Chapter 12. The Ancient History
A/N: I haven't proof-read the chapter so sorry in advance for the errors in the typos.
Carla's POV
Ancients.
There's a reason people feared those creatures. Their powers. Their abilities. The things they could do. Everything about them was other-worldly.
Far more centuries before even the royals came into existence, the Ancients dominated the land. Unlike now, where there were only three species left which are Vampires, Werewolves and Witches. The olden era had various species which were all still a myth to us.
There were vampires who were far more powerful than they are now and they had abilities which were unheard of. I also remember learning in Ancient History class about them having abilities like a compulsion and jumping from an extremely high height. It's said that they lived in Covens (like we have packs for werewolves) led by a coven leader (such as an alpha but for coven members). But even the Ancients had royal bloodlines who ruled above all the covens. A regular ancient might not be able to defeat a royal vampire like Evan, the vampire king. But the Ancient Vampire Royals? I can't even think about what kind of abilities they might possess.
Then there are werewolf ancients. Who are called the Lycans. The first-ever existing wolves. Well, they aren't really werewolves since they are far stronger, faster and powerful than a normal werewolf and even a royal. Their wolves are double the size of a born royal werewolf like Ariel and Daniel which is huge if I might add. They're also born with elemental abilities and seeing how Noah bent the water according to his will, I'm guessing he has water elemental ability. Also, unlike royals who have a single affinity, the royals of the Lycans race had many affinities. It's said that Lycans had many royal families. Not just one or two. Many.
Coming to the witches, Ancient witches had different kinds. We have black witches and white witches---the one who gives up to the darkness and resorts to dark black magic and the one who sticks to nature's original magic, respectively. But in ancient times, there were many kinds of witches.
Apart from the normal black and white witches, there were the seasonal witches---the winter witch, the autumn witch, the spring witch, summer witch and the rain witch. Then there were the blessed witches who had exceptional abilities such as looking into the past, present or future, or the ones who could sneak a glance into people's mind---an ability that Claire, the only existing ancient witch I know of has, which states she's one of the blessed witches. And lastly, there were the demonic witches. Something that Noah is. Something that is the darkest of all kinds of witches, even the black witch who resorts to black magic.
Demonic Witches. These were the witches who worshipped and sought the help of the demonic creatures to gain the power of the underworld---the dead. Not everyone succeeded in becoming one though. 'Cause well, When you're too indulged in gaining the power of the dead, you risk being a part of the dead. Many have lost their sanity and many lost their lives while seeking this power.
The rare two percent of who sacrificed themselves for being a part of the underworld receive blessing in the form of exceptional powers. But honestly speaking, I would say they were more like a curse. Because firstly, once you receive these 'gifts' or 'blessing', you can't return it back or not use it whatsoever. Secondly, most of the time these 'gifts' had side-effects to them. Side effects such as blood-lust even if you're a witch since the demons of the underworld seek the blood of the innocent or an intense desire to turn evil or do something wicked. Lastly, when you give up yourself to the underworld, you don't give up only yourself, you sacrifice the rest of your generation. Saying that, all the firstborn of the generation you bore will be a demonic witch from birth as well. Whether they want to be or not. They don't have a choice.
But the most horrible part of it all is, when you receive the magic of the underworld and stay in the supernatural realm, there's a part of you from the kingdom of the dead that stays with you in this realm. That means, you'll have half of your witch soul turned into a demon. That's why we call them the demonic witches. 'Cause these witches are half-witch and half-demon.
There was also mentioned in the books that Merfolks such as mermaids and mermen and the dragons existed as well back then. But it's still a myth to us. So, we don't really know.
The people in that era thought such powers shouldn't exist and the Ancients were a threat to the supernatural race. The thing was, the hunters and the other normal species felt low in front of the ancients which didn't go well with them.
So, the hunters along with the other creatures, even a few of the less powerful ancients plotted together against the Ancients, especially the royals to slaughter them all. The loophole here was, all and I literally mean, all of them stayed at the same place. In one kingdom. The enchanted kingdom of Ancientriova.
And that was their biggest mistake.
