Chapter 30: Deadlines & Alarms

December 8th (Lilycove City, Hoenn)

(Leaf's POV)

I was currently lying on one of the couches in the common area half-asleep as I had nothing better to do. It was Friday afternoon and I had already finished my homework with Gary's help. May was dead asleep on the other couch while Dawn was visiting Maylene and Misty had to go to the Cerulean Gym to help her sisters with something. The guys were currently sitting on the floor playing poker. Why? They still felt bad about the whole gaming thing so they decided to ban themselves from playing for a few weeks. What comes to mind in doing something that's not video games....poker.

I snuggled further into the couch wrapped in a blanket wearing sweatpants and a hoodie that I borrowed *cough* stole *cough* from Gary. I was in absolute comfort and felt nothing could shatter this peace.

"HELLO!" a voice shouted super loudly causing me to sit up in surprise with a shout while May fell off her couch with a shout.

"Wally?! What the hell?!" May shouted in annoyance as I felt my nerves stand on edge.

I felt Gary pull me into a side hug to try and help calm me down, "Why not hello? It's been a while since we've talked."

"Umm....May? Who is this guy?" Ash asked confused.

"Ugh," May groaned as I heard her moving around. "This is Wendell Wally, owner of Wally's Wacky Pizzeria and owner of Wally Industries."

"You betcha!" he said enthusiastically.

"Why are you calling Wally and how they hell did you get this signal?!" May asked suspiciously.

"What? Can't a guy call? I'm hurt," Wally complained dramatically.

"You never call," May said flatly.

"Well, I'm calling now," Wally retorted.

"Why and again, how did you get this signal, it's private," May snapped.

"It's not private if it's hackable. Besides, I've been hacking you for the past weeks. I know what goes on in your life. Even your friends," he bragged.

"Stalker much," I muttered.

"Why the hell are you hacking me and my friends?" May demanded.

"Because I wanted to make sure you were making progress on the contest album. But since you haven't done squat, I have to call you and tell you to do it," Wally answered.

"Why?" May asked.

"Cause I got $20,000 riding on ya," Wally said excitedly.

"Excuse me?" May said with slight sass and annoyance in her tone as I heard her stand up.

"Yeah, there's a huge pool going around of who's gonna win. My bet's on you and the odds are against you cause everyone says you're too lovesick to enter," Wally continued. "So as an incentive to enter the contest, I took 10,000 out of your account and added it to the pot."

"Excuse me?!" May said in a shout of anger as I heard her move. "What the fuck Wally! Why did you do that? That's theft!"

"To get you to do the contest, duh?" Wally said as if speaking to a child.

"Umm....what is going on? I am really confused right now," Ash said.

"If it's a contest May, it can't be too hard to win. You have won the title of Top Coordinator in all regions," I said.

"It's not that kind of contest," May said tiredly. "It's a mini-song album competition. The winner gets a chance to have two of their songs in the soundtrack of the next Heartache film and a chance to feature in Crimson 6's new song."

"Wow, that sounds awesome!" Ash said enthusiastically.

"See, you friend thinks you should do it," Wally pointed out.

"I'm not doing it. I don't have time," May answered as I heard move and sit on the couch.

"Liar, you have all the time in the world and the theme of the album is not that hard," Wally pfft.

May said nothing, "What's the theme?" Drew asked.

May sighed, "It's around the lines of heartbreak or tension in a relationship," May said quietly before her voice raised, "and I'm not doing it, I don't have time."

"Sure ya do," Wally insisted.

"Fine, I do have time, but I don't want to do it," May stated firmly.

"Oh come on. If you're having trouble with the theme, just hang around with you friend who broke up with boyfriend for a short bit," Wally suggested nonchalantly.

"Excuse me!" May and I snapped as I stood up.

"Look, I know you can win it kid. You just need to get yourself in the groove. Now I expect great things from ya so hop to it," he said before he ended the call.

"The nerve of that.....," May said before she started to mumble.

"How do you know him?" Paul asked as I sat back down.

