routine

My day usually started with a breakfast with Andrea and Laura. They would tell me about the pack house and their traditions.

As I guessed, this pack did run things differently from other packs. They had their own set of rules and regulations which would be unacceptable in other packs but were welcome here.

I had also started meeting other pack members, usually those who come to the pack house on a daily basis. As usual, I was introduced as the Alpha's guest but that didn't bother me as much anymore.

After breakfast, I went on to the training grounds where Ian would train me for an hour or so. Personally, I think I had improved a lot, but I was still always caught off guard when he attacks me and besides, I know I still have a lot of work to do.

Afterwards, when Ian would leave to do his duties, I'd go running around the territory and exploring the huge pack field. I mean, if I was going to be living here for a while, might as well get familiar with it right?

I found interesting places through my explorations, other from the fact that the territory had two waterfalls, they had three lakes and so many green spaces. It was so calming, so soothing.

When I didn't go for runs, I visited Andrea over at the infirmary where she worked as a helper for the pack doctor, Samuel. It was weird, whenever I was around him, I felt a bit uneasy and restless.

Whenever I saw him treating patients, it irritated me how slow he was which was yet again, weird because it wasn't like I could heal faster than him. Heck, I don't even have healing magic. Nor any kind of magic.

I felt bad because sometimes, my aura kind of just changes around him and I think he started to notice that and he probably thinks that I don't like him, but it wasn't that at all. It wasn't him, it was me. I was the problem.

Sam's a nice guy though. Apparently, he's the youngest pack doctor that Panselinos ever had so that mean that he was better than the other pack doctors before him.

"Would you like to try your luck healing that patient's wound?" Sam asked when I was observing him intently. Ashamed that I got caught, I quickly shook my head no.

"Oh, n-no. I'm so sorry for staring, it's just so fascinating, being able to heal like that and all. And even if I wanted to, I don't have any ounce of magic in me." I admitted which was true.

See, werewolves possessed a natural aura about them.

A blue aura stood for the water element. Werewolves with this aura usually possessed magic relating with healing and for offensive powers, it could range from water bullets to ice daggers. It depends on the person. Pack doctors always had this aura.

A brown aura stood for the earth element. If you had this, your tracking skills were superb. Your senses would also be better than that of a regular wolf's.

A green aura was for the air element. These are the barrier users, the seers. They usually worked to protect the pack. They would be able to sense anyone stepping inside their barrier.

Finally, a red aura was of course for fire. They're usually warriors and have a lot of passion. Werewolves with red auras could be reckless especially when using their magic, so they had to be taught to control them very well.

Each wolf had a different capacity of aura, if they had strong one, they probably belonged to a high-ranking family. But apparently, auras in the last few centuries have been very weak and have even disappeared for regular wolves. These days, only the high-ranking wolves have them and very few regular wolves.

"Do you know which category your aura belongs to at least?" Sam asked.

I shook my head. "No, I never go the chance to." I said truthfully. He seemed to be surprised, but nonetheless nodded his head in understanding.

The truth was, I couldn't because I was an Omega.

"And your family?"

"As far as I could remember, my mom was a blue and my dad was a green. But still, magic genes in our family wasn't strong--"

I was cut off when a kid came in crying her head out. A boy about 5 years my junior was carrying her as he set her down the bed. Sam quickly attended to her and hushed her tears. The boy eyed me for a while, but shortly left.

Sam ran to me as he looked over his watch. "Hey, could you keep that kid company for a bit, I need to go see Mr. Nick first or he'll throw a fit." he said. Oh dear, Mr. Nick truly was a handful. I nodded, standing up from my place and went over to the little girl.

She stared at her bleeding knee and was still silently crying. A tugging pain started in my heart and I had an urge to help her.

"Hey, sweetie. What happened?" I asked, ignoring the weird tug of pain. She looked up to me, tears in her eyes.

"Patrick pushed me and I fell! It hurts so much!" she started crying. I sat beside her and observed her injury a bit more closely.