When the Hunters attacked. They attacked everyone of them together. Did I mention these hunters weren't any ordinary ones and they were thousands in number? Probably not. So, like the ancient supernatural, there were also Ancient hunters. Who were born with the ability to kill and hunt down the supernaturals. Their skills were exceptional and it was difficult for even an ancient to defeat. The Ancient Royals though were much more powerful but they became the victim of betrayal from their own family members until every single Ancient was eventually wiped off the face of the supernatural realm. And the kingdom of Ancientriova was completely destroyed and drowned into the oceans.
I know I probably sound like some historian right now. But honestly speaking, Ancient history was very fascinating. It was the only topic that piqued my interest in history classes. Besides, to learn about the Ancient creatures and their extraordinary powers was swoon-worthy.
And as I watched Noah moulding the water as he wished without any effort, all the learning came tumbling back to me.
Who would've thought? The ancient bloodline still exists. And the little boy in front of me was living proof. Does that mean the kingdom still exists? Maybe it's underwater now. Or maybe this little boy's family somehow managed to escape the kingdom before it was destroyed. We never know. Not until we meet Noah's parents at least.
But that also means one more thing. . .
My eyes focused on the boy who looked harmless as he played with the water and tried to make Cami happy while I, Ariel and Daniel kept staring at Noah, not moving ahead to stop him from using his powers.
I could say Ariel was worried for her daughter but she stood back just observing Noah and Cami from a distance. Daniel had ordered the castle guards to a position outside his room where Ariana was sleeping at the moment. She missed seeing Noah's powers and I doubt Daniel would tell her about it. He's a bit too possessive about her health, especially now that he turned her into a hybrid like himself. Her emotions were all over the place and heightened so he kept her away from as less stress as he could.
Anthony....
The moment Ariel said what Noah was, he was shocked the most out of us before a terrified expression crossed his face. He just stood there shell-shocked before walking away towards his room without a word. I'm worried about him. I'll have to check up on him. He was acting strange.
Now, about Noah.
The little boy could be in a lot of danger if someone came to know who he was. Or rather, what he was. And I can't risk it. I know I've barely met him, but I felt obliged to keep him secure.
I'll protect him at any cost.
I pledged that as I headed towards Anthony's room.

Kaitlyn's POV
My eyes bored into my husband's as he looked at me as if I was being unreasonable.
Well, I did almost renovate his room and half his castle with my fury. There were shattered wood and glass pieces splattered all across the wooden floor of the Victorian-themed room. I even broke a few of the artefacts he liked a lot. So, I kinda deserve the annoyed look he's giving me now but I simply don't care.
My son. My little baby.
He was out there all alone. He must be so scared. And these damned people couldn't find him.
What was the use of being one of the most powerful creatures when you can't track down a little baby?!
The unshed tears blurred my vision as I glared at Valerian, my husband, who's eyes softened considerably as he caught sight of my watery eyes and took a step closer to me until we were just a few inches apart.
"Kate, calm down," he cupped my cheek with his warm palm and wiped away the lone tear that fell on my cheek.
"I can't, Val. I can't." My voice broke and the tears went on Niagara falls mode, now drizzling like the God damned rain as he pulled me into his arms.
"How dare those mother ducking rogues freaking kidnap my little baby!" I spat out angrily while my voice practically came out muffled due to the clogging of my throat because of the raw emotions. Also, the fact that I was basically snuggled up in his arms didn't help.
I heard a soft chuckle which made me narrow my eyes and I pushed Valerian aka my moronic husband by his chest and looked up into the greyish-green eyes of the man who dared to laugh at my misery.
"What are you chuckling at?" I glared at him although looking at the slight smile on his lips after so many days since they took my little Noah away sent a sense of warmth to my heart. But I wasn't letting him off the hook so easily. How dare he laugh!
"Mother 'Ducking'," Valerian chuckled as he gave me an amused look, "It's been a while since I heard the pleasant word." He added with a smile as he inched a step closer to me.
I rolled my eyes at him, "Excuse my language, Milord. I was trying to be polite here."
"Yeah, right." He shook his head with a smile and edged nearer to me.
