We need to trust each other

(M/C P.O.V)

"How could I be connected to this Dust that you were speaking to?" I question.

"I have something that can answer that question. But we have to find Will and (Y/N) first,"  before I could react

"Now come on!" Lyra pulled my hand. "We have to find Will and (Y/N)," I really don't want to go with her but I know I can't find the way back home without her help.

She pulled me into the park where we found Will and (Y/N). Will was staring at (Y/N) with a gawked expression.

They heard us approaching and turned around. They were shocked to see me but (Y/N) was very delighted to see Lyra.

"Lyra!" she squealed. "Oh thank goodness you're okay," she rushed into her arms.

"Are you alright?" Lyra asked.

"Yes," she turned to me. "What's (M/C) doing here?"

Before Lyra can answer, Will speaks up. "We have to go now. The police got a lead on me," "This way," he lead us through the park until we made it to a bench in front of a pond. The moment we were there, Will turned around with a flash. He had a determined expression. "Lyra, how did you and (Y/N) find out about my dad? And what are you doing here?" he pointed at me. "Did you follow us here?"

"Lyra, what did you find out?" (Y/N) asked up again.

"The scholar was called Mary Malone and she has an engine that can see Dust. I actually communicated with it. It might not actually be sin at all,"

(Y/N) sparked with happiness. "Amazing,"

"If I could just get it to talk again and go to her tomorrow, I can find more answers," Lyra was ecstatic.

"No. Do not do that again," I spoke up.

"What's his problem?" Aster, who poked his head out of his bag, questioned.

"(M/C) is connected to dust," Lyra answered. "I felt him when I talked through the scholar's computer cave,"

"What?" (Y/N) breathed.

"Mind telling us what you're doing here?" Will demanded again at me.

His question made the girls glance at me carefully. I remained silent.

"If you're not goanna tell us, I'll ask this," Lyra fished into her bag.

"It's called an Alethiometer," she said. "It tells you the truth. I will ask it for the answer if you don't give it,"

"Okay. Okay!" I ranted. "I'll tell you three!"

We sat down at the bench. I sat at the end with three faces looking at me with questionable frowns.

"I came here to kill someone,"

Will's eyes enlarged. Lyra's face seem to burn up. (Y/N) looked a little scared.

"The man who came into my world killed my best friend Lila because he was looking for something. I couldn't find him during the Spectre attack. I realised he must have gone through that window that you found Will. I had to follow you three into this world so I wouldn't get lost,"

"Why didn't you tell us what you were planning?" (Y/N) spoke up angrily, her shock dwindled away.

"Because you three might have tried to stop me! That man killed my best friend,"

The answer brought shock to their eyes.

"This was my only chance to avenge her. And because of you and your Dust Lyra, I got a terrible migraine that gave the man enough time to escape,"

"Who was the man?" Lyra asked. "If you want us to trust you, you'll be truthful with us,"

"It was the man I saw you and (Y/N) talking to in the museum," I spoke up.

(Will Parry P.O.V)

"Is that device how you knew about my dad?" I asked Lyra suddenly. She turned to me and nodded.

"Yesterday I had to know whether (Y/N) and I could trust you so I asked it about you," she opened up the lid and made the needles point to different pictures in order to get answers. "It said you took some letters and you ran away. There was a thief at your house and..." she paused. I prepared myself. "You killed him,"

"I didn't mean to," I spoke up quickly. "That man was scaring my mum. He tried to steal her letters and he fell," I breathed deeply. "I can't stop thinking about it,"

I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned and saw it was (Y/N).

"We've all done things which we all regret. It doesn't make you evil," she said kindly.

"Can you ask it if my mum is okay?" I asked Lyra. "I need to know if she'll be alright,"

She framed her question again. "It says she's lonely and worried but the man you left her with is kind. She's safe Will,"

We heard deep breathing and saw (M/C) in one of his strange states.

