I asked.
“Because you are coming with me back home.” He said still in serious mode.
I guess my running off must have done something to him because sweet, friendly Tyler was gone and now Alpha Tyler was here. It’s safe to say I didn’t like Alpha Tyler nearly as much.
“But the weekend’s not over.” I said. “Thought I you said I could move in after the weekend?”
“That was before you ran and talked to your new friends.” He said revealing the anger her was holding inside.
I didn’t know what to say in my defense so I didn’t respond. Yes it’s true I ran but I did come back but as far as the new friends thing I didn’t have an excuse for that.
“What you’re not even going to defend your actions.” He asked.
“Why would I when you’ve clearly already made up your mind about me.” I said defeated.
The serious look on his face faltered for only minute, long enough for me to see regret but then it was back up again. If he felt bad for this then why do it? Why not just let me be?
Tyler walked to my bed and picked up my four bags and walked past me out of the room. After hearing the front door open and close I felt tears seep from my eyes. I guess this whole thing affected me more than I realized. I never expected Tyler to be so cold and detached. I guess I was the one who caused it though.
When I heard the front door open again I quickly wiped away the tears from my eyes and composed myself.
Tyler walked back into my room and put my hand in his. “Come one before we’re late for dinner. Your parents will meet us there.”
I nodded my head and followed behind him quietly. I was sure if I said anything the tears would return once more so I avoid that at all cost. Some things are better left unsaid.

Tyler’s POV
“Where have you been, I’ve been calling you for over an hour.” My mom said to me once we were in the kitchen alone.
“Sorry I was with Kiela. I must not have heard it.”
“Well I would have called her phone but I don’t know her number.” She fussed.
I pulled and iphone out of my pocket and dialed her number then hung up after the second ring.
“Now you do.” I stated.
“You have her phone?” Mom asked.
“Yeah I just got it for her yesterday but haven’t given it to her yet.” I replied. “That’s what I was going to do today before she-“
I quickly stopped before I said anymore. My parents didn’t know about Kiela’s latest adventure and I wasn’t ready to tell them yet. I was perfectly able to handle it on my own. After all if I was going to be Alpha I need to learn how to handle my mate right?
“Before she what?”
“Nothing, it’s not important.” I said.
She didn’t press me on the matter since she was in a hurry to get everything on the table. Apparently half the kitchen staff was sick with the flu and was out this week so my mom was taking over.
“Need any help?” I offered.
“No I’ve got it. Just go entertain our guests. It will be ready in a minute.” She replied taking some food into the dining room.
I followed behind her and took my seat next to Kiela. She looked so beautiful setting there playing with her fork. I could easily tell she was board. The adults were too busy discussing pack matters and she had nothing to do. Truth be told she looked like she didn’t even want to be here. I hope that’s not the case because I was really glad she would be staying with me now. It would hopefully bring us closer together. That is if she decides to forgive me for earlier.
I hate that I had to be firm with her but there is no telling what could have happened to her today. When she vanished like that I got scared that she might be attacked or she found her true mate.
If anything ever happened to her I would lose it and that’s the truth. This girl really had no idea how much I liked her. I could only hope she feels the same.
The only way I would ever have a fighting chance with her against her mate is if she and I mated. If we don’t then I will lose her and if that happened I would kill him.
It wasn’t fair that fate didn’t pair us as partners because I already love her so much. I‘ve loved her since the day I first saw her in Ms. Ingles class. It was so hard for me to even talk to her then and as the years passed it didn’t get any easier.
If I hadn’t told dad I wanted her as my mate then I probably still couldn’t talk to her. Now I know that I have to. What better way to get over not being able to talk to someone than becoming mates?

Kiela’s POV
“So Kiela, I heard you’re moving in tonight. You must me very excited.” Karen smiled.
“I am.” I lied.
Everyone was sitting around the den talking after dinner except me. I chose to tune out of the conversation because it wasn’t anything I was interested in.
“Tyler why don’t you show her around the house, make her feel more at home.” She suggested.
“Sure.” He smiled. “Come on.”
