14 ☽ Werecats
Chapter 14
Centuries ago, all creatures used to live in peace. Of course, a few species loathed other species, but never enough to declare war against each other. Everybody knew that a declaration of war meant a species' extinction.
Nonetheless, allies were a must-have for safety reasons, such as: Vampires with Fairies, Witches with Sirens, Angels with Devils, and Werewolves with Werecats. They had the keep your friends close, but your enemies closer philosophy.
Everything co-existed well until one day, a werewolf and a vampire were found dead. That was the beginning of the end. Both sides declared war to one another, and soon blood began to splatter everywhere. For months, werewolves and vampires fought.
No one would have even second-guessed that the victims' deaths happened by the hand of a werecat. A werecat who didn't care about the consequences, and only wanted to create chaos. To this day, no one knows why he did it, but it wasn't such a big deal. The treason of werecats was.
Toward the end of the war, the werewolves were losing badly to the vampires. The werecats managed to make a secret deal with the vampires, so that just when the werewolves needed the werecats the most, they turned their backs on the poor wolves and sided with the vampires.
From then on, everything got worse. The werewolf Alpha of that time, who's considered one of the most ruthless Alphas of America, persecuted all werecats for their treason. A persecution that forced my species into hiding for centuries.
That's why no one must know about what my family and I are. But I screwed up. I screwed up bad and now my family is going to pay for it. Just the thought of it makes my vision clouded with tears.
"I won't tell anyone."
That's all I needed to hear.
I lift my head, staring at Blake, who's looking down at his feet. "You won't? Really?"
He meets my eyes. "I promise, so please, don't run away from me."
My shoulders visibly relax. I don't know what gets into me, but I walk toward Blake and hug him. His warmth passes to my body as he pats my head, chuckling weirdly. My blood runs cold in an instant at his next words.
"I'm not done though."
I take my distance from him and cross my arms over my chest. "What do you mean?"
He smiles, leaning his back on the wall. "You'll have to obey at every order I give you, no questions asked."
I glare at him. "Fuck, no!"
He shrugs his shoulders. "Then I guess you and your family will be leaving town soon," he replies, walking away from me.
I bite my tongue, keeping at bay my feline side that wanted to pounce at him. I close my eyes and sigh, cursing under my breath. "Wait."
He stops.
"How long will I be doing it?" I ask.
He turns around with the brightest smile I've ever seen coming from him. "Until I graduate, and don't worry, I won't ask anything sexual," he says, approaching me.
I frown. "I wasn't even thinking about that."
He lifts one eyebrow, getting too close to me, and I back away.
"Well," he starts as my back bumps against a locker. "You should have."
He cages me with his arms. I stop breathing. Blake stares at me, his eyes occasionally dropping to my lips. My body shivers, and it's not out of fear.
"What are you doing?" I breathe out.
"Let me see her," he answers with a cheeky smile.
I frown. "Who?"
"Your cat."
I glare at him. "Hell no."
Blake rolls his eyes. "Mind I remind you about the deal we just made, so do as I say," his eyes start to darken. "Now."
I really wish I was a witch so I could make him forget about everything that happened this morning. I sigh, closing my eyes. Fuck him.
I concentrate on my ears, my nails, my face, my spine. I feel the tingling sensation overcome my body and shift the parts that every person wants to see. I open my eyes and observe at a starstruck Blake.
His blue eyes are taking every single part of me. It's overwhelming, really. I feel like a lab rat and a princess at the same time under his stare.
I cross my arms and narrow my eyes at him. "I hope you're satisfied, Alpha."
Might as well reveal everything.
His eyes widen as he takes a step back. "You knew?"
I smile. "Even a human with little knowledge about the Creatures would have you figured out. Starting with that overwhelming scent. What is it, by the way?" I can't help but ask as I sniff his scent again.
Blake's eyebrows go up. "You can... smell my scent? Even now?" he asks as if I've turned crazy.
