Chapter 13: " Attraction"
As the trial continued, Emily found herself growing more and more confident in her ability to defend Alexander. She was determined to prove his innocence, and she was willing to do whatever it took to make that happen.
But as she questioned witnesses and presented evidence, Emily couldn't help but notice the way Alexander was looking at her. His eyes seemed to be burning with intensity, and she could sense a spark of attraction between them.
At first, Emily tried to brush it off. She was his lawyer, after all, and she couldn't let her personal feelings get in the way of her professional obligations.
But as the days went by, Emily found herself growing more and more aware of Alexander's presence. She couldn't help but notice the way he smiled at her, the way he leaned in when she spoke, the way he seemed to be flirting with her openly.
One day, as they were leaving the courtroom, Alexander turned to Emily and smiled. "You're doing a great job, counselor," he said, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I'm lucky to have you on my side."
Emily felt a flutter in her chest as she met Alexander's gaze. "Thank you, Mr. Thompson," she said, trying to sound professional. "I'm just doing my job."
But Alexander just chuckled and leaned in closer. "I think you're doing a lot more than that, Emily," he said, his voice low and husky. "I think you're fighting for me, and I appreciate that."
Emily's heart skipped a beat as she felt Alexander's breath on her skin. She knew she should pull back, but she couldn't help herself. She was drawn to him, and she couldn't deny it.
"I'm just doing what's right, Mr. Thompson," she said, trying to sound firm. But her voice came out softer than she intended, and Alexander just smiled and leaned in closer.
"I think you're doing a lot more than that, Emily," he repeated, his eyes burning with intensity. "And I think we both know it."
Here is the continuation of the story:
As the trial continued, Emily found herself growing more and more comfortable around Alexander. She couldn't deny the attraction she felt towards him, and she could sense that he felt the same way.
One day, as they were leaving the courtroom, Alexander turned to Emily and smiled. "I'm having a bit of a rough day, counselor," he said. "Would you like to come over to my place and discuss the case? I think a change of scenery might do us some good."
Emily hesitated for a moment, unsure if it was a good idea to visit Alexander's home. But then she thought about how much she wanted to win the case, and how much she needed to understand Alexander's perspective.
"Okay, Mr. Thompson," she said finally. "I'll come over to your place and we can discuss the case."
Alexander smiled and nodded, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Great," he said. "I'll give you the address."
As Emily followed Alexander's directions to his house, she couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. She had never been to a client's home before, and she wasn't sure what to expect.
When she arrived at the house, Emily was struck by its beauty. It was a large, modern mansion with floor-to-ceiling windows and a stunning view of the city.
Alexander greeted her at the door and led her inside. "Make yourself at home, counselor," he said, gesturing to the living room.
Emily sat down on the couch and looked around, taking in the sleek, modern decor. Alexander sat down beside her and handed her a glass of wine.
"So, what did you want to discuss?" Emily asked, taking a sip of the wine.
Alexander leaned back against the couch and smiled. "I just wanted to get out of the courtroom for a bit," he said. "And I wanted to spend some time with you."
Emily felt a flutter in her chest as she met Alexander's gaze. She knew that she should be professional, but she couldn't help the way she felt.
As they sat there, sipping wine and talking, Emily found herself feeling more and more at ease. She was starting to see Alexander as a person, rather than just a client.
And as the night wore on, Emily realized that she was having the time of her life. She was laughing and joking with Alexander, and she felt like she had known him for years.
As the evening drew to a close, Alexander walked Emily to the door. "Thank you for coming over, counselor," he said, smiling. "I had a great time."
Emily smiled back, feeling a sense of reluctance. She didn't want the night to end.
"I had a great time too, Mr. Thompson," she said.
Alexander leaned in, his eyes locked on hers. "Please, call me Xander," he said.
Emily's heart skipped a beat as she met Xander's gaze. She knew that she was crossing a line, but she couldn't help herself.
"Okay, Xander," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
As Xander smiled and leaned in closer, Emily felt her heart pounding. She knew that she was wrong for loving Xander, but she couldn't help the way she felt.
