Chapter XIII (Dean's Office)
Greenwich Village, New York, January 25th 2016
In the Dean's office
I knock on the door of the dean's office. I was told to meet her so we could talk about my behaviour.
Dean – Yes?
Jordan – Can I come in?
Dean – Sure you can.
Jordan – I would like to talk to you.
Dean – That will make two of us.
Jordan – So I...
Dean – Let me speak first.
Jordan – Okay.
Dean – I heard you were banned from professor Linda's musical theatre class.
Dean – Would you care to explain yourself?
Jordan – Well we had this assignment and it was performed two times, each round with seven students.
Jordan – The teacher said the first round of students, that included me, did okay.
Jordan – And then let the second round perform the same musical number.
Jordan – First of all she humiliated Kimberly whom was part of my round.
Jordan – Then she told the class that the second performance was great.
Jordan – And that Jonathan performed the same character as mine better than me.
Jordan – I coughed, yes I admit it was a sassy cough.
Jordan – Because I didn't agree with her.
Jordan – And when she asked me if I would like to explain why I asked her if we weren't allowed to cough in her class.
Jordan – She then attacked me by spilling my credits. Making fun of me in front of the whole clase.
Jordan – I was so furious I told her bad things and then she banned me.
Jordan – But I guess that can't happen or can it?
Dean - Well I've heard of you.
Dean – I know you're talented and so do you.
Dean – But you're so focused in being the best that you cross every teacher that defies your credits or perfomances.
Dean – You are talented but you have to listen and to take criticism.
Dean – Accept it, it will make you a better performer. Don't end your career before you've got one.
Dean – You still have a long path to walk through.
Dean – I would do the same as Miss Winters did if anyone crossed me.
Dean – But the NYU policy doesn't allow the banishing of a student from a class.
Dean – Still this will be reported on your files when you get your degree.
Jordan – I guess you're all right.
Jordan – I'm just getting used to have all this cheers and praise that now it's all getting into my head.
Jordan – I will try to not cross anyone ever again.
Dean – That's the wise choice to do.
Dean – You can return to musical theatre class but if you do something like this again.
Dean – I guess we have to change the policy of this University and you will be banned from that class.
Dean – Are we clear Mr. Wright?!
Jordan – Yes, we are and thank you for everything.
Jordan – I'm really sorry.
The dean smiles as I leave.
My heart isn't heavy anymore. But I still have something to do.
I have to apologize to Miss Winters.
In the singing studio, Miss Winters is doing voice warm ups as a man is playing the piano.
Jordan – Can I come in?
Linda – I'm working.
Jordan – I want to talk to you. I have something to say.
Linda – Go on.
Jordan – I realized everything you said is right. I still have a long path to go through.
Joradn – But I do agree I am the big deal. I just have to work more and more.
Linda – Stop! You still keep on being delusional.
Linda – But you said something right, you still have a long path to go through.
Linda - And that's why you're not the big deal. You're not even close.
Linda – Unfortunately I still have you in my class. I just hope you don't cross me again.
Jordan – I won't. I learned my lesson.
Jordan – I just think every teacher doesn't give me the praise I think deserve.
Jordan – They only seem to put me down.
Linda – We're not your parents.
Linda – We won't kiss your wounds and dry your tears because you didn't accomplish something you wanted.
Linda – We're here to teach you.
Linda – We don't put any student down.
Linda – Are we harsh with our students?
Linda – Hell yeah.
Linda – But if we weren't, most of you would still caught in your comfort zone and wouldn't want to improve.
Jordan – I see. Tough love.
Linda – You got the lead role in the christmas play, you moved everyone in the Winter Showcase, even though ended up in second place.
Linda – But hey don't get all sad again.
Linda – That only means you're getting better. You're improving.
Jordan – You're right.
Jordan – I guess I'm just mad at myself because I'm such a perfectionist.
Jordan – I want to be the best, the top at the ranking list.
Linda – The only person standing in your way, is yourself.
Jordan - Thank you Miss Winters.
Jordan – I'll be happy to return to your class I have even been seeing broadway shows so I can take notes.
