Chapter 45....

Avery’s POV

The pain of being forced to live on felt deathly I couldn’t deal with the pain for much longer. My forearm burnt and my heart was heavy with guilt, I didn’t want to live I wanted to go through the sliver curtain to see what it was like. What was behind there?

“Avery, hold on” His voice was clear through the blackness this was where I had to wait in till they could push me back into my body. I couldn’t feel anything. See anything. Smell anything. I could even feel my wolf anymore. Is this what death felt like? I hoped not. It was so lonely here. I was trapped in the blackness.

How would they remember me? Would I be remembered as the girl who ran away and got herself killed? Or maybe I would be remembered as the girl who broke an Alpha’s heart? I hoped they would remember me as a simple girl who liked to be alone. I was the Alone girl.

“Avery please hold on if not for me then for our family that we could have!” his voice pled with me. My heart fluttered in my chest was that a good thing? Was it nearly over? The fear of being alone was growing more and more staying in this black pit of nothing!        Was I really the Alone girl?

“I love you” he whispered in despair. That is when it all happened. The sharp pain and the never ending blackness, I was goner! I was slipping away from everything I loved and I didn’t know where I was going.

I love you too I wanted to scream it, shout it to him but I couldn’t!

Ryan POV

“She going to be okay” someone said to me gently but I couldn’t listen. My mate was dying because of a head injury!

“We don’t know how much damage there is to the brain. We’ll have to send her for a head C.T scan and maybe an MRI too” the doctor said to me. “At the moment she is just concussion but her heart rate is lower than normal for a werewolf so that could be cause for concern.” She went on “But right now all we can do is observe her condition to see if it worsens” she gave me a sad expression before going back into the room where my mate lay all in white with wires and machines attached to her.

A low beep sound told me she was still alive.

“How is she?” Connor’s voice broke me out of my thoughts as he sat next to me.

“She’s in ICU” I said in a monotone voice. “They don’t know what wrong right now so they are doing some tests. They think that because she’s a werewolf it might help” I explained. We were in a hospital built by a werewolf, most of the doctors were werewolves and they know how to treat both humans and werewolves alike.

“But she hasn’t woken up yet?” He asked

“No her body has shut itself down to prevent any more damage it is trying to repair itself but something is wrong and it can’t” Holly said holding my hand tight trying to give me comfort “ How’s Misty?”

“They’ve patched her up and they keeping her in over night to do some obs. She wanted me to come down here to see if Avery’s alright” Connor smiled sadly at me “She’ll be alright man. I know my sister she’ll pull through!” he said getting up “Tell me if anything changes” I nodded as he went off back to his mate.

I sighed it had been a long day “Go back to the pack house Holly I’m fine and I tell you if anything changes” I said to a sleepy Holly.

“You sure?” she asked yawning I nodded and off she went.

“Can I go in?” I asked a doctor who nodded and let me through. I sat by her bed and held her hand.

“Avery, hold on” I said to her. Her face was so pale and her lips washed out, she looked as if she was dead. I sighed, feeling tears bubble up to the surface.

“Avery, please hold on if not for me then for our family that we could have!”  I could feel she was slipping away from me every second she lay there.

“I love you” I whispered to her.

I love you too! A voice whispered in my head that’s when it happened!

She was laying there peaceful and then... her body was moving controllable. Her eyes were open but had rolled in the back of her head and the beeping was rapid from the machine.

Two doctors burst through the door “Get him out” one said to a tall man who pushed me out. I pressed myself against the window to watch what was happening to my mate. My wolf was breaking and so was I. 

When she had finally stilled blood was coming from her ears and nose but other than that she seemed peaceful again. I saw doctors open her eye lids, checking her pulse and her temperature.

“She has had a seizure which means she isn’t in a coma which is good. Her pupils are responsive so that is also a good sign. We are not out of the woods get but it’s looking okay.” A doctor said “however she not waking up and the bleeding are not good and we’ll need to do some more tests!” he explained to me.

“Okay” I said sinking down into a sit “will she be...” I couldn’t bring myself to say it

“We don’t know. The brain is too complex and amazing to know what could cause anything. Problems happen but we just don’t know right now. We won’t know in till she wakes up” he said sadly pity washing over his eyes. “I am sorry” he said going back into the room where Avery lay.

“You can go in now” a nurse with blonde hair and a nice smile said “is she your girlfriend?” she asked as I took hold of Avery hand and kissed it. The nurse I smelt was human.

“She’s my soul mate” I said gazing at my beautiful mate.

“Oh that’s nice, how long have you two been together?” he asked as she checks Avery temperature, pulse, breathing, her pupils.

“Not that long” I said

“Oh how did you meet?” she smiled

“Her brothers my best friend” I said lying but nor caring.

“Oh so you have know her for a long time then”

“Yes” I said. I wasn’t lying our wolves had been in love for hundreds and hundreds of years.

“Oh that’s nice” she said going out the room I just nodded.

“Avery, why did you run?” I laid my head down on her bed.

“I’m sorry” a voice broke me out of my thoughts. The voice was light and sad but a little slurred. I froze. A hand lightly touched my head.

“Avery?” I looked up to see...
