Chapter XI (Good versus Evil)

Manhattan Upper West Side, January 15th 2016

Today I decided to not attend university and wander through the city so I could see how people act in their daily lives.

What are their routines. And find a certain kind of people and see how they talk, how they move.

I believe in study more than just what university teaches.

I like to learn things by myself too.

That's the appeal of dramatic arts.

Not being converted into the same as the other ones. To think outside the box and have freedom to express.

Mr. Collins told me I don't have any foundation but I'm finding it.

The foundation is not what just university gives you.

Life imitates art and art imitates life.

So my foundation will be mostly found in life.

My main foundation for acting is the method.

Acting is mostly about imitation but with time acting become something more serious.

So the method is a great way to give more depth to the character, therefore to theatre.

I'm heading home it's time to pray for my mother, even though I'm not religious.

She deserves some of my time.

I lighten a couple of candles that the previous owner had left in a drawer.

I pray for her to be in a good place and to know that I love her so much.

When I open my eyes the candles blow themselves out. But I do not have any window open so there's no wind to blow them.

There's goosebumps all over my skin, a shadow passes by quickly to my bedroom.

I follow it and there it is my dark side. My clone, only it exudes a dark aura.

Jordan – What do you want from me?

Elliott – I just want you to accept me.

Jordan (confused) – Accept you?!

Elliott – Yes, accept me. I'm your dark side.

Jordan – I won't. And you should leave me alone.

Elliott – The side you have been denying for so long.

Elliott – People have been telling you to accept your dark side and you haven't but it is coming out slowly.

Jordan – Stop playing games with me!

Elliott – Only if you accept me and let me take control of you.

Elliott – I can help you achieve what you desire.

Elliott – Great acting, fame.

Jordan – What if I don't want those things that way?

Jordan – I mean by your way.

Elliott – Then you'll never get them.

Elliott – You won't be the first one neither the top of the ranking list.

Elliott – Just accept me. And those things will change.

Jordan starts to finally gave in. He's being attracted by this evil entity who's promising everything he wants.

Jordan – What do I have to do then?

Elliott – Here, sign it here.

Jordan – This contract?!

Elliott – Yes. Sign it.

Jordan hesitates while he's holding the pen and looking at the contract. But eventually he signs it.

Elliott – Now one more thing.

Elliott cuts the arm of Jordan, grabs a bit of his blood and stamps it on the contract.

Jordan – What was that for?

Elliott – You just signed a contract with the dark side. And now I will disappear.

Jordan – Finally.

Elliott – Because you're becoming me.

The shadow of Elliott enters through Jordan's mouth.

Jordan eyes became dark and then he faints.

The phone rings.

Jordan (on the phone) – Who's talking?

Jordan (on the phone) – Oh hello Sam

Jordan (on the phone) – Yes, I can meet with you at Starbucks.

Jordan (on the phone) – I'll be there in a few.

On Starbucks Jordan/Elliott enters with some sexiness arrogant attitude and everyone is looking at him.

Sam – Wow hello.

Sam – You got everyone looking at you today.

Elliott – Yes, that's because I'm a star.

Elliott – When you're a star everyone notices you, take notes if you want to.

Sam – You're different. You didn't use to talk like that.

Sam – Did your mother's death made you that harsh.

Elliott – Could you stop being stupid?! Is that a question to ask?!

Sam – Sorry, didn't mean to offend you.

Sam – Here's your Latte Macchiato. Your favorite.

Elliott - Not anymore, do they sell any beverage with alcohol in here?

Elliott – I could use a bit of vodka or something like that.

Sam – You're really different, it's creeping me out.

Elliott – Then why you're still here with me boo.

Sam – Because I'm your friend and I know you're not like that.

Sam – Are you acting outside school to upgrade your skills?!

Elliott – No, you moron, I just accepted a different side of me.

Elliott – Let's see you can call it a... dark side.

Sam – You've been seeing Jessica and Kyle again, aren't you?

Elliott – No, I don't need them.

Elliott – I've outgrown them.

Elliott – Can we beat it?!

Elliott – I'm not feeling good in here. Let's go to NYU.

Sam – Okay then Jordan.

Elliott – It's Elliott from now on. Okay?!

Sam – Okay... Elliott.

Elliott – So when will you start the auditions for your short film?

Sam – It's too soon to do that yet, since I only will present the project in June.

Sam – There's still four months.

Elliott – I thought with all these three years you've been studying in here.

Elliottt – You would know that a short film is a project that you can't do in one month.

Elliott – You have to open the auditions, then do callbacks.

Elliott – Then put the actors in rehearsal and setting the props to create set.

Elliott – Have the right lights and good cameras and microphones.

Sam – How do you know all that?

Elliott – I like to broaden my mind and I also have an interest in filmography.

Sam – Okay,I'll contact Ryder and we will start the auditions.

Elliott – I'm down for that. Today I have musical acting class.

Sam – That sounds fun, today I don't have any class I guess I could attend yours.

Elliott – If they let you attend it I don't mind it.

Sam – Okay then.

My class is musical theatre. I couldn't be happier with it.

I love singing, dancing and acting. It's a triple bomb.

If you can do those three things, you're a great actor.

I go to the restroom and I change my clothes to an all black outfit.

Today we're rehearsing "Cell Block Tango" from the broadway musical Chicago.

And the teacher allow the students to choose their roles.

Which means we can do a gender bend version of it if we want to.

I'll be playing the role of Velma Kelly.

She's the darkest one in the musical number. What a great part for me.

I find it... so suitable.
