chapter eleven
I woke up to a knock on the door. I'm glad they woke me up cause I was having a nightmare about that guys death.
"Come in." I croke out. I guess I was crying in my sleep, for my pillow is damp. Trey walks in and shut the door behind him.
"Yeah J, are you ok?" He ask sitting on my bed.
"Yeah?" It came out more like a question.
"Dad told us want happened. What, was you crying?" He ask.
"I guess I was as I was sleeping."
"Why was you crying?"
"I had a nightmare again."
"What, was it about?" He is asking to many questions!
"Nothing important."
"It had to have been important if you was crying Jaz." He doesn't need to know!
"You don't need to know." A shock expression pass his and my face. Did I just say that? No I did I told you I was the dominant one.
"I'm sorry for pushing you." He days getting up and leaving. I wanted to stop him, but I can't. It's like my mouth won't move. Like I can't control it. So I sit there and watch him leave and it's like my heart shatters. I caused my twin, my best friend, to leave.
I lay my face on my pillow and cry. I can't believe I said that. What a mean little girl you are. What do you mean, you was the one who said that not me! Yeah, but they think it was you. I'll tell them it was you! Ha, ha, fool. Tell them about me and you will be put in the crazy house. I'm mind it right. They would think I'm crazy. I sigh. There was another knock at the door. I freeze up. They're gonna punish you, hide! I do as told and quickly get in the closet.
"Jaz! It's me mom! Can I come in?" I don't answer, "I'm coming in." The door opens. "Jaz, where are you? ETHAN! JAZ ISNT IN HERE!" I look through the little crack on the door and see mom freaking out. I still don't come out. Dad and my brothers run in the room.
"Where is she?!" Dad ask no one in general. I stay in the closet dead silent. He wants to find you so he can beat you. I know, I don't need you to tell me that every second. Could have fooled me. I roll my eyes.
"Everyone, check everywhere! If you can't find her we are calling the police." Mom says. I think things are getting serious, so you think I should still say hidden. Yes, don't be stupid! They are just trying to get you to come out so they can beat you! Ok. Everyone left the room. After thrity mintues they came back in here.
"Did you all check everywhere?" Dad ask worried. The boys nod listing all the places they looked.
"What, we didn't check one place." My heart stop. No Trey, don't give me away.
"Where?" Ace ask.
"Here. We checked everywhere but here." A tear rolls down my face. NO! Ace looks under the bed and dad walks to the closet. Where I am at. I guess hide and seek is over. Shut it, this isn't the time for that. Dad opens the closet and looks at me. Happiness then angry fly through his face. Ohh, your gonna get it. I don't reply, just shrink back in fear.
"Jaz come out the closet now." Dad says sternly. I move back further and shake my head no. Tears run down my face and I begin to panic.
"Move Ethan, you're scarring her." He moves and mom comes and keel down in front of me. She goes to grab my hand, but I pull back shaking my head no repeatly. Mom looks hurt, but I don't care right now. I fell trap and scared. "Honey, please step outside the closet." I snake my head again. My body is shaking and I huge my legs.
"Mom, she's shaking." Ace says worriedly. Mom looks at me in realization.
"She's scared." Mom states.
"Pumpkin, way are you scared. We're not going to hurt you." Dad goes to get me to calm down, but I just shake my head again. I'm body was shaking so bad that it felt like I was in a earthquake. Tears pours down my face. Memories of the beatings replay on my mind. They all look worried.
"Jaz, I need you to clam down. We aren't going to hurt you. Your safe honey." I look her in the face, but I don't see mom, I see master with his evil smirk on his face. I move futher in fear. Her face softens even more.
"Why is she so scared?" Jace ask. Ace shrug, but everyone was still staring at me. Tears blur my eyes, but I was to scared to wipe them away. Trey steps in front of me.
"J." I look at him. My face soften, but I quickly change it back. "What's wrong? Please tell us. We can't help if you don't." I stare at him for a second, then look around. I need to get past them. There blocking my way out. Apologize to them retarded.
"I-I'm sorry." I cry out holding my knees closer to me.
"Why are you sorry honey?" Mom ask.
"Cause I, I, I was being r-rude and m-mean and hi-hiding. I-I'm s-sorry. I won't d-do it again." I cry out.