"He's the one I go to for gadgets when Max is unavailable. He's a big inventor besides controlling his company, but he is very eccentric," May explained.

"How long have you known about this competition?" Drew asked.

"Around the end of September, it's just that I really don't want to write those kind of songs," May explained tiredly.

"You're worried it will affect our relationship?" Drew asked.

"I don't know. It's just that we've been through a lot of stress in our relationship the past few months and I'd rather focus on the positive things," May answered.

"But this is a good opportunity for you and most artists write about this sort of thing all the time," Drew pointed out.

"But....," May started.

"No buts, no matter what you write, it won't hurt our relationship," Drew promised as I heard them kiss.

May sighed, "Fine, how else am I going to get my $10,000 back?" she said sarcastically. "Ugh, but I have no way of writing these songs. Dare I say I have no inspiration to do so. I'm too high on our relationship."

I heard Drew chuckle, "Hmm.....Leaf, you interested in a singing career?" May asked.

I felt attention shift on me, "Huh?" I asked.

"I don't want to tackle this on my own and you keep complaining of being bored so why not help make this a duo album?" May asked.

"I don't know," I said carefully. "Wouldn't Dawn be a better pick?"

"She's busy for the next few days with Paris. Besides, we haven't done anything fun in a while and you don't have to worry about not being able to see," May pointed out before sighing. "And Wally did have a slight point, we could put our negative feelings together and come up with something."

I sighed as I turned to face Gary, "You okay if I do this?"

"You don't need my permission Leafy," he teased.

"I want it though," I said. "I'm like May in where I don't want this to come between us."

"It's not," Gary said seriously as he pulled me close and kissed me. "Think of it as a constructive outlet."

"Okay," I said as I kissed him back. "Thanks for being understanding."

May sighed loudly, "I suppose we better get to work. We've got 12 days to create 4 songs," she said as she stood up.

"12 days?!" I gasped as I heard her help me up. "You sure we can make it in time."

"Yea, we'll be fine. I've had shorter deadlines," May pfft.

"You sure, you're up to it. I've noticed you've been more tired and worn out recently," I said concerned.

"I'm just probably coming down with something. It's been a while since I've been sick," she said.

"Don't jinx yourself," Drew warned.

December 11th (Lilycove City, Hoenn)

(May's POV)

"What did I say?" Drew said as we heard the bell excuse us from school.

"Shut up, I didn't jinx myself," I said as I sneezed.

"That says otherwise," Drew teased before looking at me concerned. "But seriously though, you haven't looked well for the past few weeks. Maybe you should see the doctor."

"If I go, will it put your mind at ease?" I asked tiredly.

Drew pulled me into a side hug and kissed my head, "Yes."

I sighed, "Alright, I'll go see someone right now. I'll be back in a little while."

I hugged Drew before walking away and pulling out my compowder.

I punched in a number and heard the line ring, "Petalburg Medical Center," someone answered.

"Hi, is Dr. Remmie available?" I asked.

"Let me check," they said before I heard crappy hold music play.

I sighed, it's not so much the choice of hold music that annoys me, but how it always has static.

After a minute, the music disappeared, "Dr. Remmie."

"Hi Dr. Remmie, it's May Maple," I answered.

"Well...," Dr. Remmie chirped, "I haven't seen you in quite a while. How have you been?"

"I've been doin' pretty good. I actually called to see if I could come in. I have an overprotective boyfriend who thinks I think to see the doctor," I said with a slight grin.

"Anything serious?" Dr. Remmie asked.

"I don't think so. I think I have a cold, but I promised I'd see a doctor," I answered.

"Probably should. When was the last time you had a physical?"

"Uh...." I said trying to remember.

"Exactly. According to your medical records, it's been 2 years."

"Ouch," I said as I slightly winced. "Think you can squeeze me in this afternoon to get all this done?"

"Are you nearby?" Dr. Remmie asked.

"I can get there in 10 minutes."

"Excellent! I'll have the receptionist write you down. See you shortly."

I closed my compact and made my way into the house.

