Chapter XXI

Rosamund paced around in circles, lost in the dark forest.

"How am I supposed to get out of here?" She mumbled to herself as she looked towards the candle she had lit.

She was stuck, wandering in circles and the food she packed limited.

She didn't know how long she would last.

The only thing she could think about was getting home, after finding her daughter.

She had only wanted to find a way home to her family. She was scared amd didn't know what to do.

"Quirin... I'm trying... I'm really trying." Rose murmured as she broke down, crying as she looked around. "I just want to come home. I want to be with you again. I want to see Varian. I want you to meet our baby girl. I want everything to go back to how it was."

She fell to her knees and held herself after dropping her candle.

"I never should've come here. I don't need my kingdom back, I just want my family. I want my babies. I want my husband. I want to go home!"

💧

Aqua looked at the fairy in shock but smiled. "It's nice to meet you, Fawn. My name is Aquaria."

"I'm Varian," the dark haired alchemist introduced with a wave. "This is Ruddiger."

"That is such a cute name for this little guy! So, what are you guys doing in Pixie Hollow? I've never seen you around before and-" Fawn gasped as she looked at their backs. "You've lost you wings?! You poor things!"

"Oh! No, we didn't lose our wings. We never had wings. We aren't fairies," Aqua explained quickly with a smile.

Fawn stopped and stared at the princess curiously. "You aren't fairies?!"

"No. We're humans. I'm the princess of Corona and Varian is the royal alchemist, who also happens to be my boyfriend," Aquaria elaborated as she held Varian's hand happily.

"Humans? They what are you doing here and how did you get so tiny?" Fawn asked curiously.

Varian chuckled lightly as he looked at the bottles they had drank from now on the ground, still their usual size.

"We drank a potion to shrink us because we're looking for a fairy named Tinkerbelle. We were sent here because we were told she could help us find Peter Pan," the alchemist answered and Fawn smiled brightly.

"Well lucky for you, I happen to be great friends with Tink!" Fawn informed as she put her fists on her hips with a grin.

"Do you think you could take us to her?" Aqua requested eagerly.

Fawn laughed a little and nodded. "Of course! Come on!"

💧

Tinkerbelle futzed with the gears of the toy, trying to get it to start up.

She spun the nob and stood back, waiting excitedly for it to start bouncing around.

After a few minutes, she groaned, slumping a bit before stepping towards her project again.

"Hey, if you move the smaller gear up about a centimeter, it should catch and make the larger gear spin. Here, let me show you," a male voice came out of nowhere.

Tink jumped slightly as a black haired boy stepped up, tinkering with the toy.

"Now try!" He said with a beaming smile as the green clad fairy turned the nob.

The ladybug toy began to bounce forward and around in circles.

"Wow! Thanks!" Tinkerbelle said gratefully as she turned to see the boy who helped her.

She saw Fawn at the door with a brown haired girl and the boy who had helped her stood there with a smile.

"Who are you two? I don't think I've ever seen you before? Are you new fairies?" The blondie gasped excitedly. "Are you both Tinker fairies!"

The boy rubbed the back of his neck as he shook his head. "Nope, just an alchemist. Sorry. I just couldn't help myself. My name is Varian. I'm assuming you are Tinkerbelle?"

"That would be me," she confirmed with a smile. "Nice to meet you, Varian."

"And my name is Aquaria, but you can call me Aqua," Aquaria introduced as she walked forward to shake the fairy's hand. "We're humans. It's kind of a long story."

"Oh, so what are you two doing here?" Tinkerbelle asked curiously as she looked between them.

"We came here because we were told you could take us to Peter Pan. We need his help," Aqua answered and Tink straightened her back.

"Oh? What do you need Pan for?"

"He's the one who can take us to the Ever Realm," Varian replied to which Aqua nodded.

"Well, you came to the right place! I can take you to see Peter. Come on! Follow me!" Tinkerbelle instructed and flew out the door.

She turned back around quickly and saw them just standing there.