"No, no everything is alright. You was just scared. Just come out the closet please pumpkin." Dad says. I hesitate, then after a few seconds of consideration, I crawl out. Might as well get the betting over with if they are going to do it. They sigh it relief. I guess I was worried and scared for nothing. You was scared because you're a dumby. No, you are because you told me they was going to hurt me. No I didn't, it was in your head. You're in my head! Get out my head! Nope.
"Jaz, Jaz." I look at mom. "What is you think about?" I shrug my shoulders.
"Please talk to us." Ace say. I lay on my pillow and sigh. Don't you dare tell them about me. They'll put you in the nutcase house. You wasn't right the first time, so you may not be right this time. But-
"I don't know. It's this voice in my head that is telling me all this nonsense and I believe it."
"What does it say?" Mom ask.
"Mostly it just call me names, but it also tells me what to do and what not to do. Like, it told me to yell at Trey, but then told me that I'm going to get in trouble and hide. It also said that if I tell you about it then you'll put me in the nutcase house. It first I believed it, but then what it said about me getting punished was wrong. Is it wrong this time?" I ask.
"Yes, we wouldn't send you away, but we are going to take you to see a shrink." I look at him confused.
"What is that?"
"A person that helps you with your mental problems. It gives you someone to talk your about your feelings too and they give you advice on return." Dad explains. Oh.
"Ok. Is it still Saturday?"
"No, it's Sunday. Crap, we are late for practice." Jace says.
"I have practice today too." Trey says.
"We'll see you later, bye!" They yell as they rush out the house.
"Bye." Mom yells back.
"Can we watch a movie?" I ask them.
"Yeah, after you eat." Mom says and we go downstairs.
"Your plate is on the table. It's probably cold, so put it in the microwave."
"Ok." I put it in there for a minute, eat it, then we watch Despicable Me on Netflix.
Trey's POV:
Me and my brothers get in the car and head to school. They have basketball practice while I have soccer practice. We was quiet with the music playing until Jace broke it. He nevered really liked quiet.
"That was scary." He mummers. I look out the window.
"I know, I never want to see her like that again." Ace comments.
"I felt useless. I feel like I can't help her through this. She was so scared that it was scary to see. You seen how she flinched back when mom touched her hand. Even I felted the hurt mom had. I bet it's killing them seeing her like that. I know it's killing me." I add.
"I know how you feel Trey, it's hurting everyone. We just got to hope in the future she will be able to get past this." Jace nod in agreement.
"Yeah, but right know I think she is still scared of us. I think that little voice in her head keeps making her not trust us. We have to find a way to get her to trust us." Jace says.
"But how?" I ask.
"I don't know." Jace answer. Ace beings to add his two cents with a long speech.
"You want to know what I think, I think she isn't ready to go to school. She might have a panic attack or something worst. I just think mom and dad should wait another week or two. She have only been with us for a week anyway. Mom and dad already pushed her to two large group actives. They should slow down some. I know they are excited that she's back and want everything back to normal, but she's not the same little girl is was six years ago. She was brave, loud, happy and now she's scared, quiet, and sad. I just don't think she's ready."
"I know, I don't think she is also, especially now. I wish I could have my old sister back. I wonder what it would've been like if this didn't happen. I bet we would have had to live through lots of pranks." Jace says with a little chuckle at the end.
"Yeah, and boyfriends." Ace says grumpily.
"And don't forget she would've been a soccer player. She was better than me." I say smiling.
"How can I not. You use to get super pissed off after she won. Oh, and she was in those honor classes. Probably would have skipped a grade." Ace says smiley too.
"Oh I know. She use to do my reading homework for me. Well actually help me cause she wouldn't give me the answers. Always said "I'm not going to be there for the test so you might as will know how to do it". I got and A on every test because of her." I say.
We finally get to the school and split ways. I go to the field while they go in the school to the gym. I run over to the team.
"Trey, way are you late?" Coach ask. The team was running laps.
"I'm sorry a family issue poped up and it took awhile to solve." I answer.
"Is everything alright?"
"Yeah, now it is."
"Ok then, I want you to run twenty laps around the field, go." I nod and begin running.
After I finish, I join the team to do practice kicks into the goal. A guy named Steven was our goalie, and let's say, he was a damn good one. No one in the team was able to make it in.
