15 ☽ Shrugs of something

Chapter 15

"Blake? What are you doing here?" I ask.

My eyes quickly scan him and notice sweat sticking to his body. Has he been running?

"Shift," he says, walking inside my room.

"He knows?" this time, Theo asks.

Blake's eyes move from me to him, and they exchange a what-the-fuck-are-you-doing-here kind of look.

Theo is still lying flat on his stomach, his head supported by his hands in an awfully girly way that makes me snort, but the tension between them is so high that they don't even hear me.

"What are you doing here?" Blake asks.

Theo flashes him a smirk. "I'm her boyfriend, that's enough of a reason. What about you?"

Blake raises an eyebrow. "Can't you sit up correctly? I can't be serious with you in that position."

"Not yet," Theo says, bringing his hands and head down, staying in a starfish position.

Blake rolls his eyes at the action and turns his focus on me. "Shift."

I frown. "Why would I-"

"Just do it," he says desperately. "... Please."

I hate when he pleads.

"Turn around," I say, and he obeys for once.

I start taking off my clothes when I catch Theo glimpsing at me. His arm is covering the side of his face. I feel my face drastically heat up. He smirks at me, mouthing me to move on. I roll my eyes and turn my back on him, taking everything off. I don't waste time shifting, and in seconds I'm in my panther form.

"You can turn back around now," Theo says.

I hear Blake's breath interrupt for a second as he looks at me. I sit down, my tail slowly moving sideways. He crouches down to my level and starts petting me. Panthera betrays me by purring under his touch. My body warms up for him, leaving me confused.

"Okay, that's enough bad boy. Step away from her," Theo chimes in, sounding annoyed at the situation. He's finally in a normal sitting position.

Blake glares at him but doesn't say anything. I shake my head and jump on the bed, lying flat on Theo's lap. I can picture him smiling as he gently caresses my fur.

I watch Blake taking a seat on my chair.

Well, then.

He looks at me with that weird look he once gave me back at the cafeteria that makes my body go still. For some reason, a sudden sadness embraces my mind. Why would I be sad, though? It's not like I'm losing him.

"Do you love her?" Blake asks. His blue eyes are focusing on Theo now.

"Well, love is a strong word, but I like her a lot, that's for sure. We're werecats, mates are a little bit different and harder to find for us," he replies, leaving a soft kiss on the top of my head.

Blake's eyes widen. "Different how?"

Theo hums for a second. "Well, we find them only during a full moon. It works best if we're outside. Without that, we don't feel anything."

Blake's eyes glance down at me, looking at me again with something I can't figure out. What is he thinking?

"That's interesting," he murmurs under his breath, "So it only works with a full moon, correct?" he asks, and Theo confirms everything.

With that, Blake stands up. "Well, I guess I just got all of my questions answered, so I'll leave you two alone," he says, opening the door and giving me one last weird look.

This time my heart drops for a second. It's getting ridiculous. Why do I feel abandoned now? Like a cat who just found out their owner left them behind.

Theo pushes me aside and gets up. I take that opportunity to shift back to my human form.

I stretch out my body. "That was weird," I say, catching Theo's attention after he locked my door. His mouth drops open, and I close my eyes, cursing under my breath.

Yep, I'm naked.

"Yeah, well, I can't let you go now," he says, dropping on his knees in front of me and pulling me by my ankles closer to him.

My eyes widen up. "Wait, what-" I gasp, feeling a sudden tongue in between my thighs. My back arches by the sudden waves after waves of pleasure engulfing me. I breathlessly moan his name out as my hands grab his hair.

"You should probably use that pillow before your parents come up here," he casually says before slipping that devilish tongue back inside.

I gladly take that advice and grab the pillow above me, covering my face with it. My moans get muffled by it, and Theo doesn't let me go until I come undone, screaming his name out. Or was it a God's name? Either way, it leaves me speechless, breathless, and in pure euphoria.

Theo gets up, hovers over me with his emerald eyes glinting with joy. Why can't he be my mate? He's perfect for me.

He plays with one of my curls and twirls it around his finger. "How was it?"

