Dear Diary,

Stunned by the boy's sudden appearance, I backed away a few paces, my eyes wide in astonishment.

The boy, his deep hazel eyes boring right into mine, didn't seem amused by the situation at all. In fact, he looked angry.

"I asked what you were doing here," he repeated, his words stronger and more forceful than they had been before. "Answer the question!"

I gaped at him. "I - I ..."

"I don't recognise you from around these parts. Who are you? And why do you think that gives you the right to come waltzing into my father's shop when it's closed?"

"Y-you're closed?" I stammered.

He motioned to the sign on the door and I, my heart sinking in disappointment and embarrassment, followed his line of sight.

There it was. Clear as day. Smack bang in the middle of the door.

It was a sign that said, in big, bold letters, C L O S E D.

"Oh my god!" I gasped as I fumbled around for my shoes which I had ditched somewhere upon entering. "I ... am ... so ... sorry. I didn't realise you were closed. I didn't even see the sign. You know, you should probably lock up if you are closed though. I'm sure I'm not the only person that's done this, right? I mean..."

The boy heaved a long, deep breath as he studied me. "Can you get out?"

I froze. "Er...sure." As I scrambled over to the door, I glanced back at him over my shoulder and, being the dork that I was, called out, "Nice to meet you by the way. My name's Jo. And you are..."

"None of your business," he retorted as he crossed his arms over his broad chest.

I frowned. "C'mon. Dude. Seriously? Just because it looks like I broke in - which I clearly and obviously didn't - it doesn't mean that you can be rude and refuse to be civil..." my voice trailed off upon seeing a scowl flash across the boy's features. "Okay, okay, I'm going. Chill."

Pushing down on the door-handle, I ungracefully tumbled back outside. Turning around, I watched as the dark-haired boy bent down and secured the entrance behind me. Looking up to see me staring at him, he visibly ground his teeth together in annoyance and waved me away.

Rolling my eyes and pouting, I spun around and stomped off, trying to cover up the heated flush seeping into my cheeks.

I couldn't believe it. I hadn't even been in Hawaii for one day and I had already been mistaken for a laundry maid and broken into a shop!

I sighed.

My life was awesome.

About fifteen minutes later, I dragged myself back through the doors of my father's magnificent mansion. As I prepared to go back upstairs, I was suddenly arrested by the shrill laughter of a woman.

A frown etched its way across my brow. The sound seemed to be coming from my father's office!

Before I had a chance to make my escape, however, the door leading into the office swung open; my father and a petite blonde woman who was hanging onto his arm emerged.

"Jo!" he exclaimed upon seeing me. "W-what are you doing down here? I thought you were asleep?"

I couldn't reply. All I was capable of doing was looking between him and the woman with the greatest apprehension and suspicion.

"Oh, never mind that now, my dear Earnest," the woman chortled. "I know you were saving the surprise til later but why don't we just tell her now? She'll be my daughter soon as well, you know."

Daughter?

I gazed at her in shock.

What the hell?
