Radagast busted out of the woods ahead of them, drawing away the orcs and their wargs.

"Come on!" Gandalf said, leading the company away from the shrinking forms of the brown wizard and his pursuers, across a rocky plain.

"Stay together." Gandalf warned, as Thorin cried, "Move!"

As the group ran, Alenia felt her stitches tearing. "Well, fuck."

Kili looked at her, and saw the blood seeping from her wound, as she pressed on it with her hand. "Alenia's stitches opened up!"

"It's fine, we need to keep moving." The half elf muttered.

Thorin stopped at a rock, as the wargs ran by. Ori shot past his leader, who dragged him back. "Ori, no. Come back!"

The wargs passed for now, and Gandalf urged the company on.

The dwarves continued running, and Thorin asked Gandalf, "Where are you leading us?"

Gandalf didn't answer, but Alenia started to recognize the area. She unslung her bow from her shoulder and nocked an arrow.

"We're near the Hidden Pass." She muttered to her wizard friend, who nodded in agreement.

One of the wargs stopped chasing Radagast, and sniffed the air. The company paused to hide behind a large rock.

The warg and it's rider slowly crept onto the rock where they were hiding. Thorin looked at Kili and Alenia and nodded. The pair stepped out of the coverage of the rock and simultaneously fired at the warg. The great wolf fell, yelping, before it was finished by Dwalin, while it's rider was killed by Fili.

The shrieks of the warg and it's rider were heard by the other wargs and orcs. So soon the company raced behind Gandalf, as the wargs tore after them.

"Move! Run!" Gandalf yelled.

Alenia's stomach throbbed as the wound stretched and more blood came out. "Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuckkkk." she sang.

The company left the cover of the rocks and moved to an open, grassy plain. "This way, quickly!" Gandalf cried, leading them to the last rock ahead of them, as the wargs begin to close in around them.

"There's more coming!" Dori cried.

"Kili! Alenia! Shoot them!" Thorin shouted, brandishing his sword. The pair took aim and released arrows, felling beasts.

Alenia nocked three arrows at once, and killed three wargs.

"You've got to teach me how to do that!" Kili yelled, as he fired another arrow.

"Maybe when we're not running for our lives." Alenia shouted back.

"So, never?" Fili yelled at the pair.

The three barked out a few laughs, before Fili yelled again, "We're surrounded."

"Where is Gandalf?" Bofur shouted, embedding his axe into a warg.

"He has abandoned us!" Dwalin cried.

"Hold your ground!" Thorin shouted, as the wargs came closer.

Gandalf's voice suddenly sounded, "This way, you fools!"

"Come on, move. Quickly, all of you! Go, go, go." Thorin shouted, as he killed another warg that came too close.

Kili shot an orc off his mount, while Alenia shot the warg.

"Alenia! Kili! Come on!" Thorin roared, racing for the hole.

As Alenia turned, she saw an orc archer pulling back his bow, aimed for Kili.

"Kili!" She shouted, as she shoved Kili down into the hole, and the arrow pierced her arm, sending her tumbling after him.

"I can't just catch a break." she huffed, pulling the arrow out of her arm. She threw it down, and saw everyone looking at her. "What?"

Horns suddenly blew on the plains above, and a dead warg toppled into the tunnel.

Thorin pulled an arrow out and threw it down in disgust. "Elves."

"You saved my life." Kili said, moving towards the half elf, as the other dwarves moved further into the pass.

"Yeah. So?" Alenia said, taking a step before collapsing from blood loss.

"And it may yet cost you yours." he muttered, picking her up, and carrying her after the rest of the company.

The company stopped, staring down at Rivendell in awe.

"The Valley of Imraldis. In the Common Tongue, it's known by a another name." Gandalf said, smiling slightly.

"Rivendell." Bilbo said softly.

"Here lies the last Homely House east of the sea." Gandalf explained.

"This was your plan all along, to seek refuge with our enemy." Thorin accused, turning on the wizard.

"You have no enemies here, Thorin Oakenshield. The only ill-will to be found in this valley is that which you bring yourself." Alenia huffed.

The company continued down into the valley. As they walked, Thorin and Gandalf continued to speak.

"You think the Elves will give our quest their blessing? They will try to stop us." Thorin said crossly.

"Of course they will. But we have questions that need to be answered. If we are to be successful, this will need to be handled with tact and respect and no small degree of charm. Which is why you will leave the talking to me and Alenia." Gandalf said.

They stopped in a small courtyard, when a dark-haired elf walked down a flight of stairs to greet them.

"Mithrandir." the elf said, smiling.

"Ah, Lindir." Gandalf greeted.

"Stay sharp," Thorin whispered to the dwarves.

"We heard you crossed into the valley." Lindir said.

"I must speak with Lord Elrond." Gandalf said.

"My Lord Elrond is not here."

"Not here? Where is he?"

Elvish horns blew, as the elvish horse riders from before galloped into the courtyard.

"Ready weapons! Hold ranks!" Thorin said, as the dwarves circled up, with Bilbo and Kili, holding Alenia in the center.

The elves surround the dwarves, before separating to let Lord Elrond through.

"Gandalf." Lord Elrond greeted.

"Lord Elrond! My friend. Where have you been?" Gandalf asked.

"We've been hunting a pack of Orcs that came up from the South. We slew a number near the Hidden Pass." Elrond dismounted his horse, and hugged the gray wizard.

"Strange for orcs to come so close to our borders. Something, or someone, has drawn them near."

Elrond held up an orc sword, before handing it to Lindir.

"Ah, that may have been us." Gandalf admitted, gesturing to the dwarves.

Thorin stepped forward.

"Welcome Thorin, son of Thrain." Elrond said, nodding.

"I do not believe we have met." Thorin said cooly.

"You have your grandfather's bearing. I knew Thror when he ruled under the Mountain."

"Indeed; he made no mention of you."

Lord Elrond ignored the insult, as he spotted Alenia in the dwarves.

"My dear Alenia." Lord Elrond said, beckoning Kili forward. "You just can not keep out of trouble."

The half elf laughed weakly. "Hiya Doc."

Lord Elrond smiled down at her, before taking her from Kili and carrying her to her room.

"Light the fires, bring forth the wine. We must feed our guests." the Elf Lord said, calling over his shoulder.

"What is he saying?" Gloin growled, as Elrond and Alenia disappeared from view. "Is he offering us insult?"

"No, Master Gloin." Gandalf said tiredly, rubbing his temples. "He is offering you food."

"Ah, well, in that case lead on." Gloin said, as the dwarves and their burglar followed Lindir, Kili and Fili casting glances after their friend.

(this is my homecoming week too, so i have my dance on saturday and the game on friday so i lose my free time those nights as well.) i'm going to write one chapter by the end of this week for use later. that's my goal.

alright, i'll stop rambling now. vote/comment if you enjoyed, or would like to.