I smile, pushing the pillow further down to cover my breasts. "Like the first time. Perfect, but it feels unfair, I didn't do anything to you."

"Yet. You'll do it when you feel like it. Don't worry about it." He smiles when his phone starts to ring.

He gets off me and answers it. Apparently, his step-mom is getting worried, and he promises he would be home in less than ten minutes. We talk for a few more minutes before he goes back home, leaving me with a smile on my face all night long.

"No way."

My eye twitches as I walk toward the front door of the school. We're in April and there's already a blinding sun making me squeeze my eyes first thing in the morning.

"I can't believe it."

Shut up.

"Is that her?"

"Is that our future Luna?"

Ugh, shut up.

"If she is, she's not even that pretty, what the fuck?!"

"I don't think she even comes to this school."

"Honestly, fuck that bitch. I still am sure that I have a shot at being his mate!"

Oh my Gods, just stop!

I didn't even step foot inside school yet, and every werewolf is talking about this so-called Luna, which I haven't seen yet!

As I climb up the short stairs, I finally spot the person who got everyone's attention. She's saying something to Blake, followed by a blowing kiss before turning around and walking back to her car.

She's tall, shoulder-length brown curly hair, bright brown eyes, and a killer outfit, I must say. It's nothing special, which is what I like.

"What do you think?" A familiar voice asks while patting my back.

I shrug. "I don't know, Bella. I think it's none of my business."

"I don't know, Cat. I'm pretty sure you had some feelings for him in the past."

I turn toward her. "Exactly. In the past. Now I'm with Theo."

Bella rolls her hazelnut colored eyes. "Doesn't mean you don't feel anything for him. You werecats are kind of polyamorous."

I snort, walking down the hallway. "That's not true."

Right?

Bella follows me. "Who knows, but anyway, she's pretty at least. Well, she kind of looks like you."

"Who?"

"Blake's new girlfriend."

I shrug. "She's ok."

Bella laughs. "Right. You do realize that your jealousy shows off every time you shrug, right?"

I frown. "Why would I be jealous? And my shrugging doesn't mean a thing."

"What doesn't mean a thing?" chimes in Taylor, walking past us and stopping at her locker.

I lean my back against another locker. "Bella is saying that I shrug a lot when I'm jealous."

Taylor snorts at that. "Of course. You know, I thought you had some kind of tic back in freshman year for the amount of shrug you were doing every time you saw Blake and Megan together."

I stay quiet not knowing how to respond to that. Yes, I was a tad bit jealous back then, but things are different now. I'm grown, and I have Theo by my side. Things are different.

I look at Bella, who's proudly nodding at Taylor with her dark wavy hair gracefully following the movement. "By the way, what do you think about Blake's new girlfriend?" she asks.

"You mean Margot? She's nice. Never had any bad blood with her."

I give Taylor a skeptical look. "You know her?"

She nods. "Yeah, we used to play volleyball together back in middle school. She left town because of her dad's promotion, so I'm kind of surprised she's back here so soon."

I shrug at that. "It's not that soon, people change over time, you know."

My eyes catch Trevor, running down the hall toward us, and I lick my lips, hiding my smile.

Taylor rolls her eyes. "Yes, but Margot has always been a nice-" she gasps, feeling a pair of hands around her waist.

Trevor kisses her cheek. "Good morning," he murmurs into her ear.

She smiles, leaning her back against him. "Hey there."

"What do you think about Margot?" Bella asks, of course.

Is she trying to annoy me today? Because it's working perfectly.

"She's nice even though she's a Mortal."

My eyes widen at that revelation. "Wait, so she's human?!"

Trevor frowns at me. "What do you mean?"

Shit.

"I mean, of course, you said the word Mortal and, of course, you know, my mind thought about humans because well, uhm, you know, I just remembered I have English which is kind of far away so I might as well start heading there. Yes, I'll see you at lunch," I manage to say all of that in one stuttering breath before fast walking away from them.

I mentally facepalm myself at least a dozen times, when I cross paths with Blake. I notice his eyes on me from afar as I smoothly take out my phone and pretend to text someone, completely ignoring his presence.

Fuck him.