Linda – You are methodic. That's good.
Linda – Would you mind to join me in these warmups?
Linda – Let's see how do you prepare your voice.
Jordan – I don't mind. I'm even grateful for you to do this for me.
Linda – It's my job, that what brings me the paychecks.
Linda – Okay, Andy play some scales to Jordan warm his voice.
Both of us warmed up our voices for one hour non-stop and then I went home.
I take the subway and arrive at the Dakota Building. I don't even know why I still live here but hey I won't move now.
I enter the building and in front of the elevator there's Oscar.
Jordan - What do you want Oscar?
Jordan – Are you planning to do another elevator prank?!
Jordan – It won't work out this time.
Oscar – Oh no sir, I want to tell you you have guests at home.
Oscar – One is at the door and the other is already inside of your apartment.
Jordan – How there's someone already in my apartment?!
Jordan – Did you open the door to my apartment?!
Oscar – No sir, he entered through the walls.
Jordan – Stop playing those evil games with me.
I hit the button of elevator so hard. Oscar is getting on my nerves.
Since I moved in he has been trying to scare me.
I know these stories about this building. But it can't be true, this can't be haunted.
I arrive at the second floor and Sam is waiting on my door.
Sam – Hello there!
Jordan – Hi buddy. How are you?
Sam – I'm good I just wanted to visit you and talk about the auditions I want to make them official.
Jordan – Okay we can talk, get in. I just have to check something.
Sam – Okay.
I go check every part of my apartment and so far there's no one or nothing.
I check my bedroom and there's nothing too.
I take a glance at the mirror to see if my face is on point and I see someone behind me. It's Elliott.
I look back and he is right behind me, I broke the mirror, look back and he is gone.
Sam runs to my bedroom to see if I'm okay.
Sam – What happened?
Jordan – It was him.
Sam – Who?
Jordan – Elliott.
Sam – What do you mean you screwed up again at NYU?
Jordan - No, he was behind me.
Jordan – At the entrance of the building Oscar told me there was someone at the door, it was you.
Jordan – And there was someone in my apartment.
Jordan – I asked him if he had open the door but he denied that.
Jordan – I always lock the door.
Jordan – So I checked the entire apartment and there was nothing.
Jordan – Until I took a glance at the mirror in my bedroom and he was behind me.
Sam – So you're saying Elliott your evil persona is actually a human being?
Jordan – No, he's like a shadow, well more of a spirit.
Jordan – He looks exactly like except he has red eyes and has this evil aura.
Jordan – The day before I scared you on Starbucks with that evil persona.
Jordan – Actually he was in my bedroom and told me he only would disappear from my life if I accepted him.
Jordan – So I asked how I would do that.
Jordan – I signed a contract with him and he cut my arm and put my blood in the contract.
Jordan – Then he entered in me through my mouth.
Jordan – I know that sounds impossible and completly nuts. But it happened.
Sam – I guess you should move out.
Jordan – Why?
Sam – I believe in everything you said. This place is haunted.
Sam – It's the den of satanic rituals, homicides, some prolific serial killers are known to have been living in here.
Sam – This is a dark place to live.
Sam – I have a room that's empty I guess we could turn it into a bedroom for you.
Sam – If you want to of course.
Jordan – Well I already had that in mind but since I don't have money to rent another apartment I stayed in here.
Jordan – I guess if you don't mind I'm moving out to your place.
Jordan – Thank you Sam, you're really a great friend.
Sam – Good. Pack your things and let's move out now.
I moved out to Sam's house. His apartment is very neat.
The entrance hall is decorated all in a minimal way. His house as he claimed was all decorated guided by the feng shui method.
His living room has a brown leather chesterfield sofa.
A low hanging chandelier that almost touches the base of the coffee table.
He has this mix of vintage and modern interior decoration.
The empty room has white colored walls and a black chandelier in the shape of those chinese lamps.
I have to buy a bed and a desk so I can create a workspace.
He was very kind to rent me his room.
Yes I wouldn't want to live in here without paying rent.