"Hey May, you ready to work on the album?" Leaf asked.

"It'll have to wait, I was able to squeeze my way into seeing the doctor," I called as I made my upstairs to drop off my backpack and grab Gardevoir's pokeball.

"You feel that sick!" Leaf shouted so I could hear her.

"No, someone's just really overprotective!" I shouted back as I made my way back downstairs.

"Gee, I wonder who that could be?" Leaf asked sarcastically.

I rolled my eyes as I sat next to Drew and kissed his cheek.

"In the meantime, keep hashing at phrases and lyrics. I'll help mold them when I get back," I said.

"What about the instrumental parts?" Leaf asked.

"I've called in some favors to some musician friends of mine. I've given them the low down and they'll have their parts sent to me in a few days," I explained as I stood up. "See ya later."

I then called out Gardevoir and had her teleport me to the doctor's office. I was then taken back and Dr. Remmie had me checked out and I updated her with any medical tidbits that happened to me since I last saw her.

"You have certainly been busy," Dr. Remmie commented as she updated her notes. "For right now, anything bothering you?"

I sighed, "Lately, I don't feel like I've had as much energy as I used to, especially after using my powers. Even for simple things, I feel as if someone is stealing my energy."

Dr. Remmie frowned slightly and made a note, "I notice that you do look a bit tired and sluggish. Today morning, I want you to come back here and have blood work done to complete your physical, maybe that will tell us something that explains your sluggishness. In the meantime, take it easy otherwise you'll have a harsh cold on your heels."

I nodded, "Thanks Dr. Remmie."

She smiled, "Take care May, nice to see you."

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

December 13th (Lilycove City, Hoenn)

"Thank Mew!" Dawn shouted as we got to our usual lunch table. "I am exhausted!"

"From what? You haven't done anything today," Misty retorted.

"Says you, that Calc test was tough as nails!" Dawn whined as she dropped her head on the table.

"Relax Troublesome, you did fine," Paul said as he started to eat.

I felt my pocket vibrate and pulled out my compowder, "Hello?"

"May, this is Dr. Remmie. I have the results of your blood work," she answered.

"What do they say?" I asked.

"Everything for the most part looks okay, but there are a few red flags. For one, your B12 levels are really low. You need to start taking an oral supplement. If there's not improvement in four weeks, we'll have to put you on a series of shots."

I frowned, "Is it a big problem?" I asked.

"No, but it can explain as to why you feel sluggish. Have you been having enough protein?"

"Yea, I'm pretty good about making sure I get everything I'm supposed to."

"That's strange then that you're B12 levels are so low," Dr. Remmie murmured.

"Was there anything else?" I asked.

Dr. Remmie sighed, "Your complete blood count is high," she said causing me to stiffen. "Higher than it should be for a cold."

"Does that mean.....?" I started to say afraid to ask.

"Not necessarily, it can be a lot of things. Either way, I want some more testing done. Unfortunately, the tests can't be done here."

"Where's the best place to have them done?" I asked with everyone staring at me at this point.

"In LaRousse City, they have the best technology for testing. Can you get there to have testing done?"

"That's not a problem," I said as I began to push the food around on my tray.

"I'll call them now to arrange the tests. I'll call you back in a little while."

"Thanks, bye," I said as I shut my compowder and sighed.

"Everything okay?" Misty asked in concern.

"Yea, they just found some irregularities in my blood work that explain me being tired recently," I said as I tried to start eating.

"Like what?" Ash asked.

"My B12 levels are lower than normal, which explains my fatigue. Nothing supplements won't cure," I said.

"What else?" Drew asked frowning.

"What makes you think there's something else?" I asked.

Drew sighed, "May, please stop lying to me. You know I can read your aura and I watched you during your call. What else is there?"

I felt my head droop forward with a sigh as I set my fork down, "My complete blood count is really high," I murmured as I grabbed my drink.

"What does that mean?" Dawn asked.

"It's one of the early signs of cancer," I said bluntly.

"WHAT?!" everyone shouted.