I don't know what came over me, but as I started blowing gently on her wound and put my hand over it, there was this small glimmer of light out of nowhere. For a moment, I felt light as a feather, but strangely enough, it felt peaceful.

The girl's cries were shushed and all I could do was stare in confusion.

Uhm, did you see that? I asked my wolf.

What was that, Hannah? Did you just heal her?

But that's impossible, I don't have any magic in me remember?

Okay, so how do you explain that? She doesn't even have a bruise. Her knee is as good as new. Even that Sam couldn't have done that. My wolf replied.

And there she goes off with her fantasies about me being able to do magic.

"Oh, it's gone!" the little girl squealed happily.

I shook the shock off and smiled brightly at her. "Good!"

"Are you a healer Ms?" her hazel eyes brightly shone in confusion.

"Uh, no. But can I ask you a favour?" Thankfully, she nodded. "Please don't tell anyone about what you saw alright?"

She thought for a while, but eventually, she nodded. "Okay! I'll go get my revenge on Patrick then!m. Bye!" she said as she got off the bed and ran off like she never got injured.

As for me, I was just dumbfounded and struck. What was that light? Where did it come from?

Not even a a few minutes after the girl left, I felt a stinging pain and weakness on my right knee.

"Hm, where did she go?" Sam asked, looking around.

I started to feel a pang of nervousness so I started fixing my shirt. "Ah, she was fine. Werewolf genes kicked in fast I guess. Ah, I gotta go now." I start saying and I hoped that I wasn't too obvious.

As I was leaving, he was asking me if I was going to wait on Andrea but I was just too hurried on leaving that I didn't even answer him. Besides, I needed to get ready for dinner also.

Oh right, it's part of my routine also. Like it or not, I had been eating dinner with Ian for the past two weeks now.

Unlike before, we had small talks over dinner and through it, I had learned a lot about him through his small stories. I have started to learn that the Alpha of Panselinos was actually just a poor werewolf who had to learn to grow up fast because he had big and important responsibilities waiting for him.

I was still thinking about the weird happening with the little girl, but I tried to shake it off when I took a quick bath and dressed myself for dinner. However, I couldn't stop thinking about it.

What was that light? Why was she suddenly healed? Did I really heal her?

N-no, don't flatter yourself, Hannah.

The matter preoccupied me until dinner time even when I was sitting in front of Ian who usually disturbed my life. I was questioning and replaying the scenario in my head, over and over, but nothing seemed to make sense.

"Can you stop playing with your food?" Ian said begrudgingly. I looked down that the mushed potatoes were nowhere near edible now.

I didn't bother answering my mate and instead, found myself sighing.

Maybe I should check what my aura was, maybe I should see an elder. Come to think of it, I haven't met any elders yet. Nor any other high-ranking wolves.

I haven't even met the Gamma yet. Maybe they weren't here?

I heard a utensil dropping loudly against a plate and as I looked up, I was quite baffled when I saw my mate looking at me with an annoyed and irritated look.

"What's wrong with you?" I mumbled, asking. I wasn't really in the mood to deal with him right now.

"What's wrong with you?" Ian threw the question back at me.

That threw me off a bit. Hm, might as well ask him now. "I have a question actually."

He crossed his arms against his chest, interested with what I had to ask.

"How come I haven't met any of the high-ranking wolves? The Gamma? The Elders? The current Luna?"

His whole posture just went rigid. He fixed how he sat and looked at me. Okay, that's weird. "Why do you want to know?"

I shrugged. I definitely wasn't telling him about what happened earlier with the little girl. "Just a thought." I said instead.

"Actually, I was going to tell you today but you were being your sorry ass self. They had an urgent matter to attend to for a while, they're all coming back next week..." he trailed off, looking away and sometimes meeting my gaze. But I could see that there was something else that he wasn't saying.

I wanted to pry him to tell me more but I was just pumped up with the idea that the elders will be able to tell what my aura is.

"Really?! I will wait then!" I said excitedly and stood up, running to my room. I have to prepare for their arrival after all.
