Chapter Fourteen: You're a Little Late

I held the small piece of decoration in my hand as little kids laughed and danced about the room. My body was tense, and I almost wanted to throw the small holly berries out the window. I stared at the pure green leaves and thought of Christmases with my mom, dad, and brother. That blew over shortly.

"Alex, you might wanna hang that up before Christmas is over," Xavier said. I gave him a sideways look causing him to laugh at me. I rolled my eyes as I hung the holly onto the wall. I smiled to myself as I backed up and admired my work. Momma would be proud.

I made my way over to the tree where Amy, Xavier, and Xavier's mom, Heather, were putting ornaments on the tree. A few children, I had not yet memorized the names of, giggled as they placed the biggest ornaments on the very bottom.

"Need any help?" I asked as I took a step toward the tree. Amy smiled and shook her head.

"No, dear. Why don't you go check on Tyler and Dylan in the kitchen." My smile fell slightly, but I nodded and exited the room.

The walk to the kitchen was much faster than I had wanted. By the time I was in the kitchen, Tyler was yelling at Dylan as he looked half drunk with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth.

"Aye," I yelled over Tyler's arguing. His head shot in my direction as Dylan took a long drag of his cigarette. "Take it outside or I will," I growled out at him. He huffed, but put out the cigarette and crossed his arms.

"What? No formal hello? No 'it's been awhile. How've you been?'" Dylan asked cockily. The scent of smoke lingered through the kitchen, and I despised it this way.

"Last time I had greeted you, I left with a handprint on the side of my face," I spat. He chuckled as I glared at him.

"You need something?" Tyler asked in a much nicer way than Dylan ever could. I slowly walked further into the kitchen until I could see the whites of their eyes.

"Amy sent me. Said you two assholes probably wouldn't even know the difference between your left and right hand," I lied sounding bored. I smiled and turned around toward the oven. "I'm not baking. Last time I did, the house nearly caught on fire. I'll supervise," I said as I clapped my hands together.

"No. We aren't doing anything. Sit down," Tyler said. I sucked in a deep breath, but decided it would best to sit. "Why did you really come in here?" Tyler asked once I was seated. I Iicked my lips and breathed out slowly.

"Amy told me too-"

"I don't want to hear that bullshit. I want to know why you came into the kitchen and didn't just leave the house." Tyler asked with authority. I smirked and tapped the table with my fingers.

"I see why you are beta," I commented. His piercing gaze never once left. "Well, you certainly took a much different approach than I," I said as I stood up and walked around so that I was in front of Tyler and Dylan. "You're a straightforward kind of guy. Reminds me of someone I always aspired to be. Sadly, I don't anymore. Fact is, I enjoy the fear. There is power in making your whispers sound like screams," I stated with a smirk.

"So what do you want?" Tyler asked once again. I huffed and rolled my eyes.

"I have to give it to you. You know exactly what you're doing. Maybe more than I do at the moment," I said. Dylan watched as I leaned in and put my lips to Tyler's ear and whispered, "but, you have all the answers that I need." I back up as Tyler's face was hard as stone.

"What answers?" Dylan questioned. I shot him a look and his eyes narrowed on me.

"Leave," I said darkly. He looked hesitant, but he got up and left the room. That simple. I directed myself back to Tyler as his face had paled just a bit.

"Relax. I just want answers, and you're gonna give them to me," I said with a devious smile. He nodded making me smirked. These boys are too easy. I took a seat in front of Tyler and focused on him. I wanted answers, and if Greyson wouldn't give them to me, then I'd get them on my own. It's all about confidence ladies.

"Where is Greyson?" I asked seriously. Amy claimed he was in Canada, but there is no reason for him to be. I would know. I've been in his office a lot lately.

"You know where he is," Tyler answered. I huffed and leaned forward, so I was closer to him.

"I know what you guys want me to know. Only problem is, I want to know the truth," I argued. Tyler chuckled, and I felt my short temper starting to flare. I closed my eyes and sucked in a deep breath. Once I reopened my eyes, Tyler had a smirk plastered across his face. What a twit.

"Sorry to tell you this, but the scary Alex you were a few weeks ago is slowly fading," Tyler smirked as he stood up. He walked behind me and tucked the hair on the side of my face behind my ear. I froze, and my eyes widened. I felt his breath on my ear as he got closer. "Greyson is changing you, and no matter how much you hate it, you love it, too." I tensed as he kissed the side of my cheek and then left the room.

I clenched my teeth together and wiped my cheek slowly with my sleeve. The disgust I felt with myself at the moment was undeniably large. No matter how much I could try, I'd never be the same girl I was just weeks before now. I had to live with the fact that I was changing.

"I will not be one of those shitty, teen-novel characters who have to change just for a man. If I'm changing, he sure as hell is, too." And that's a promise I made to myself. I stood up and stalked out of the room. I walked straight toward Greyson's office. I was not coming out of there until I found what I wanted.

I walked straight for his desk. I sat down at the computer and bit my bottom lip. I stared at the password bar like I had been for the past week. I had tried everything. From his name to even my name. I just suck at this. I would need someone skilled with this.

Maybe I should just type random names. Would that be wrong to do.

