Alenia's eyes blinked open slowly, momentarily blinded by the bright sunlight streaming in through the windows.

"You're awake."

She turned her head to see Elrond, Lord of Rivendell, smiling gently down at her. She smiled back.

"How long have I been out?" she asked.

"Three days."

"Is Estel alright?"

The door opened, and the little boy ran in, before leaping onto the bed and tackling the young woman in a hug.

Alenia held in the hiss of pain, wrapping her arms around him. "I told you to stay in the damn tree." she said.

"I know. I'm sorry," Estel said contritely, his dark locks falling into his face as his face drooped. "Thank you for saving me, sister."

"That is my pleasure, little one," she murmured, placing a kiss on his forehead, lifting his face, causing him to smile that bright, little smile of his. "I would do it again in a heartbeat."

"You need your rest," Lord Elrond said.

Estel laid down next to the young woman, snuggling close to her. She mouthed, 'thank you,' to Elrond, who nodded, backing away.

He had scarcely been gone a minute, before returning, this time leading an old man dressed in gray robes.

"That was quick," her smile widened as she saw the familiar gray hat, careful not to shift too severely under the boy next to her.

"You have a visitor," Lord Elrond said, smiling as he stated the obvious.

The newcomer removed his hat, revealing his face.

"Mithrandir!" she cried.

"My dear Alenia, how are you?" Gandalf asked, his eyes twinkling merrily. "Trouble seems to have found you yet again."

The half-elf smiled sheepishly and lifted her shoulders in a shrug. "What brings you here?"

"I believe I require your assistance."