"Trey, your next." Coach Harley shouts.
I get in position. I run down the field, around the cones, and kick it into the goal. I was able to trick him up making him think I was going to kick it one way, but kick it the other.
"And that's why you're the captain!" Coach says. The guys gives me a pat on the back.
We go through lots of other exercises and after two hours we can go home. We go to the locker rooms. The basketball players was in there. I go to my locker which was beside my brothers since they was giving in ABC order by last name.
"Trey, what's going through that brain of yours?" Tommy ask. If you don't know, he is the co-captain on my team.
"Nothing man, just my sister. She freaked out earlier today, that's why we was late."
"What happened?"
"Well I kind of don't know fully, but she got really scared and was hiding. It took us half a hour to find her, and when we did she and crying and shaking and was super scared. It took us a some more time to clam her down."
"Damn, that must've been crazy."
"Yeah. I'm gonna go hop in the shower."
"Alright."
I take a quick shower, get dress, then me and my brothers go home. Coach really did a number on us today. My muscles are super sore.
"Hey I think we should take Jaz somewhere so she can get out the house." Ace says.
"Where?" Jace ask.
"How about to the arcade." I say.
"Yeah, sounds good." Ace says and Jace nods.
We all have change since she's been back. Jace was playful and full of jokes, know his quiet and reserved. Ace was bossy and always wanted to do something fun, go on an adventure. Me, well I was and still reserved. Only joking with my friends and no one else. I guess when she came back it brought back that sadness we had.
We pull up home and go inside. Mom, dad, and Jaz were on the couch watching TV. Jaz was sitting between them.
"Hey mom and dad." I say.
"Hey son." Dad replies.
"Is it alright that we go to the arcade?" Ace ask.
"Go ahead. Be back by eight." Dad answer.
"Can Jaz come, if she wants to of course." Ace finish asking glancing at Jaz. This question cought all of their attention. Jaz glance at us and our parents curiously. Dad scratches the back of his head and looks at mom. I guess he want her to answer.
"Well... as long as you all keep a eye on her it's alright." Mom says. Dad nods agree with her.
"Jaz, would you like to go?" Dad ask her. She still looked confused and curious, but she nods her head.
"Go upstairs and change then." She nods again and run upstairs.
We sit down with mom and dad while we wait. They was watching UP. It was at the part were the old man and the kid was meeting the guy with all those dogs. Hopefully our time at the arcade goes smoothly.
Jaz's POV:
I run up stairs and to my room. I already took a shower earlier so I'm good on that. I put on my tight white long sleeve v-neck shirt, high waisted skinny ripped blue jeans, and my black knee high boots. My hair is wrapped up, for it is flat iron. I comb it down then run to the bathroom. I brush my teeth then go downstairs.
"I-I'm ready." I studder out. They look at me, then get up.
"We'll be back, see you later." Ace says. I wave and Jace shuts the front door.
I never left the house with anyone but mom. I wonder what is at an arcade. I faintly remember it. We get in the car and Ace drives off.
"Isn't the arcade the place full of games?" I ask no one in particular.
"Yeah." Trey answers.
A song plays in the background and it is a song I know from when I was younger. I begin to sing along. So you know, I don't know all the words.
"What would I do without your smart mouth,
draging me in and then kicking me out,
you got my head spinning,
umm, umm, ummmm,
I can't pen you down,
what's going on in that beautiful mind,
with your magical mystery rhymes,
and I'm so dizzy,
don't know what hit me,
but I'll be alright,
my heads underwater but I'm feeling fine,
your crazy and I'm out of my mind,
cause all of me loves all of you,
love your curves and all your edges,
all your perfect imperfections,
give your all to me,
I'll give my all to you,
when I lose I know I'm winning,
um um umm um um um umm umm,
cause you give your all to me,
and I give my all, to you, ohhh,"
When it when back to the course again, the boys song with me.
