Chapter Sixteen (Part Two)
Miles
After we shopped in other shops, we decided we’d eat in the food court.
“I want Asian food.” She smiled.
“Then, we’ll go for it.”
We picked food and sat down.
“What made you so well built?” She asked, sipping noodles.
“I had special fitness for the upper body because I was a snipper.”
“AIN’T NO FUCKING WAY!” She threw her fork on the plate.
Bad timing to tell a girl that while she is eating. Acknowledged.
“No joking?” She looked at me, and I shook my head.
“MILES TELL ME ABOUT IT!” She yelled and forgot about the food. I narrated to her and she listened closely.
“Miles you should tattoo it on your forehead.”
“Tatto what?”
“Sniper’ and a gun in a thin font. You have to walk around narrating it!” She went back to eating.
“It’s not something I’m proud of.”
“Why?” she asked. I couldn’t say that I had memories of it because I’ll have to tell her everything.
“People get scared off.” I lied.
“And your ego humbled you because of that” she added.
“Exactly!” I lied again.
“I feel the urge to tell you something. I was so worried, but I find ease in talking around you.” She wiped her mouth and sat back.
“I’m listening.” She started telling me about a traveling thing she had with her friend group.
“the paper she drowned had Cuba written on it.” She said with closing one eye in anxiety
“I mean it’s a fatal coincidence, but I’m okay with it.”
“I’m relieved,” she placed a hand on her chest. “I thought you won’t believe my fairly-tale-ish tale of me and my friends.”
“No! I believe you.”
I hope stars could align the dates of our trips; I know it got its way. 'Since when did you get so poetic?' My conscious mocked. 'Cuba became so interesting suddenly? Why do you even want to go at the same time as she does?' it kept ranting.
We finished eating and walked to the elevator, which led to the parking.
I got in the car and placed my bags in the back seats.
“Progress!” I cheered as she got the heels off the moment she got in. She drove up the slide out of the parking, and I put my shades on.
“You know what I miss?”
“what?” I asked.
“To be chill while driving. Tell me how to look like a swag gangsta driving.”
“Let me tell you how to be swag.” It was a first for me not to get a panic attack when it was mentioned. I guess my past demon decided to let me have fun. Or, was it her guardians?
“Sit back, and if you drive with one hand, place one on the top or the side of the side and the other in the bottom, so you don’t appear stiff with both hands revealed. When you put the windows down, make sure to leave a bit of glass unless you are laying your elbow on the door frames.”
“I need to write this down.” She said and I laughed shaking my head.
"You are a Hopless case." I took off my sunglasses and placed it on the tip of her nose. She looked at me and raised her head to see the roads from the lenses.
She brought her loose hair on a side; it made a volume. She looked at me and did the rock horns with her hand.
“Swag!” I shouted while capturing a photo of her.
“I’ll make sure Scott is busy forever. Thank you for this day!” I said smiling as she pulled in front of my building.
“No, thank you. It was off-beat. I enjoyed it. Have a safe trip Miles.” She handed me my sunglasses.
“I enjoyed it more. Goodbye, Milia.” Should I add ‘I’ll miss you?’
I opened the door, got out then grabbed my bags from the backseat.
I stood in front of my building waiting for her to leave. She saluted me by honking, and she got out of the parking lot.
“That’s swag,” I shouted.
I was playing call of duty when my phone vibrated in my pocket. I slid it out of my pocket and then held back the controller. ‘Milia’ The screen read.
I let the controller on my lap and picked up.
“Are you okay?” I asked.
“No!” She cried.
“What’s wrong?” I asked and stood up.
“I have been searching for the sunglasses I bought today. I have looked in the car and everywhere I can't find any!” She was crying.
“Don’t worry. Calm down, in the worst case that we won’t find them, we will buy a bunch tomorrow. Stop crying please!” I walked to my room.
Hearing that I got a shoot in the game, I glanced at the chair, which I placed my bags on. I found a small laced pink bags. I opened them, and it was the glasses.
“Didn’t you find it yet?” I asked putting her on the loudspeaker.
“NO!” she screamed.
I put on white cat-eyed shades, made a duck face and peace sign in the direction of the shades. I opened the selfie camera and sent her a selfie.
“Check your messages,” I said, and I could hear her pressing on the screen.
“Oh No!” She laughed, and it gave me shivers.
“I forgot them in your bag.” She bought many fake sunglasses for her trip, and the bags were miniatures, so she placed them in my bags.
“Chill, Swag,” I tried to calm her down.
“Can a swag cry?”
“It’s forbidden!” I said, and she giggled.
“Let my drive them to you tomorrow?” I suggested.
“Or if you are free, we can grab ice cream?”
“Perfect.”
“Oh, I'm so inconsiderate. You are traveling, you gotta have a tough schedule. I don’t wanna ruin any plans, I’ll pass by to have them.”
“If you call letting me see you ruining for my day, then don’t just ruin it, I want you to screw my day.”
“Really?”
“I’ll meet Elena at three, then I have nothing to do.”
“Fine, I’ll meet you at Dixie Cream by seven or after?”
“Eight-thirty." I edited.
“Okay.”
“Night sweeties swag."
"Night." She giddled and hung up.