"What if it were Karissa? Ha," I thought out loud. Then I froze. She was the answer this whole time. She would know how to break into the computer. I ran down stairs and headed for my room, nearly face planting in the process. I barged through the door and ran to my book bag. I unzipped it and just dumped the entire thing on my bed. I rummaged through the mess of junk papers and broken pencils until I found my phone.

I grabbed it and ran as fast as I could out of the room. I ran up the steps, two at a time. I was extremely careful that I didn't slip and fall down them. Once I got to the top of the stairs, I ran down the hall until I was in front of the door to Greyson's office. Just as I was about to grab the handle, a hand grabbed my wrist. I froze. My heart sped up, and my head whipped around so I could see who the hand belonged to.

"What are you doing?" Andrew questioned like it was no problem while I on the other hand was practically having an internal breakdown. I struggled just trying to get my breathing back in order.

"Don't do that," I scolded as I yanked my hand away. I put the hand over my chest and breathed in and out deeply. Andrew raised an eyebrow and I rolled my eyes in return. I grabbed his hand while I twisted the door knob with my other hand. "Get in here," I snapped as I yanked him into the office.

He looked around the office mischievously as he touched literally everything that was touchable.

"Oh. Big, bad Alpha Greyson's office," he said in fake horror. He continued touching the pictures on the walls as I looked at my phone.

"Touching everything just leaves evidence that you were in here," I stated. He snorted and slapped his hand on the wall next to the window and then picked it back up to do it again.

"Don't touch that!" I yelled just as his hand just came down on the silver bars. He cursed loudly as I winced away.

"Son of a-!" He cried as he cradled his hand. I worried about his hand, but at the same time I was more worried about calling Karissa.

"What are you doing in here anyway?" He asked annoyed. I glared at him and then continued looking for Karissa's name in my contacts.

"Well, I don't think Greyson is in Canada," I said simply. Andrew walked over to me and took the phone out of my hands. "Hey!"

"I hate when people talk to their phone and not humans. It's psychotic." I huffed at his ridiculousness. Just because I wasn't looking at him didn't mean I wasn't talking to him. "So why are you in here?" He asked again.

"I need to know why Greyson left so quickly and where he went," I answered. Andrew crossed his arms and furrowed his brows.

"Alex, he's in Canada. You need to relax. If you miss him just call," he stated.

"No! That's the complete opposite!" I yelled. I realized that maybe yelling wasn't the best thing to do at the moment, so I sucked in a deep breath and tried starting over.

"Greyson is up to something, and I need to find it out. He's trouble, Andrew," I said calmly. Andrew seemed somewhat lost in thought. He walked closer to me so that we were directly in front of eachother.

"So what you're telling me is that you think Greyson is more of a psycho than you?" I slapped his arm causing him to laugh loudly at my little tantrum.

"Go away," I said angrily and started to walk away from him.

"Oh come on, Alex." he said and grabbed my arm. He spun me around. When I turned back around, we were mere inches apart. My eyes widened and so did his.

For a second, I considered leaning in and just closing the distance and ending it right there, but I knew that I was just starting shit I wasn't ready for.

I yanked my arm out of his grasp and crossed my arms over my chest.

"Sorry, I didn't realize that you'd be that close when you-"

"It's fine," I interrupted him, "It's fine," I repeated. I heard my ringtone and instantly ran over to Andrew and took my phone. I unlocked it and answered the call. Karissa's voice instantly filled the speaker.

"Something's wrong. I'm on my way over," she said quickly and then hung up. I froze and stared down at the phone.

"Alex? Who was that?" Andrew asked. I snapped my attention toward Andrew.

"Um. Uh. Karissa. She, uh, seemed worried," I said nervously. Then, before I had time to even say another word, the door to Greyson's office barged opened behind me. I was too scared to turn around, so I watched Andrew's face. Shock was written all over it.

"Andrew?" A woman's voice echoed through my mind: one I had remembered from so long ago. I quickly turned around and looked at the people in front of me.

Standing there beside Greyson was a woman that had short black hair and vibrant green eyes. The same woman I had left years ago and standing next to her was a man with greying hair and a boy built like a bull.

I looked at the woman and instantly my heart sank with the amount of emotion that was sprawled across her face as well as the two men standing in front of me.

"Mom?" But I wasn't the only one who had said it.

Just then, Karissa ran through the door at full speed, breathing as if she had just run a marathon, and froze at the sight of the mess that had just begun. Her eyes landed on Andrew and I as if her worst fears had been confirmed.

"I guess you know what I was going to tell you, now."

HOLY CRAP. BIG REVEAL.
sorry to those Alex and Andrew fans. I'm sorry...

But that moment with Tyler tho. Jeesh. I feel like someone had to tell her that and Tyler told her pretty bluntly about the fact that she was changing. Did anyone notice how weird Alex was? ITS BECAUSE AHES TRYING TO BE WHO SHE WAS BEFORE. she's has slowly been changing ladies and gents. Sorry but shit happens.

But come on...was anyone expecting that shit to happen. Really...just be honest....did you really expect that they had the same momma. Yeah. No. Okay maybe some of you.

Anyway. I have been working on my new zombie book and I'm so excited! The first chapter is kinda small though but that's because it's just like the opening thingy I guess. Idk.

Okay so you all are awesome and I love you all! You are all so amazing and I can't believe I have gotten so far in this book. You all are beautiful people! Boom.