"Geez, why not just alert the whole school," I said sarcastically, "And relax, it may be a sign for cancer or it could be something else."

"Do they want you to have more testing?" Drew asked.

I nodded, "The doctor is trying to arrange it."

"Where are you having them done?" Leaf asked.

"The doctor is hoping to have them done in La Rousse. They're one of the top cities in having the best medical technology. Anyway, I'm sure it's not cancer," I stated firmly.

"How do you know that?" Drew asked concerned.

"Call it a hunch. Besides, a high blood count can could from fighting an infection. Probably from the small cold I'm battling."

Drew frowned, but said nothing.

I placed my hand on his arm, "Drew, I'm sure it's nothing. Please relax, okay?"

He let out a deep sigh, but said nothing. I then knew that no matter what I said to him, he would not worry until I was tested and the results spoke for themselves.

"How's the mini album coming along?" Gary asked snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Pretty good, we've got 2 songs recorded, the third is almost done, and we have some lyrics down for the fourth," Leaf explained.

"I'm still surprised I've been able to sing with being sick and all," I said honestly.

"Are you doing more with it after school?" Misty asked.

"We have to since we're running out of time," I pointed out.

"True," Dawn agreed. "Hey Misty, you wanna do SOD after school?"

"Sure, I want to try and gain another level and it's been a while since we've played."

"Aw come on Mist, you're really gonna play?" Ash whined.

"It was your guys' choice to give up on gaming Ketchum," I reminded as I finished my lunch.

Ash groaned as everyone else finished and we through away our lunches.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

December 20th (Rosewall Town, Hoenn)

"That's a wrap!" I said proudly yet tiredly.

"Thank goodness, I thought we'd never finish," Leaf said tiredly as she took a drink of water.

"And we even finished a bonus song if you can believe that," I added.

"I still find it hard to believe," Leaf said as I sat at the computer in my music studio in the basement of the bungalow to put the finishing touches to the song.

"You feeling better or are you still exhausted from testing? Leaf asked.

"I feel a lot better. The cold went away a few days ago and I'm starting to feel better from the supplements. As for the testing, I'm just glad it is over and done with," I admitted.

"Is Drew still worried?" Leaf asked.

I sighed and nodded, "Nothing will ease his mind til the results of the tests come back negative."

Leaf nodded as I downloaded the songs onto a flash drive.

"Alright, we're now in business!" I shouted in triumph.

"About time!" a voice called.

"AH!" Leaf screamed.

"Calm down Leaf, it's just Wally," I explained before glaring at him on the screen. "What the hell did I say about doing that!"

"You didn't say anything," Wally reminded.

"Well stop. You're scaring my friend because she can't see you pop up like that," I said with a slight snap.

"Relax Maple," he said as a small box with an envelope appeared next to me. "Put the flash drive in here and I'll send it to Chatot Records."

I looked at him skeptical, "What? I don't trust the mail system to get it there on time and you only have 7 hours til the deadline. I have interests to protect ya know."

I sighed and put the flash drive and entry info in the envelope.

"Pleasure doing business kid," he said before the box and his image disappeared.

"You sure make strange acquaintances," Leaf said breathily.

"You okay?" I asked in concern.

"Yea, just need to calm down. He scared me."

"I can imagine. Hopefully he'll stop now that we finished the mini album," I said tiredly.

"So what happens now?" Leaf asked.

"Everyone's entries will be reviewed in the next few days and they should have a winner right after Christmas."

"Wow! That's quick. I'd figure it take weeks to judge everyone," Leaf said surprised.

"You'd think so and it normally does, but they're doin' it differently."

"Well, we better get back to the house. I have a feeling its chaos there."

I looked at her confused, "What makes you say that?"

"A hunch," she said as I called out Gardevoir to teleport us.

When we got to the house, it was chaos. Stuff was overturned and thrown about with crashing noises coming from the kitchen.

"We got it now," I heard Ash shout before squeals were heard and more crashing.

Out came a scared shroomish. He didn't see where he was going and bumped into us. He squealed again and ran upstairs.

