Chapter XXII (Tech Week)
Actors Temple Theatre, New York, March 17th 2016
It's 1 a.m. and we're all gathered at the Off Broadway theatre with the tech staff and with Miss Winters.
Linda – Okay pupils, everybody go dress themselves up.
Linda – Put on your character's costumes and makeup and then we'll perform the show from top to finish.
The tech staff is ready to line up the lightning, sound and sets.
The sets are the first to be lined up and the props are brought to the stage.
Everyone's running the every side of stage. Some even bumps into each other.
This is the busiest week on the making of a show.
We all go downstairs to our designed dressing rooms to put on our costumes and makeup.
The dressing rooms are mixed. So you would probably find some girls "dressing" with guys.
There's a lot of showmance behinde the scenes. Something the audience never knows.
And they shouldn't, because it's something that has to be kept to ourselves. As we are a family.
Keeping everything that happens in the backstage as they say with Las Vegas.
After getting ready we head upstairs that lead to the stage to start the musical from the top to finish.
We go through all the scenes, musical numbers and dialogues.
When we reach to the "Building The Barricade" musical number something happened.
As we all build the barricade, Kyle has to reach the top of it and wave a red flag while singing.
But as he is on the way of doing that, someone still "building the barricade" hits him with a chair.
Linda – Stop! Everyone stop.
Linda runs to Kyle.
Linda – Are you okay sweetie?
Kyle – Yes it only hit me on my back.
Kyle – I guess I can go with it. It was nothing.
Linda – No, we have to make sure you're okay.
Linda – There's an insurance in case of someone hurts themselves or are hurt by someone in this show.
Linda – So are you good to go?
Kyle – I am. It was nothing. It's just props.
Linda – Yeah, but props can be heavy so I want to be sure you're alright.
Kyle – I already told you that I'm good.
Kyle – God, let's go on. The show must go on.
Linda – I like you.
Linda – Never let anything stop you from keeping on doing your performance.
Linda – Nothing even if the set falls on you, as you said, the show must go on.
Linda (to the rest of the cast) – Let's start this musical number from the top.
We start the musical number from the top and this time nothing bad happens so we keep on going with show.
When we finish it's 3 a.m. And Linda tells us to do it once more because of Kyle's accident.
So we do it as she asks us, and we're stuck here tired but still giving it until 5 a.m.
Tech week should be called hell week. And I do guess some do call it that.
Tomorrow I have class and I won't have any rest as the night is going by so fast and we're still here.
So I'm going to sleep in class tomorrow.
Sam hasn't called. I'm beggining to become upset and doubting his love for me.

Another night at the Off Broadway theatre.
It seems like we are scheduled to always rehearse at night.
Tonight Mr. Gustav is joining Miss Winters to help us rehearse.
Gustav – Alright kidos. I heard that yesterday Kyle had an accident.
Kyle – It was nothing, I've said already.
Gustav – It wasn't just an accident. It was a great error from everyone.
Gustav – And that can't happen.
Gustav – We have to work in sync. If one of us fails it's everyone's fault.
Gustav – As it's if somebody succeeds it's everyone's success.
Gustav – So I want to see the show from the top.
Mr. Gustav sits in one chair on the audience chairs while some of us get onstage and others are backstage.
Gustav – Hit it.
We start doing the show, everybody is doing amazing. Everybody delivers a good performance as they do know their lines.
We help each other and the performances are good in my point of view.
Of course this doesn't just take one go. We have to redo it again and again. But we will not break a sweat.
We can't. This week is decisive of the turnout of the opening night.
We finally end every redo our musical director demands us. Everybody grabs their things to go home.
I call Sam. He has been so busy with his short film. I can't blame him.
But he can call me betweent breaks. Does he still love me?
Am I too attached to him?
I walk my way to the subway stop. It's really dark, nightime by this time should be a little lighter.
Without Jordan's knowledge, Roderick has come to the city.
He'sstaying at the Wyndam Hotel. What is he planning? What will he bring toJordan's life?