"What's wrong with him?" (Y/N) asked.

"It must be dust communicating with him,"

"So he can sense dust giving you an answer when you ask the Alethiometer a question?"

"Yes. It doesn't seem to do him any good. (M/C)?" Lyra touched his shoulder.

He quivered and shivered and he was shaken free. "Please don't do that again,"

"Sorry," Lyra apologised.

"Does that thing tells you the truth?" I asked again.

She nodded. "Not good or bad. Just the truth,"

I looked at her again. "Did it really say my dad was alive?"

She nodded. "It says we need to find him,"

"Then it means going back to our world," (Y/N) said. "That's where he is. But it's too dangerous for us,"

"Wait...!" Lyra rung up again. The truth-telling device was whirring up again.

"Oh not again!" (M/C) cringed again, grabbing the sides of his head.

"What's your clock device doing?" Will asked.

"It says...we have to help (M/C) find his true home,"

(M/C P.O.V)

The migraine stopped abruptly when Lyra snapped the lid shut. My head returned back to its normal state. I breathed heavily.

"Are you okay?" Will asked.

I looked up at them again, their frowned faces replaced with concerned expressions.

"I was abandoned in Cittagatze as a baby. You think the people who left me here want me back?"

"We can't ignore what the Alethiometer said. You heard dust talking to you in your head, you know what we have to do. It's important,"

"And how am I supposed to believe what you're saying? How am I supposed to trust you three? I don't know who to trust at all," I lamented.

"I don't either," Lyra consoled. "People I thought were safe...turned out not to be. You can trust us (M/C). I promise you we won't betray you. I've done that before,"

I looked up at her, seeing a heartbroken but tearless expression.

"I betrayed someone. I hate myself for it,"

(Y/N) P.O.V

I reached over to consul her, gripping her hand.

"You can trust us as well Will," I spoke to him. "We promise you that we won't give you away either. We need to find your father. Somehow if we're going to do this, we need to trust each other,"

We each gave each other careful glances. (M/C)'s seemed to be the most vast. Will however looked rather worried.

"I'm going to have to leave her," he spoke sadly. "Just like my dad did. I don't want to guys...but I'll put her in danger if I stay," I heard his tone breaking. I reached over and took his hand. He looked at me.

"Your mother will be safe with that man," I tried to assure him. "And I promise you that we will do whatever it takes to find your father. I owe him a debt for saving my life. I bet you he's in our world constantly trying to find his way back to you,"

He turned to me, his face emotionless.

"I like it here," Lyra spoke up. She looked around at the peace and quiet.

"It feels just like the Botanic Gardens you showed me," I said to her, reliving the memory about the day we met.

"I love it here as well," Will spoke up again.

"This is nothing like back home," (M/C) said. "This new world is nothing like I've ever seen. You really certain I should go looking for people who might not want me?"

"I know how much it hurts to be abandoned," Lyra spoke again. "I've been abandoned too,"

"We have to leave guys," Will said. "The police will be scouting the gardens again soon,"

"Before we go, you have to promise us something first," Lyra addressed (M/C). He glanced at her carefully. "You will not go after that man we were talking to,"

(M/C) didn't like her request.

"I know that he caused you great pain. I know how much it hurts to lose someone you care about. Besides killing him would not bring her back,"

"We have to go," Will desperately urged. Already we could hear voices not too far away from us.

Quickly we followed him through bushes, under trees and through the gates. We then sprinted around the corners of houses until we finally found the little green area where the window was. Eventually we pushed ourselves through the fences and then disappeared through the window back to my home.

Another chapter done. Hope you all enjoyed it. What did you all think? Please send reviews and let me know what you all thought. I would love to hear your opinions. What did you all think of (M/C)'s connection to Dust and how he get sense it whenever it's in the process of giving Lyra an answer in the Alethiomter? And (Y/N)'s role too and her association with Will's father?

Please let me know. Get read for the next chapter.