"What was that and what is going on?!" Leaf said startled.

I gently grabbed her arm and carefully guided her to a couch to sit as the guys stumbled in.

"What happened here?" I asked.

"A stray shroomish got inside and we can't shoo it out," Drew said tiredly.

"Where'd it go?" Ash panted.

"Upstairs." I said.

"Crap," Paul muttered as they ran upstairs.

"You okay Leaf?" I asked concerned.

"I'll be okay," she said trying to take deep breathes. "What is this? Scare Leaf day?"

I chuckled, "I'm gonna go try and help, you okay by yourself?"

"Year, I'll be fine," she answered.

I climbed up the stairs two at a time and saw the shroomish run from my room into Dawn's.

"Shit," Paul cursed.

I ran in to find the shroomish running around and knocking stuff over, avoiding everyone. It ran past me into Leaf's room. We chased it and finally had it cornered. In fear, it sprayed stun spore causing us to cough. It ran away only to run into Leaf. She knelt down and hugged it. It shouted and squirmed, but Leaf didn't let go.

"Hey, it's okay. There's no need to be scared," she said calmly.

It continued to squirm as it sprayed stun spore right into Leaf's face.

"Le....!" Gary started to shout, but I held my hand out to stop him.

Leaf coughed, but held tighter, "It's okay Shroomish. Everything will be alright."

After a minute, the shroomish finally stopped squirming and began to cry.

"Hey, it's okay. No one's gonna hurt you," Leaf cooed.

"Speak for yourself," Paul muttered.

She then started coughing and spazing causing us to cry out in alarm.

Drew pulled out a pokeball, "Roserade, use Aromatherapy," he shouted as he threw it.

"Rose....rade!" she shouted as she used Aromatherapy.

As she did that, I went over to the window and opened it. We started breathing fine, but Leaf was still coughing. She let go of the shroomish and keeled over.

"Leaf!" we shouted as the shroomish cried out in alarm.

Gary and I got over to her first, "Help me lay her flat," I told him.

"Roserade, use Aromatherapy again," I called as I prepared to move it.

Roserade released it and I gathered it into a sphere to surround Leaf's head.

"Breathe deeply Leaf," I called as I focused on slowly putting Aromatherapy in to her lungs.

After 5 minutes, Leaf was breathing normally as well as the rest of us.

"What the hell happened in here!!" I heard Dawn screech causing all of us to flinch.

"Here we go," Paul sighed in annoyance.

"We're in Leaf's room!" I hollered.

I heard thundering up the steps til Misty and Dawn appeared in the door way.

"What happened?" Misty asked as Dawn looked across the way.

"And what the fuck happened to my room!!" Dawn screeched.

"Troublesome, I know this is upsetting to you, but can you please stop screeching. I've got a headache," Paul grumbled.

Dawn disappeared as the guys explained what happened. When they got to the part where Leaf and I came back, Dawn came back with a glass of water and meds and handed it to Paul.

He gave an appreciated nod and took the meds as Ash finished explaining.

"So what now?" Misty asked.

"Cleaning," I muttered before looking at the guys. "Gary, take Leaf outside so she can keep getting fresh air. The rest of you can clean downstairs while the girls and I tackle our rooms. Did Shroomish use stun spore downstairs?"

"No, he only used it in here," Drew reported.

"Well that makes things a little bit easier," I sighed before looking at Leaf. "I don't think you'll get your room tonight."

"Figured as much, I'll figure out my sleeping arrangements," she said tiredly.

By the time it was 11:45, everything was clean except Leaf's room.

"I'm beat, we'll tackle Leaf's room tomorrow," Dawn said tiredly with a yawn.

"How's Shroomish?" I asked.

"He's more relaxed now," Leaf said as she bet Shroomish's head as he slept. "He was chased by a beedrill earlier and was running on fear til I calmed him down."

"He didn't go back into the forest?" I asked.

Leaf shook her head, "He didn't want to leave."

