Chapter XVII (Dreaming Nights)
Midtown Manhattan, New York, November 25th 2023
It's the premiere of Dreaming Nights and I couldn't be more nervous about it.
On the other side I couldn't be more excited as well. It's the premiere of a movie I star in.
It shouldn't be surprising for me at this point since I've done many movies.
But this one its too close to home.
It's almost christmas time and this movie is quite fitting for the holiday.
Since Christmas brings hope and dreams to people. And that's the essence of this movie.
I don't want to brag about it just because it was Roderick who wrote it, but the movie is really awesome.
Of course Sam's directions and visions helped bringing those moments to life.
We're at Sunshine cinema. This is where the movie is going to premiere.
The movie theater is full and I'm so nervous to see people's reactions.
The movie is beggining. My character is the first to appear.
Dreaming Nights
Screen begins to take color and shows a guy who is on his laptop looking at old photos of him at theatre stages.
He seems quite melancholic. The doorbell rings he puts his laptop on his couch and opens the door.
It's a tall tanned boy, it's his friend Derrick.
He is a writer and has been writing a lot of best sellers.
Darren – Hi Derrick please come on in.
Derrick enters to the neat and perfumed living room.
Darren – Please have a seat.
Darren and Derrick sit on the couch and Darren closes his laptop.
Derrick – Darren?!
Darren – Yes?!
Derrick – You were looking again at those photographies?
Darren – Yes I was. I can't stop thinking that that would of been my fate.
Darren – That's my dream.
Derrick - Well then you should stop looking at those photographies as to remember your dream.
Derrick – And start to work on making your dream come true.
Darren – I can't. Something tells me it is my dream but not my path to go.
Derrick – I guess you're still shaken about what happened on your last play.
Darren – Yeah.
Darren – But I guess that is not why you came here.
Derrick (joking) – No, it wasn't. We're not here to talk about you.
Derrick – But to be honest, I came here because I want your help.
Darren – Wait what?!
Darren –Derrick Mayday, a best seller writer wants help from a washed up actor?!
Derrick – You're not a washed up actor. You're just out of the business.
Derrick – And why shouldn't I want your help?! You are great at giving advices to people.
Derrick – And you have so many knowledge about everything that it seems that you went through everything in this life.
Darren – Well I'm flattered. How can I help you?
Derrick – I have always written dramas and romances right?!
Darren – Right. You are just like Nicholas Sparks.
Derrick – Well, how can one write with truth about love when one haven't experienced it?!
Darren – It's possible. But wait.
Darren – Are you trying to tell me that you haven't dated nobody?!
Derrick – Yes I am saying that.
Darren – And how can I help you with that?
Darren – Don't tell me you're in love with me.
Derrick - Don't flatter yourself.
Derrick – I actually had a crush in my years of college. But I never declared my love.
Derrick – And now we don't talk and I tried to contact him but he doesn't want nothing with me.
Darren – Okay. That's really hard.
Darren – First of all, I'm sorry to hear that. I will think how can I help you with that.
Darren – It's a really though case. But not an impossible one.
Derrick – Thank you. You're the best.
Darren – You're welcome.
Derrick – Now I have to leave I have a meeting with my boss.
Derrick – She wants me to write about a biography of a Broadway actress.
Darren – Good luck with that. Not that you need it. You're really talented.
Derrick – See you soon.
Derrick leaves Darren's house.
Darren wanders through his living room.
Darren – How can I help him?!
He looks something sparked in his mind and runs to his laptop.
Darren – That's it. I'm going to search forums on how to help people with their dreams.
Darren searches from some forums and finds one.
They're about creating groups and communities to help people achieve their dreams.
Darren – That's what I'm talking about.
Darren – I'm going to create a group to help Derrick.
Darren – If I succeed I may upgrade this and it into a greater thing.
Darren pulls an all nighter just to know how to advise professionaly Derrick and other people.
He searches about other topics, not just love. He searches for careers, lost families.
And how to make people's dreams come true.
As it is night he decides to name the group, Dreaming Nights.
End of the sneak peak of Dreaming Nights
Everybody applauded and seemed to enjoy the movie, we left the movie theater the fastest we could.
Fans can be quite persistent. And we have to go to Sardi's to celebrate the premiere.
There's going to be a lot of press, paparazzi and fans.
We're going to eat but I don't think I'll have time for that.
At Sardi's
Brett – So, Jordan how do you felt about the premiere?