"Oh, right. Humans. Well, that's alright," Tink said as she flew over and sprinkled some pixie dust over the both of them. "Just don't get wet and you'll be fine!"

The two began to float and Varian held onto Aquaria's hand tightly.

"How are we supposed to- wahh!" Varian yelped as he took a nose dive, but Aqua pulled him back up since he dragged her with.

"Just keep your body straight and lean the way you want to go," Tinkerbelle explained and Aqua nodded.

"We'll get it," she said with a smile.

Aqua let go of Varian's hand, much to his displeasure, and began swerving around in the air. Suddenly a gust of wind pushed her up and she let out a squeal.

"What was that?" Tink asked as she shot up to help Aqua back down to Varian's level.

"I'm not sure. Something is going on with my magic," Aqua said and Tinkerbelle raised a brow as they finally got to Ruddiger who was playing with Fawn.

"You have magic? But you're human," Tink replied.

"Yeah, but I'm able to control water. Though lately I seem to be affecting the wind. I'm not sure how," Aqua answered as she looked at her hands while landing on Ruddiger's back.

"You know, maybe it has to do with what Elsa said. After you touched that giant, she said that the bridge was complete," Varian spoke up, glad to back on Ruddiger's back instead of in the air.

"You may be right. I'll ask her when we get back if we don't figure it out by then," Aqua said.

"Alright. For now, let's get you to Peter. Hey, Fawn. Can you lend some pixie dust for Ruddiger?" Tink asked and the animal fairy nodded.

"Here you go!" Fawn said as she sprinkled the dust on Ruddiger.

"Woah!" Ruddiger squeaked as he flailed his legs.

Aqua laughed as Varian clutched Ruddiger's fur. "We're all ready. Let's go!"

💧

They made their way through the woods as Tinkerbelle told them stories of the when she had been to the mainland.

"Time travels differently here so in theorym we can enter and exit at any point in time, year wise. The seasons stay the same though," she explained and Aqua nodded as she flew beside the tinker fairy.

"So fairies really do bring the seasons? That's so cool!" Aqua said with a bright smile.

"Yeah! Normally tinker fairies don't get to travel to the mainland, but I have and now sometimes I go with Peter," Tink said as she spun around in the air. "The world is so beautiful!"

"It can be. There's a spot we go to all the time near my home. It's near the edge of a cliff. It is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been and it's a really special place to me," Aquaria replied and Varian perked up from on Ruddiger's back, listening to their conversation. "It was where we had our first date."

"Aw! That's so cute!" Tink giggled a little with a smile.

Aqua then groaned as her stomach got queezy.

"Why exactly do you need to get the the Ever Realm though?" Tink asked curiously.

"My mom is stuck there," Varian spoke up and the two girls looked back at him.

Aqua couldn't help but smile as she watched Ruddiger float through the air, looking happy as could be.

"So you're trying to get your mother back home? How did she get stuck?"

"Well, she used a book and it sent her to the Ever Realm, at least we think it did. We're really hoping it did," Varian explained before he grabbed his stimach. "Woah... that's not a fun feeling."

Aqua yelped as she lost her balance in the air, her body enlarging.

"Varian, you should get off of Ruddiger," Aqua warned and he nodded, letting himself float closer to Aqua before he started getting bigger. "I'm assuming the effects are wearing off finally."

"I guess so," Varian replied before looking back at Tinkerbelle.

All they could hear were little rings like belles shaking as she flew around them and she was pointing ahead of them as they approached a tree that looked dead.

There were ropes hanging from the dead limbs and light came from inside the holes in the stumps.

"So, this is where he lives?" Aqua asked as they landed on the ground.

She held out a hand for Tink to land on as the little fairy nodded quickly.

Varian and Aqua walked up, knocking on what looked like the door.

"Um, hello?" Varian spoke as he knocked again.

There was a noise that sounded like animals howling. Rustling in the bushes got louder and louder before one little boy jumped out towards them.

He started almost barking at them and Aqua jumped slightly.