Valerian closed the gap between us and wound his left arm around my waist while the other swept off a strand of my dirty blonde hair falling on my face, behind my ear before he cupped my cheek again.
"I know you're worried about Noah and you want him back at any cost. I know you're frustrated and sad knowing we didn't find him yet. I know you're concerned for his safety. But I promise you, Kate, we'll find him. And once I do, the one who took him away and made you suffer, are going to regret ever taking birth," A dark look crossed his face at the last statement and the look he gave me was promising.
Oh-uh. Someone's gonna be in big trouble. No one crossed Valerian Kingston. He didn't get his 'most ruthless king to ever exist' reputation just like that. He said what he meant. These people who took my little Noah away were gonna pay. And I didn't mind it one bit. Might as well join forces.
I know he doesn't admit or show it much but Valerian's been equally or rather more worried about Noah than me. He's just good at hiding his emotions well. Like always. But he can't hide it from me.
I know he hasn't been sleeping. He stays up all night with the trackers and the witches trying to track Noah while he tucks me into bed and forces me to rest assuring me that he'll do the work and I didn't have to worry. He keeps checking up on me and cooling my anger down whenever I have one of my shenanigans or tantrums. Gosh, I love this man.
"Have I told you how much I love you?" I asked, staring into his captivating greyish green eyes.
"Not in a while." He smiled.
"Well, I love you, Valerian Kingston," I announced haughtily while his smile turned to a grin.
"I love you more, my queen." He said before leaning in closer to my face.
Just as our lips barely brushed against each other, the door to our room burst open with force.
There at the doorstep stood a brunette-ish blonde-haired little girl giving me and Valerian a disgusted face. Her hair was a heap of messy curls let down freely that reached her shoulders. She rolled her bluish-grey eyes at us and her pink pouty lips were set in their regular pout. She was wearing a purple coloured pyjama and had a hand placed on her hip in arrogance. While Noah had his father's greyish green eyes, Nora had my eye colour.
"Eww, Mommy, Daddy! Why are you both always doing the kissing?" She made a face while I and Valerian pulled apart, chuckling at her scrunched up face.
I walked over to our daughter, Nora, and ruffled her dirty blonde hair.
"Nor, why aren't you sleeping?" I pulled her cheek gently while she just pouted.
Nora is Noah's twin. Noah is the elder one but Nora is the boss among both the siblings. She gets to boss around a lot. She has her Daddy and her elder brother by 2 minutes, wrapped around her tiny finger.
"Mommy! Daddy! Guess what!" She suddenly looked at us with a wide and exciting expression.
I gave her a puzzled look and glanced up at Valerian who sported the same expression.
"What's it, little lady?" Val asked, scooting down to her height.
Nora gave us the brightest smile ever.
"I finally found out where Broda is!" She grinned from ear to ear mentioning Noah as she calls him 'Broda' which means brother.
Her next words made my blood run cold.
"He's in Iris, The Werewolf Kingdom!"
Oh, God. My baby is outside the barrier of this Kingdom. He isn't safe.
Noah and Nora had a connection from birth. They could communicate with each other even when they're miles away through their mind-link. It's one of the many advances of being twins. Nora had been trying to connect through the link from the beginning but she couldn't reach him. Now I know why. It's because he's outside the protection spell of the kingdom.
"Pack your bags. We're going to the werewolf Kingdom." Valerian declared leaving no room for discussion and I couldn't be anymore thankful.
Finally. We're going to get our baby back. And Nora is going to get her Broda back.
It's time we make our appearance outside of this kingdom. And in the Werewolf kingdom.

I know a boring chapter. No Anthony and Carla moment. But there will be one in the next chapter;)
Also, I literally felt like I was writing a history thesis while writing Carla's POV😂
It's almost 4 a.m. and here I am, awake like an owl. You know what? Call me 'Demon Owl' from now on. I'm an owl and I also happen to be a demon. That's why😹
Anyways, enough of my stupidity.
I'm so dang sleepy. I'll end this here.
Bubye for now :-)
Have a nice day! >[^.^]<
