(Chapter 22- Never Letting Go)

Regan and I stood outside of Jeremy’s house waiting for him to make sure the place was empty before we went in. With the spy in the pack still I couldn’t risk being seen by anyone. No one could know I was here. We had already changed and were waiting in our human forms Jeremy came outside and rushed to me.

I only had an hour to spend with him before it was time for me to leave so I wanted to make the most of it.

“Kiela.” He smiled wrapping his arms around me tight. “I’ve missed you.”

“I’ve missed you to.” I replied burying my face into his shoulder inhaling his scent.

This is what I had missed, being in his arms. I feel so complete here, like it’s where I have always belonged. He placed small tiny kisses all over my head while holding me to him in a sweet loving gesture. I just couldn’t get enough of him.

Regan awkwardly cleared her throat reminding us she was still there and I pulled away from him blushing. I hadn’t meant to ignore her I just got so caught up in the moment I just forgot about her being there.

“Sorry.” I mumbled.

“Regan this is Jeremy. Jeremy this is Regan.” I said introducing them.

“Hi Regan.” He smiled politely. “Any friend of Kiela’s is a friend of mine.”

“Or a mate of mine.” A familiar voice said.

I whirled around to the person behind us and came face to face with Jared, Regan’s mate. What was he doing here? Oh no is he the spy! But I didn’t see him here before. I don’t understand.

“This is your mate?” Jeremy asked pointing to Regan out of surprise.

“She is.” He smiled walking around us to kiss Regan’s surprised face.

She pulled back and looked at him confused. “Wait I thought you were visiting your cousin today? He’s in this pack?”

Um Jared has a cousin here? I’m confused to.

He chuckled and turned to Jeremy then back to her. “Jeremy is my cousin babe.”

“What?” She gasped. “I never knew that.”

“His dad and my mom are brother and sister.” Jared explained.

“Wow I didn’t see that happening.” I laugh.

“Me either.” Regan agreed.

“What are you doing here anyway?” He asked her.

She looked down a little nervous before explaining. “I came with Kiela to find Jeremy. Her mate.”

“I take it Tyler doesn’t know.” He said.

“No.” She shook her head. “Are you mad?”

He sighed. “No I’m not mad but I don’t want you involved in this. They don’t need to know you have any part of it if they are found out.”

“I’m sorry.” I interrupted. “I asked her to help me.”

“I just don’t think it’s fair that Kiela has to mate with someone she was never meant for.” She stated.

I really hope I didn’t get her in trouble. I would have known the circumstances beforehand I never would have asked her to do this for me. Now I kind of feel bad.

He stroked her face looking at her with nothing but pure love. Seeing them now I don’t think they could ever be mad at each other.

“I know babe but let them handle it ok?” He asked softly.

I hope she listens to him because I’m starting to agree with him. I don’t want her involved anymore than in this than she already is.  

She gave a reluctant nod and offered a small smile. “Ok.”

“We’ll let you two have some alone time.” Jeremy said to them taking my hand.

I was starting to feel like we were intruding on their moment.

“Come on.” Jeremy smiled pulling me along with him to the house. “I’ve got some things to tell you.”

“Me too.” I replied nervously. I hope he took the news well. This could either make or break our relationship. I hope it wasn’t the latter.

He led us inside the house and up to his room where I first met him. Those scenes from that day came rushing back in. To think I walked in on my mate about to sleep with someone else made me shiver with disgust. That’s something I don’t ever care to relive again.

I took a seat on his bed and crossed my legs in front of me as he sat next to me.

“First I want to do this.” He said leaning in and connecting our lips.

The familiar sparks flowed through my body taking me to new highs that I’ve never had with anyone else. His kisses were like a new drug to me. They took me to levels I never wanted to come down from. I wanted him and need him more than ever before. I poured all my love into that one kiss afraid it may be my last one after today because we don’t know what tomorrow holds.

“Wow.” He smiled. “I think someone missed me.”

“Very much.” I agreed.

“I missed you more.”

“Doubt it.” I chuckled. “So what did you want to tell me?”

I smiled brightly at me and took my hands in his. “Dad passed on The Alpha Position to me.”

“Oh my gosh.” I squealed. “That’s great. I’m really happy for you.”

“You know what this means now?” He asked.

I shook my head.

“You never have to leave. I have been busy recruiting new members to the pack and our numbers are going back up. We can protect ourselves from anyone wanting to take you away from me.”

I swallowed the hard lump forming in my throat. I have to tell him before he gets anymore carried away then he already is.

“I don’t know if you’ll want me after I tell you my news.” I stated.

“What do you mean?” He asked. “Nothing you could do would make me not want you.”

“We’ll see.”

“Kiela what is it?” He asked impatiently.

I placed a hand on my stomach preying her would take this well. If he didn’t I don’t know what I would do.

“Jeremy….I’m pregnant.”

He looked beyond shocked by my words as if he was still trying to process what I told him. He offered no response in return.

“Jeremy say something?” I said watching his reaction closely.

“Y-you’re pregnant?”

I nodded my head nervously. Come on Jeremy give me something here.

“You mean I’m going to be a dad?” He asked breaking out into a smile.