"Hello?" She questioned as she looked at the boy curiously. He was dressed like a skunk and holding a wooden sword.

"Who's you?" The boy asked as he pointed the sword at them.

"My name is Princess Aquaria," she introduced and the boy dropped his sword in awe.

"A princess? A real princess? Well where's your crown?" Another boy jumped out in a fox suit.

Aqua smiled and made a tiara out of ice in her hand. She gently placed the tiara on her head and the rest of the boys gasped.

"She is a princess!" The skunk boy said and all the boys started gathering around her and cheering.

Aqua laughed at their excitment and watched as they danced around her. "I only have one question for you boys. Do you know where Peter Pan is? Tinkerbelle here said that he would be here."

"And here I am!"

Aqua and Varian looked up and saw a ginger boy dressed in green.

"Peter Pan?" Aqua assumed and he took off his hat, circling it around before bowing in front of Aqua, still floating a bit above the ground.

"At your service! You wanted to see me?" He asked and Varian nodded.

"Yes. We were told that you could take us to the Ever Realm," the alchemist said and Peter flitted his feet in the air.

"Well, absolutely! But I need a payment first!" Peter said and Aqua raised a brow. "Can you tell us a story? We haven't gotten a good one in a little while."

"Of course! Sit down!" Aqua said to which all the boys sat down in front of her.

The boys were all trying to be in front, arguing over who was in the middle.

"Alright, well, once upon a time, there was a baby girl who was sent away when she was only a week old."

This made the boys gasp and quiet down finally.

"She was taken away by a magical horse. That horse took her to a beautiful castle where the king and queen found her. They took in the baby girl and raised her to be the next queen of that kingdom. She grew up with her best friend who was always by her side. She had a beloved family and they were super close. But one day, her best friend asked for help to find his family that he had lost a long time ago," Aqua said in a dramatic voice.

"He lost his family? So he's a lost boy, like us!" The skunk giggled as he rolled around, bumping into Aqua's legs.

Aqua scooped him up and sat down, cradling the boy in her arms. "Kind of, yes. So the little princess set out to help her friend so they could get his family back. They met an evil king and found a kingdom of merfolk! The even met some pirates! They got to meet a beautiful fairy who took them to a mystically young boy to take them to her friend's family."

"So did they find his family?" One of the twins asked as he leaned forward.

"They did! They set across the seas and brought his family home! And they lived happily ever after," Aqua said as she tapped the skunk boy's nose.

"Did they get married?" The little boy asked and Aqua laughed lightly.

"They sure did," she confirmed with a smile.

Varian blushed lightly and smiled as he leaned against a tree. He loved watching her tell them the story, the way she cradled the small boy in her arms. It made him think about if she would tell the same story to their children in the future. The thought made his cheeks darken even more and he looked down, not wanting Aqua to look back and see his beat red face.

"That was such a good story! Another one! Another one!" The boys began to cheer.

"I think that's enough for now," Peter said and the boys groaned.

"Thank you, Peter. We really should be going," Aqua said with a nod.

"But you will come back to tell us more, right?" The skunk boy asked.

"Of course! I'll have plenty more to tell you all when I see you again!" Aqua said as she stood up before setting down the young child.

"Alright then! Let's be off!"

Tinkerbelle shook a little more pixie dust over Aqua before Varian walked over to receive some as well. Tink landed on top of the fox boys head before waving goodbye.

The lifted off the ground and Aqua waved.

"Goodbye!" She said as she flew away.

"Bye, princess!" The boys called back.

Varian chuckled as he held Ruddiger in his arms, still not really feeling comfortable with flying yet.

"We just have to go on the other side of the North Star!" Peter said and they both nodded.

Closing her eyes, Aqua felt the wind rush against her face as they flew into the sky.

Peter gave a shout as he flew forward and flipped around. "You can open your eyes there princess!"

Aqua opened her eyes and she sucked in a breath.

There was a palace in the distance and the land was a stunning green hue.

"The Ever Realm!"
