Chapter 13- Trouble
(Chapter 13- Trouble)
“Why didn’t you call me as soon as you got back?” Regan Demanded.
“Because I had a lot to deal with and didn’t think about it.” I explained softly.
She looked at me sympathetically as she nodded her head. The past hour I have been sitting here telling her everything that happened this week with Jeremy and what happened when I came home. I know she felt bad for me but the last thing I wanted was pity and it seemed that was she felt for me.
“So how can I help?” She asked.
“I don’t know unless you can help with this whole mate thing.” I stated.
Regan broke out in a grin as looked at me and I knew then that she already had something in mind.
“Uh oh, I know that look.” I said.
Regan pulled her phone out of her pocket began scrolling through her contacts. “I have a cousin in Black River Pack that knows all the neighboring packs and I bet he is willing to help us out.”
“And?” I asked. Knowing Regan there is something more to be said.
She chuckled before speaking. “Well he kind of thinks…he’s psychic.”
“There it is.” I laughed.
“What?” She replied innocently.
I shook my head at her. “There is always something you leave out. I could tell by the look on your face this time.”
“So what’s the big deal?” She asked.
I tried not to get cracked up as I spoke to her. “You think Blaine, your eccentric cousin, who thinks he was Bruce Lee in a past life, will be able to help us?”
“I know it sounds crazy but he did predict a few things that came true.” She defended.
“Like?”
“Well…” She began to think. “He said the Giants would win the Super Bowl this year and they did.”
“Lucky guess.” I stated.
“He also predicted the Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart scandal.” She added.
“Really?” I asked unconvinced.
“What do we have to lose Kie?” She asked. “It’s better than nothing.”
I smiled in appreciation at her willing to help. I suppose most people wouldn’t care and would go on living their own lives. I’m lucky to have a friend like her.
I nodded my head. “Ok, let’s do it.”
“Great.” She said before putting her phone to her ear. “Let me tell him we’re coming.”
I sat silently as she called Blaine to tell him the news. I used to know him when he was in our pack about 6 years ago. After his dad died his mom went off and found her true mate as well and moved with his pack a few miles away. Next to ours and Jeremy’s pack they are the next strongest pack around.
“Hey Blainey what’s up?” She teased knowing he hated that name.
He said something on the other end of the line I could quiet make out but whatever it was Regan started laughing at him.
“I know, I know but we need the help of your amazing psychic ability.” She joked.
“No, I’ll explain it when we arrive today.” She said.
He said something back to her before she said goodbye and hung up.
“He will be waiting for us.” She said putting away her phone.
“Then let’s get started so we can get there before dark.” I said getting up.
“Wait, whose car are we taking?” She asked.
“Not mine because I don’t have one.” I said.
“Ok, we’ll take my dad’s. He won’t mind.” She stated.
I agreed and with that we left for her house to get the car. I really hoped this worked out for us because at this point I was willing to try anything.

“Well that was a bust.” I sighed.
“Well we did get some useful information.” She claimed.
Has she lost her mind or what?
“Rae, tall and blonde hardly classifies as useful information.” I said. “A fourth of the population fits that description.”
“Yeah but even so it’s still useful.” She defended.
“If it’s even true.” I mumbled.
As of now we have no more leads. I kind of figured this was a long shot but I guess I still came here looking for a miracle anyway. I just wish there was some way to figure this all out. Why can’t anything in my life be simple?
“Come on. We should head back.” She said standing up.
“Yeah, I guess so. I’m sure Tyler is wondering where I am.” I stated.
I had taken us two hours to get here and another hour to talk to Blaine. It was now dusk out and in less than 30 minutes it would be completely dark. The fact that we were in an unfamiliar place and surrounded by nothing but woods scared me a little and I couldn’t wait to get home. Well Tyler’s home really. Either way I felt safer there.
The walk back to the car was a long one and it felt like it would never end. Regan searched through her purse for her keys a minute outside the car before finding them and opening up the door and getting in.
She switched on the ignition but the car didn’t want to start and she gave it a minute before trying it again. Still with no luck she grumbled something and got out of the car to lift the hood.
“Rae do you even know what you’re doing under there?” I called out through my window.
“No.” She admitted.
“Hold on, I’m coming.” I said getting out of the vehicle.
She was standing over the hood with a mini flashlight wiggling some stuff she had no idea what it was looking frustrated. It was probably useless but I guess I would be doing the same thing if I was her. This was a major inconvenience.
“Need some help?” I asked.
She looked at me with hope in her eyes. “Know anything about cars?”
“Um well…I know it has to have a battery to start so let’s check that.” I guessed.
She looked back down at it and pointed to some wires attached to it and pointed. “I’ve wiggling these but it hasn’t helped.”
“Well…”
“We’re stuck aren’t we?” She asked.
“Very likely.” I stated.
“Great.” She smiled sarcastically.
We both gave up on the car and stood there in silence until I got an idea.