"We'll see how he feels in the morning," I decided as I yawned. "Maybe he wanted to go back when it was light out."

"Oh yeah, May, did you finish the album in time?" Misty asked.

I nodded again, "We had 7 hours to spare and we'll find out the results in a few days."

"Really?!" Ash said surprised, "I thought it took months?"

"It normally does, but they have a lot of people helping with the judging," I explained.

"Hey Leaf," I asked remembering her hunch from earlier. "You said you had a hunch about it being chaotic here. How did you know?"

Leaf shrugged her shoulder, "I just had a feeling."

I did a quick calculation in my head and looked at the clock. I bolted and began to shut off all the lights and close the shades.

"May, what are you.....?" Misty started as Leaf began shaking and light began to glow from her eyes.

After a couple of seconds, the light faded, "How do you feel?" I asked her.

"I don't really know, all I feel right now is a headache," she moaned as she gripped her head.

"That's expected. Don't worry, it should be gone when you get up later today," I said.

I heard her yawn, "Okay," she mumbled before she fell asleep."

"Hey May, why did you turn off the lights anyway?" Ash asked.

"Because the light would have burned Leaf's eyes. She's gotten used to darkness for a month. If you think being in the dark and then being exposed to bright light in a short period is painful, what about Leaf's case?"

"Good point," Ash agreed.

Dawn yawned, "I think it's time we called it a night," she said as she stood up and stretched. "Night you guys."

We followed her lead and went upstairs. I watched Drew as he looked tired and worried while climbing up, I really need to talk to him.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

December 21st (Lilycove City, Hoenn)

(Leaf's POV)

I was half-asleep, curled into something warm causing me to sigh in content when I heard an alarm go off. I heard groaning as the warm thing moved to shut it off.

It then came back and gently began to shake me, "Leafy, you need to get up."

I curled into the warm thing, "Don't wanna," I mumbled sleepily.

I felt the warm thing chuckle as it gently shook me again, "Come Leafy, we have school."

"School can screw itself," I grumbled.

I felt Gary chuckle again and kiss my temple, "I don't think it works that way."

I grumbled under my breath as I slowly opened my eyes. I blinked a few times to adjust my eyes to the light coming in the room and turned up to see Gary looking at me lovingly.

"I never thought I'd miss the green sparkle in your eyes so much," he murmured as he kissed me.

I broke the kiss and looked at him, taking every detail in as I raised my hand to cup the side of his face. Every detail about him came out sharply. I kissed him again.

"How are your eyes?" Gary asked.

"They're fine, everything looks so sharp after not seeing it for so long, colors seem brighter," I explained.

Gary nodded as he kissed my nose, "As much as I want to stay in bed with you Leafy, we should get up."

"Kill joy," I muttered as I got up and stretched.

After stopping by Dawn's room to borrow some clothes, I made it downstairs to find the girls eating breakfast, but the guys were missing.

"Where'd the guys go?" I asked as I grabbed a bowl for cereal.

"They got called away on a mission. They should be back by third period," Dawn explained.

"Hopefully, it'll be the last of the missions for a while since Christmas is in a few days," I added.

"Who knows? Villains are morons and don't pay attention to time," May muttered.

"Anything from the doctor?" I asked.

May shook her head, "This is ridiculous. It shouldn't take this long to get test results back," Misty commented.

"Yeah, but who knows, machines could be broken or there's an overload of tests to be analyzed. It can be a lot of things," May pointed out.

"Still though, it's not helping Drew. The longer for the results, the more worried he's going to be," Dawn commented.

May sighed, "I'll talk to him the minute I see him."

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

(May's POV)

"So much as for talking," I muttered aloud to myself as I watched the clock on the classroom wall.

We were in our final class of the day and I haven't had a chance to talk to Drew, and it was beginning to annoy me. Instead of the guys coming back third period, they made it back at the end of the lunch and every time since then in where Drew had a moment, something would prevent me from talking to him.

At last the bell rang and Drew and I began to pack our stuff, "Hey May, we should practice with our aura since it's been a few days. I'll meet you at the usual spot," Drew said as he began to walk toward the door.

