Epilogue
[[A/N: I've run out of creativity and inspiration SO I'm just gonna end it here]]
Moonreader swept into the large cave. It was lined with wooden carvings and scrolls.
Two large dragons sat in the middle, surrounded by five dragonets.
Four of them scampered around, roughhousing. The fifth sat by her mother, writing on a scroll.
A white dragonet looked up to see his auntie walk in and scrambled over. The three others followed.
"Hey there Nightfall!" Moonreader said happily.
"He Auntie Moon!" he yapped. His siblings chorused.
"Alright, let's see if my memory hasn't run short. Knowledge, Daunting, and Peacekeeper," Moonreader listed names, pointing at each corresponding dragonet, "Nightfall and Moon-blessed. Perfect!"
One of the two adult dragons had gotten up and was almost running to her twin. Moonreader could already hear the crowded thoughts gathering in her mind.
Her sister lunged towards her, spilling thoughts over into her head.
"Hey sis."
"Pfft. Long time, no see! I heard you brought gifts-you didn't need to."
Moonreader laughed, toying with the satchel around her neck.
"Of course I did! What kind of respectable aunt doesn't bring gifts?"
All the dragonets around her cooed.
"Gather around little ones!" she called, "That includes you, Moon-blessed!"
The little NightWing rose and strutted over. She joined the semicircle of dragonets.
"Alright, first!" Moonreader said, digging her claws in the bag. The dragonets leaned in, eager for the surprises.
"First is...Nightfall!" Moonreader exclaimed, holding up a rope of black onyx jewels. The white dragonet bounded forward and received his award with pride, looping the dark gems around his neck, setting off his white scales.
"Next, Peacekeeper!" She announced. The burly dragonet sauntered forward. She gasped at the little wire cage that held an exotically plumed bird. The bird screeched and Peacekeeper's siblings whooped and cheered.
Gingerly, the NightWing returned to her spot.
Moonreader gave out two more gifts, a scavenger carving and a glass statue. Her last gift she handed to Moon-blessed, a kit of professional calligraphy and five blank scrolls.
"I know how much you love to map things." she whispered. The half-blind dragonet shivered as a smile crossed her face.
A crashing sound issued from outside the cave. Moonreader clapped her talons.
"I forgot to tell you all! You have a brand new set of cousins!"
The dragonets cheered. Blindsight made an awkward noise of satisfaction and Greatwatcher gasped.
"Firetalons was farther behind me, gathering them up. I decided to fly ahead." Moonreader explained. Greatwatcher hissed with excitement and accidentally snorted a bit of flames.
"I can't believe I'm an aunt!" She exclaimed.
Four NightWings entered the cave behind Moonreader, one an actual adult. Three dragonets wobbled around behind him.
Firetalons came up and put a wing around Moonreader.
"I am proud to introduce, Valiance, Bravery, and Courage." She announced proudly.
The dragonets wobbled into a 'straight' formation and struck poses.
The five others rushed towards them and pestered them with questions. While this was happening, Moonreader and Greatwatcher conversed together.
"I can't believe that you of all dragons actually had dragonets! You never wanted them as a kid." Greatwatcher said. Moonreader shrugged.
"Well, it happened. I just want to provide them with the best life I can."
Greatwatcher twined tails with her twin.
"You know, that is one of the few things that I think we'll ever agree on." She said.
Moonreader nodded, watching her dragonets get to know their cousins. They would have the best life ever if she could help it.