Jordan – Great actually. I was nervous at first but watching me in the silver screen and everybody's approval.
Jordan – It gave me hope, it made my dream come true.
Brett – But haven't you made your dream come true already?!
Jordan – My dream is not that simple.
Jordan – Is not something to be accomplished that fast. It's an everlasting dream.
Brett – I see.
Brett – Well I have to congratulate you for your perfomance.
Jordan – Thank you so much.
Brett – And Samuel you were great as a director I didn't do much in this movie as head director.
Sam - Thank you Brett.
Brett – And last but not least, congratulations Roderick for your script.
Roderick – Thank you Brett.
Publicist – You were amazing Jordan and today you look amazing.
Jordan – Thank you Elsie.
Publicist – That suit is perfect for you.
Publicist – I contacted Ellen and she wants to interview you.
Jordan – I'm glad but I have to think first about it.
Jordan – I'm still celebrating my movie premiere, I should take baby steps.
Jordan – I can't do everything at the same time.
Publicist - Well but you should.
Publicist – The more you don't do nothing, the less you're likely to be spoke about by the press or television.
Publicist – You should, well you must stay relevant and fresh.
Jordan – Alright. Let's not ruin this good dinner.
Roderick – I hope someday you will get a caricature in here.
Jordan – I hope so too.
Jordan – But for that to happen you must write a hell of a good musical for me to star in.
Roderick – Sure my love. I wouldn't want it other way.
Sam – I'm going to ask for Dom Perignon.
Jordan – Oh my favorite. You still remember!
Sam – How can I forget about it. I've never drank Dom Perignon if it wasn't for you.
Roderick (jealous) – I like it too.
Sam – I'll bring two bottles, that'll do it.
Jordan – Sure.
Sam leaves the table.
Roderick – Dom Perignong?! So this Marilyn thing started off with him?
Jordan – Again with this talk?
Jordan – Honey I love you so much but I can't bear with your delusions.
Jordan – I'm not trying to be the next Marilyn Monroe.
Jordan – I just like the way she handled her career, and I'm inspired by her.
Roderick – Oh so you want to drink a lot and sleep with nothing but perfume.
Jordan – We haven't been reading the same information.
Jordan – Marilyn was a woman ahead of her time.
Jordan – And she knew how she would handle her career and knew that only her could do that.
Jordan – So check the facts before getting in a discussion with me!
Publicist - Please stop it. That's bad reputation. Don't fight.
Publicist – There's plenty of critics in incognito.
Publicist – And you wouldn't want to have a bad headline tomorrow would you?!
Jordan – No, of course not.
Publicist - So behave.
Publicist – And Roderick I would like for you to stop talking about how Jordan is trying to live as Marilyn.
Publicist – That's annoying the hell out of me as well. You're being a dickhead.
Roderick – Screw you, I'm leaving this foolishness.
Jordan – Rody, Rody please stay.
Publicist – Let him go.
Midtown Manhattan, November 26th 2023
Jordan (reading a newspaper) – Mr. Wright's boyfriend Roderick Schultz left Sardi's after Dreaming Nights premiere.
Jordan (reading the newspaper) – Letting him alone with his former boyfriend Samuel Hastings while they drank two bottles of Dom Perignon.
Jordan – WHAT?!
Publicist – I warned you.
Publicist – It must of been that bitch Deena from the The New York Times.
Jordan – But it's not even totally true.
Jordan – I wasn't alone with Sam, you were there, Brett also was there.
Publicist – She loves scandals. She fabricates this type of articles so they can sell the newspaper.
Publicist – I warned you that the slightest fight or drama would lead to this.
Publicist – And I'm really sure it was her.
Jordan – It was.
Jordan (looking at the newspaper) – Deena Duvall, right?!
Publicist (in despair) – I knew it. I knew it. This is bad, oh really bad.
Publicist (in despair) – How can I overcome this?
Jordan – That's easy. The paparazzi always have been following me right?!
Publicist – Right.
Jordan – So we have proof that I wasn't alone with Sam last night.
Jordan – You know what?!
Publicist – What?!
Jordan – Is that interview with Ellen Degeneres still on?!
Publicist – Yes why?!
Jordan – Tell her I will go.
Publicist – But you said...
Jordan – What I said doesn't matter anymore.
Jordan – I will go to her show and talk about the movie and then I will clear this bad press.
Publicist – You smartass. That's really genious.
Jordan – Thank you. Please start marketing my image.
Publicist – Sure, let me just call Ellen.