“Hey doesn’t your dad happen to have triple A or something?”
Almost as if a light bulb came on she ran to door and pulled it open. After digging though some stuff she got out and ran to me with a card in hand.
“You were right.” She smiled. “I’ll call.”
I nodded as she typed in the number on her phone and explained to the guy on the phone what happened and our location.
While she was still talking my phone began to ring and I had a feeling of who it might be and sighed. Let’s hope I don’t get blessed out this time.
“Hello?” I answered.
“Where are you?” He asked slightly upset.
“Calm down Tyler. I just went somewhere with Regan and we are having some car problems.” I said.
“Well where are you and I’ll come get you.” He replied.
“Its fine, triple A will be here soon. I’ll see you when I get there.” I said.
“Kiela it’s not safe for you to be out somewhere alone without protection. I told you there are rogues on the loose.” He argued.
“I’ll be fine, stop worrying.” I sighed.
“At least tell me where you are.”
I seriously thought about just hanging up the phone but I knew he would just call back and I didn’t feel like having a fight when I went home so I complied.
“I’m in Ridge town about 70 miles out.”
“What are you doing all the way out there?” He asked obviously not pleased with that.
“I’ll explain later I have to go.” I said quickly trying to get off the phone.
“Ok, just be careful.” He said just before I hung up.
I felt bad for being this way with him but I can’t allow myself to get close to him or even rely in him. I’m afraid if I did I would see the nice guy I know Tyler really is and be vulnerable to him. I think being away from Jeremy has made me incredibly week because I would normally never even think that way.
“They will be here within the hour.” Regan said brining me out of my thoughts.
“Thank goodness.” I yawned. “I’m tired.”
“Me too.” She agreed.
While waiting for assistance to show up Rae and I decided to sit in the car and bundle up until they got there. I had to say it was cold even for October. It had to be at least 50 degrees right now.
At some point, I don’t know when we must have dozed off because the next thing I knew the sound of wolves howling woke us up.
“What was that?” Rae asked.
I looked around the forest a little frightened and unsure. “Wolves.”
“Maybe it’s someone from Blaine’s pack.” She said.
“Let’s hope.” I said a little afraid.
Once again the howling sounded but became even louder and closer this time. I was growing incredibly worried now.
“Kiela-”
“Ssh.” I said bring a finger up to my mouth. “Keep quiet until we know who it is.”
She nodded in understanding and didn’t say a word.
“Do you smell that?” A voice said.
“Yeah, wolves. Check that car over there.” Another one said.
My heart started beating a million miles a minute when I heard that and ducked even further down in my seat hoping to not be spotted. Regan quickly followed.
“Hello ladies.” The voice said right next to us.
Dang it, we were caught. Please don’t let them be rogues.
I raised my head up immediately after Regan and meet him eye to eye.
“What’s the matter? Cat got your tongue?”
“Who are you?” I asked.
“We’ll be asking the questions from now on.” He said opening the door and dragging me out.
“Over here.” He called out to his friends. “There are two of them.”
Again I looked back at my captor only this time I was able to take in his appearance. He had on a pair of dark scruffily jeans and a red as blood t-shirt one. He looked pretty built and fairly intimidating to. Defiantly not someone I wanted to mess with.
I felt his hand move to my neck as he pushed back my hair and sniffed me.
“Who’s your mate?” He asked.
I though twice about answering him because I didn’t want him to use it a leverage for anything.
“Answer me!” He demanded.
Who should I say? Tyler or Jeremy?
“He has to be and Alpha.” He said. “Your scent is strong.”
I still refused to say anything and just stood there starring into his demanding eyes.
“Ok fine, have it your way. “ He smirked. “Either you tell me or I kill your friend over here.”
With those words I blurted out what he wanted to know. “Tyler Thompson and Jeremy Kingsley.”
“Would you look at that?” His friend smiled. “I think we just found our pot of gold.”
“Blake will love this.” He said.
He friend nodded before speaking again. “Come on let’s get these two back to the house and reap our reward.”
It was now that I knew we were in trouble and something bad was about to go down.
“You can’t do this. They will come looking for me.” I shouted.
The guy holding me by the arm looked down at me with an evil smile on his face. “Oh, I’m counting on it.”
I struggled to get free of his grasp causing his grip to tighten even more.
“Knock her out.” Someone ordered.
And that was the last thing I remembered before blacking out completely.

A/N
I know there are some errors but I wrote this in a bit of a rush and I apologized greatly. I promised you an update today and that what I’m giving you. Please forgive the shortness of the chapter. I really wanted to make it longer but I stayed with my grandmother/Nanny again today and I didn’t have as much writing time as I’d hoped. Please just bare with me for the next few weeks because I am going to be quiet busy and update may be delayed. With so much going on I’m feeling a bit over whelmed and I’m doing the best I can at the moment.
Thanks for being so understanding and I can’t wait to read your comments about the chapter!