"Cause my heads under water but I'm breathing fine,
Your crazy and I'm out of my mind,
Cause all of me loves all of you,
Love your curves and all your edges,
All your perfect imperfections,
Give your all to me I'll give my all to you,
When I lose I know I'm winning,
Na na na na na na na na,
Cause you give your all to me,
And I give my all to you,
Give my all to you, ohh,
Cards on the table we all play so strong,
Risking your all though it's hurt,
Cause all of me loves all of you,
Love your curves and all your edges,
All your perfect imperfections,
Give your all to me I'll give my all to you,
When I lose I know I'm winning,
Na na na na na na na na na,
Cause you give your all to me,
And I give my all to you, ohh." The sound ends and another song came on. I don't know this one, but the boys sing it. I laugh silently to there horrored sing.
We pull up to the arcade and get out the car. We walk in and walk to a machine. Ace puts some money in and lots of tokens came out. Jace and Trey did the same.
"Jaz, what would you like to play first?" Trey ask me. I look around and something catches my eye.
"How about the one that you roll the ball into the holes." I remember that one from when I was younger. It was my favorite game.
"Ok." We all over there.
"Let's make a bet. Who ever wins the most games in these place owes or have to doing something for that other person." I say. I remember beating him at everything. He smirks.
"Your on! If I win, you have to... clean my room." I nod.
"If I win, you have to buy me ice cream ten times. I get to pick when I want it."
"Ok, let's start."
We play this game and I win. I look at him and smirk.
"One for me, zero for you."
"Well, you just got lucky. Let's play table hockey." I nod and he pull me to the table. He puts the coins in and the game beings.
He wins this round. I suck at this game. He smirks and I stuck my tongue out at him.
"Let's play dance, dance, revolution!" I drag him there at put in the coins for us. I think the was the most fun game for two reasons. One cause it's fun and cause I beat Trey in it. He kept getting confused.
"Ok, ok, two to one. Let's play basketball."
We go to the game and put in coins. We both get ten baskets in.
"TIE!" We yell at the same time.
"JINX!"
"NO!"
"JINX AGAIN!" Then we heard laughter.
"What so funny?" Me and Tey say at the same time. We look at eachother annoyed. The laugh harder.
"Twins, and I right." Jace say to Ace.
"You both are twins to. Actually, identical twins to be exact." They stop laughing.
"Jaz, let's play that racing game." Jace tells me and I nod. We go to the game and I beat him. I get first and he gets third.
"Shame, you got beat by com and me." He smirks.
"Cause I let you and com win." I shake my head.
"I guess you was acting being frustrated and yelling "this stupid game is cheating." I mock him. I rolls his eyes and smile.
"Yeah, and let's get the guys and get some food." I nod in agreement.
We fined Ace and Govonnie playing dance, dance revolution making a fool out of themselves. I chuckle quietly as they try to mess each other up. When the game finish, we walk over to them.
"Guys, we're going to the food court, are you both coming or want to keep doing this so I can have a video for Instagram and Snap?" They look at each other and at the same time say.
"Food court." We all race to the court.
"What my I get you boys and girl?" The girl around you're age ask. I order first.
"Umm, can I get a burger and fries. A sweet tea as the drink." I talk a little louder so she can here me. She nods, types it down, then one by one, the boys order. They pay and we wait five minutes, then get our food. We sit at a booth and pig out.
"What is high school like?" I ask them all. Ace answers first.
"Well, it is mostly boring in class, but it can be a little fun when you're with your friends." I nod.
"Oh, they like to have school dances and prep rallies." Jace adds.
"What's a prep rally?" I ask.
"It is when they get the whole school into the gym and get everyone excited for a upcoming game. They usually do it for football games."
"Why just for that sport?"
"Cause that is the sport everyone goes to see. Basketball is second in rank, then soccer, then the other sports."
"Oh."
"Tomorrow, stick with us ok and we will walk you to your class and to lunch. You only have one class this semester. Next semester, you will have four on A day and four on B day. You will learn more about that later." Ace countiues. I nod.
"There is also lots of after school activities you can do, but if I was you. I'll wait in tell your comfortable at school to do that." I nod again.
We finish eat and play a few more games. I win the bet me and Trey had, I guess he owes me ice cream, and we go home.
"Did you all have fun?" Dad ask as we walk in. I nod as they say yes.
"Did you all eat?" Mom ask. We repeated our actions.
"Ok, go get ready for bed, you all have school tomorrow. We nod and rush upstairs.
I take a shower then get in bed falling in to a unpeaceful sleep.