I didn’t know how to respond to him. I could lie to him and say yes because I didn’t know the truth. It would be wrong for me to get his hopes up over this.

“That’s the other part.” I confessed. “I don’t know.”

“What?” He snapped.

“Look Jeremy you knew when I came here I had been with Tyler to so there is no way to determine who the father is.” I explained.

“So it could be Tyler’s?” He asked obviously unhappy about it.

I nodded my head unable to think of a way to make this situation any better.

He looked lost. “I just don’t know what to say.”

“Neither do I.” I replied with a broken voice.

Tears started to seep from my eyes. This is it. This is where he is going to reject me. He will crush my soul and leave me one big broken mess.

“I’m so sorry but I already love this baby so much.” I sobbed. “I just can’t give my baby up. Not after I know how it feels to lose one.”

That instantly got his attention. “What? You lost one?”

I nodded. “It was twins but one died after the rogues took us.”

He now looked as broken as I did. “Oh Kiela I’m so sorry.”

He wrapped his arms around my body to comfort me.  I laid my head on his shoulder and let out all my pain I’ve held in for my lost child. The baby I would never get to know.

“Do you hate me?” I asked struggling to speak.

“I could never hate you Kiela. You are mine. You are my mate. I’ll love you forever.”

“But what about the baby?”

“The baby.” He sighed. “I’ll love just the same. I don’t want to know whose it is. I think some things are better left unknown.”

“I agree.” I nodded.

I didn’t want to know because I knew it would change things for us. If the baby was Tyler’s I don’t know if I could keep him or her away from their dad. I would be right and I would be eat up with guilt for the rest of my life and that no way to live. I could do that to Tyler after all he’s been through with me. He hasn’t left my side since we learned about the babies.

“Thank you.” I mumbled.

“Thank you for giving us a baby. Sure it’s a little early for us but it was bound to happen sometime.”

‘Time’ Those words range in my head. Oh no what time is it? I lifted my head from Jeremy and lifted the wrist watch on his hand. It’s already been an hour? How did that happen? I‘ve gotta hurry and get back.

“I’ve gotta go.” I shouted quickly getting to my feet.

“What? Why?” He asked getting to his feet to stop me.

“Tyler will be back soon. He can’t know I’m here or he will flip.” I explained.

“Who cares? I’ve got a pack now. You don’t have to go back.” He said seriously.

“But I made a promise to Tyler. I told him I would stay until we found his mate. I can’t go back on my word now.” I argued.

“Kiela you’re not leaving. You are my mate.” He stated with a rising voice.

“I have to.” I replied.

A know on the door interrupted us.

“What?” Jeremy shouted in irritation.

A girl with Blonde hair cautiously opened the door and stepped inside the room. Who was she? I’ve never seen her before.

“I’m sorry.” She quickly apologized. “I didn’t mean to interrupt. I just heard some shouting and I wanted to make sure everything was ok.

“It’s fine.” He replied. “Just a disagreement.”

I’ll say. Now who is she?

“Kiela this is Sloane. Sloan this is my mate Kiela.” He said.

“Nice to finally meet you.” She smiled taking a step close to me to hold out her hand.

“Nice to meet y-” I replied before  getting cut off.

“That smell.” She said. “I know it from somewhere?”

“What?” I shook my head confused.

“The smell on your clothes.” She explained. “The only other time I’ve smelled it was in the woods before I was-“

She cut off and gasped. “You’re from his pack?”

“What?” I said still confused.

“My mate.” She whispered.

Her mate was in my pack? How could she know that just by a scent? Besides the only person I’ve been around in these clothes is Tyler so- Oh my gosh! Tyler. Of course! It all makes since now. She’s Tyler mate!

“Tyler is your mate?” I asked.

“I don’t know his name just his scent.” She explained horrified.

Why is she acting like this is the worst thing for her?

“Then this is our solution.” Jeremy said. “We’ll just introduce them and you’re free.”

“No Jeremy I can’t. I told you.” She said.

She can’t what does that even mean? What is preventing her from going to him?

“I’m sorry. I need to go think about this.” She said rushing from the room.

I tore away from Jeremy and started to run after her but he stopped me again.

“Jeremy we have to go after her. She is his mate.” I yelled.

“Let them work it out. It’s not your job to fix everything. You’re my mate and I can’t let you go back to him.” He shot.

“Let go of my arm or I will scream this place down.” I spat.

He looked unfazed by my words. “Go ahead. No one will go against me now that I’m Alpha.”

“So what you’re just going to hold me here forever?”

“If I have to.” He said. “You’ve been gone too long. I won’t let it happen again.”

What is wrong with him? This isn’t how Jeremy acts. I think becoming Alpha’s has changed him or something. It made him more possessive. How will I ever get away from him now? Tyler is not going to be happy.

Cliff hanger!!!  Sorry guys.  I’ll explain more in the next chapter. Also, sorry for any mistakes. I’ll go back and edit soon. So tell me what you think so far. I can’t wait to read your comments!

Also don’t read too much into this. Just because they know who Tyler’s mate is don’t mean they will meet or accept each other. So no one get mad at me. It’s still undecided what I will do.