"Drew?" I asked trying to catch him.

"Drew!" I shouted only to lose him in the sea of students.

"What the hell?!" I seethed as I stomped out and made my way to the house.

I dropped my stuff off and changed before meeting at our usual practice spot. Seeing that Drew wasn't there, I decided to try and meditate only my mind was in too much turmoil to focus. By the time Drew showed up and we fought a few rounds practicing with our aura swords, I lost it.

"Okay, that's it," I said after I won the fifth round. "Drew, we need to talk."

Drew gave me a blank look, "There's nothing to talk about."

"The hell there's not!" I snapped before breathing deeply. "Babe, you're avoiding me and you aren't talking to me. Hell, I just beat your ass in swordplay five times in a row. I don't have to read your aura to know you're worried and stressed. Please, talk to me."

Drew sighed still not saying anything as he sat up from his position on the ground. I knelt on my knees and placed my hands on the side of his face to look at me.

"Drew, I know you're worried about me possibly having cancer," I said causing him to close his eyes in guilt. "But it's not the end of the world. I'm not worried about it and neither should you. Everything will turn out okay."

I brought my face to his and kissed him, "I promise. I'm never leaving you again. Life may throw everything at me, but you're not gonna get rid of me that easily," I said with a smile.

Drew chuckled and pulled me into a tight hug, "Damn right," he whispered.

"Someone's possessive," I teased as my compowder rang.

I detached myself from Drew and answered it, "Hello."

"Hi May, this is Dr. Remmie. I have the results of your tests, they came back negative and clear."

I sighed in relief, "That's great to hear."

"How are you feeling?"

"A lot better, the vitamin supplement is helping quite a bit," I reported.

"That's good to hear. Anyway, I just wanted to call and let you know. Merry Christmas."

"Merry Christmas," I said as I hung up.

I looked to see Drew looking at me expectantly, "Well?"

I put my compowder away and smiled, "I'm in the clear."

Drew then picked me up and spun me around before kissing me, "Thank Arceus," he murmured.

"See, I told you everything would turn out okay," I teased as I kissed him again.

"Come on, we better get to the house to say our good byes before we all split," Drew said as he started leading me back to the house.

After a while, we made it and saw everyone gathered in the common area with their stuff.

"There you guys are, we wondering if we'd have to send out a search party," Gary teased.

I rolled my eyes, "We were busy training."

"Sure you were," Leaf teased causing me to stick out my tongue in retort.

"You guys such look happier, what's up?" Misty asked.

Dawn gasped, "Did you get the results of your tests?"

I nodded, "I free and clear."

Everyone then began to smile and comment how they happy they were to hear that.

"Hard to believe we won't be together for Christmas this year," Dawn murmured.

"We'll be okay, so long as I doesn't get kidnapped," I teased.

Drew tensed, but I squeezed his hand to calm him down.

"In a way, I'm glad we missed the winter dance this year," Leaf murmured.

"Same, besides, we go to enough black tie events as it is," Misty added.

We mumbled in agreement at Misty's statement, "We're all still meeting up at Drew's for New Year's right?" Dawn clarified.

We all nodded, "Well, I guess this is see ya later you guys," Dawn whispered.

"Aww, no need to get all teary eyed pinky, we'll see each other in no time," Gary said as he pulled Dawn into a side hug.

"You're right," Dawn said causing Leaf to groan.

"Please don't inflate his ego," she moaned.

We all laughed and then said our good byes. While the others left, Drew and I went upstairs to grab our things before meeting the common room.

"Are you sure you don't want to stay will us?" Drew asked again. "It's not a problem."

"I know," I said before I kissed him. "But Max and I agreed we should go to the Nurse Joy's for Christmas considering what happened a few months ago."

Drew hugged me, "You know my family is more than willing to let you stay."

I rolled my eyes, "I know, if anything, they want to keep me there forever."

Drew smirked before kissing me again as I called out Gardevoir and had her teleport Drew home before she did the same for me.