I forced myself to look happy and stood with him. He grabbed my hand and led me through the house. He showed me the huge outdoor pool they had and the library along with a game room where most of the pack members/ friends of his hung out when they were over and a few other places to.
Just when I thought the tour was almost done he pulled me into a hallway of doors we hadn’t been yet. I followed him to dark wooden door at the end and waited until he opened it. Once he switched on the lights it showed to be bedroom. It was very nice one at that.
It had a big king size bed in the middle with a huge walk-in closet in the corner, it even had its own bathroom. There was a bookshelf full of books along the wall and beside that was a desk with a laptop on it and don’t even get me started on the TV. That thing was huge, at least 50 inches and it was mounted to the wall in front of the bed. How convenient is that?
“Do you like it?” He sounded hopeful.
“Are you kidding who wouldn’t?” I gushed. “Is it yours?”
“Ours actually.” He smiled.
I froze at his words and forced myself to look at him.
“O…our?” I gulped.
“Yeah, it’s big enough for two.” He joked.
“It’s big enough for an army but that’s not my point.” I said.
Tyler just looked at me confused.“What?”
“Isn’t it a little soon to be sharing a room? We don’t really know each other that well.”
“But isn’t this the solution to that?”
“Um…I think it’s still to soo-“ I said before I was cut off.
“Tyler, Kiela’s parents are leaving.” Karen yelled.
I didn’t bother to finish what I was saying and left to go meet my parents. They were standing by the door thanking the Alpha and Luna for dinner when I got there.
“Bye sweetheart. We will come by to visit you and you do the same ok.” Mom said trying hard not to cry but letting a tear slip by.
I threw my arms around her and hugged her tight. “I will mom.”
“We’ll miss you Ky.” Dad said as I pulled away from mom.
“I’ll miss you too and I love you both.” I sniffled and realized I was crying.
“We love you to.” They said hugging me one last time before leaving.
I watched them until they were in the car and driving off toward home. The home I wouldn’t be staying at anymore, the one that was with my parent’s. That was part of my life was over now and this was my new reality, it was here with Tyler and his parents.
“Do you want to watch a movie or something?” He asked.
“Yes.” I quickly agreed not in any hurry to go to bed.
Tyler and I walked back to his- I mean our room. He handed my bags and left for me to get changed. I’m glad he was considerate enough to give me some privacy. That gave him a few points in my book.
I found my pair of favorite pajama’s and put them on then took down my hair to brush it through it. If I didn’t do that before bed then it would big on big tangle when I woke up in the morning.
“Can I come in?” He asked cracking the door so I could hear him.
“Yeah.”
He opened the door and walked on into the room. He walked inside the closet getting some clothes and then disappeared inside the bathroom. In a matter of minutes he was back out in a white fitted shirt and a pair of pajama bottoms. I had to admit he looked pretty good to me but I should be thinking about that.
He turned the TV to Pay Per View and began scrolling through the movies. “See anything you want to watch?”
“Ghost Rider 2.” I replied watching the movies pass by.
“Ghost Rider 2 it is.” He smiled. “Great movie.”
“I haven’t seen it yet.” I admitted.
“Then I will be sure not to ruin it for you.” He chuckled.
He walked to the bed and sat down getting comfortable while I just stared at him.
“I’m sticking to what I tried to say earlier. I think it’s too soon to share a room.” I confessed crossing my arms.
“Ok, then how about this.”
He picked up a few pillows from the bed and lined them in the middle.
“What are you doing?”
“This way you have your side and I have mine. No crossing over.” He said. “The bed is big enough for us to have our own personal space.”
I thought about it for a minute and realized that it would be ok and agreed.
“Ok but we stick to our own sides.”
“Deal.” He said.
I joined him in the bed but stayed as close to my side as possible. I didn’t want any accidents happening throughout the night. I snuggled myself into the pillows and turned on my side to watch the movie. I had to admit he was right about the movie, it was pretty good. It was a lot different than the first one but in a good way.
Right about the time they kidnapped the kid and took him to place to meet this dad I felt myself growing tired. I tried as hard as I could to stay awake but my body was working against me. Ten minutes later I gave up the fight and closed my eyes sinking into the darkness.