I nod my head. "Yeah, it's... strong," I say.
Blake takes a step forward with a look he's never given me before when the bell rings. I thank all the Gods there are, grab my bag, and rush to my next class, shifting back to my complete human form.
"Cat!" he calls out.
"Don't follow me!"
Classes go smoothly, and for once, I pay attention to all of them. In between classes, I run around the hallways, avoiding Blake like the plague.
When lunchtime arrives, I explain everything to Bella and Taylor, who later on proceed to tell me how stupid and careless I was. It should have been more satisfying, they said.
Theo and Bella's mate join us a couple of minutes later, forcing us to change the subject.
"Oh, by the way, are you going to the party next Friday?" Theo asks, his eyes on Taylor, who's now frowning at me.
"Why would I?" she asks, tilting her head to the side.
Theo pales before waving a hand around. "You're right! It's not important anyway."
She shakes her head. "No, too late for that, so tell me."
He sighs, probably regretting even bringing it out. His arm is resting around my shoulders, so I lean toward him a bit. "It's Trevor's birthday party..."
My eyes widen.
There's a deafening silence for a couple of seconds. Everyone is looking at Taylor, waiting for her reaction. She always wanted to be the one to throw him a birthday party, but he has always rejected her idea since he didn't like parties in the first place. Plus, she's a werewolf, a species known to have little to no control over their emotions.
If werewolves are sad, they could go into a brief depression. If they're happy, they might stay in an euphorian state for a while, and if they're mad, well, I've never wanted to find out what that emotional reaction is.
Taylor stands up with a blank face and heads straight to Trevor. She says something that makes his smile disappear in a second. He stands up and takes her away from the cafeteria.
"You're an idiot," I say, breaking the silence.
Theo sighs. "I'm still the new guy. I don't know anything."
I roll my eyes. "I told you everything you needed to know, so that's not an excuse. Plus, it's been two months, you're not new anymore."
He kisses my cheek as a response, making a small smile lingering on my lips.
Damn him.

Later that day, Theo ended up having dinner at my place.
I'm pretty sure it went well since my parents couldn't take their eyes off of him. My dad was a little skeptical at first, but after I revealed them that Theo was a werecat, all worries disappeared.
My mom kept pouring him drinks and food even if he told her that he was full, or that he simply wasn't thirsty at the moment. My dad, on the other hand, kept bragging about what he used to do as a fellow werecat with his companions when they were young.
One hour and thirty minutes later, we finally were alone and doing our homework. I let Theo have my desk as I lie on the bed with a book in hand. World literature with Mr Fitz is all about reading books and reviewing them.
I filled the silence with some soft low music in the background. Everything is quiet until Theo turns around. "Are you done with that?"
I raise a finger as I finish reading the last sentence. I lift my eyes toward Theo afterward. "Not yet, why?"
A mischievous smile tugs at his lips as he stands up, walking toward me. "I just wanted to cuddle with my girlfriend a little bit," he says, taking his shoes off and getting on the bed, lying down near me.
A shot of goosebumps runs through my body as he lazily rests his arm on my back. I put the book down and turn sideways, facing him. "You know, nothing can interrupt this," I say, pulling his face down and kissing him briefly.
We silently look at each other for a few seconds before he kisses me again. My body relaxes as he pulls me closer. My hands rest on his chest, his shirt trapped in between my fingers. He doesn't wait for a second more. His hands smoothly move under my black jeans, squeezing my butt, which makes me move closer to him.
A noise coming from my door breaks our little makeout session. Pretty sure it's my sister trying to walk in without knocking. Thank the Gods I locked it earlier.
"Cat! He's here!" my sister yells as she knocks on the door quite hard.
Theo groans lying flat on his stomach as I annoyingly hop off the bed.
I probably should have asked who it was, but it was too late.
My eyes widen at the blue-eyed boy in front of me.
"Blake?"
