Adrian POV:

I found myself in a strange dimension that was empty except for several floating shards. All I could feel was energy flowing through it. It was like the one I told Iris and Mizuki about. I see something so far in the distance I can't make it out. I stretched out my arm to try and reach it even though I knew it was too far to touch. Suddenly, my arm starts glowing and begins to hurt.

Adrian: What's going on?

Soon it begins to mutate and grow with several tendrils bursting out. My other arm begins to crack and violently break apart.

Adrian: AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Soon my vision is filled with Red and Violet before I wake up and pant from the experience. I look around again to see that my room is still there and I'm still in Edge.

Adrian: Two crazy dreams in one night. That's something.

Alarm Clock: Good morning, Adrian. It is now March, 16th, 2095.

I turn off the clock and get up from my bed.

Adrian: At least I didn't oversleep. That would have sucked big time.

I shower and get dressed for school before I go to Mizuki's room to see what he's doing. She's still sleeping because she ended up hitting her clock. I go to gently shake her awake and she ends up hitting my head. I hold it since she hit me hard.

Adrian: OOWWWW!

Mizuki begins to wake up and yawns before she opens her eyes to see me.

Mizuki: Oh, hey big brother. What time is it?

Adrian: 6:30. Get up and get ready to make the train on time.

Mizuki: Sure thing. Where did that bump on your head come from?

I point at her hand and she knows what I mean.

Mizuki: Sorry. Just put some ice on that.

Adrian: I know. Just try to hurry.

I grab an ice pack and put it on my bump. Waiting for Mizuki, I turn on the TV and see UAC Head, Samuel Hayden, giving a speech about the UAC's goal of taking mankind to the stars.

Samuel: The Union Aerospace Corporation has dedicated its purpose to allowing humans to travel beyond our solar system. Though we have been caught up in affairs on Earth, our many facilities from the moon to Mars have been working hard to allow us to take the first steps of interstellar travel.

Adrian: I wonder if I should apply for that internship.

Mizuki jumps onto my back and wraps her arms around my neck.

Mizuki: I say go for it!

Adrian: Glad to see you're ready, sis. Can we talk more on the train?

Mizuki: I don't see why not.

The two of us leave the house and get on the train heading for school. We arrive at the station near the school and walk the rest of the way like usual.

Adrian: I hope my report will be enough. I've been working on it like crazy.

Mizuki: No kidding. You've been reading Mom's first book from cover to cover. I'm a bit concerned for you. But I think you did fine on your assignment.

Adrian: Thanks Mizuki.

Mizuki: Don't mention it. By the way, did you sumbit your application for the UAC Internship? You talked about doing it and I wanted to know if you meant it.

Adrian: I did. Sent it three days ago. It'd be so cool to be able to work with Mom.

Mizuki: Man, you're so lucky you're old enough to apply. If I was just four years older, I'd apply with you.

Adrian: I wouldn't get my hopes that high up. There's still a bunch of other applicants. No guarantees that I'd be accepted.

Mizuki: Well don't be so negative. There's always a chance. Besides, Iris and I are rooting for it.

Adrian: Glad to hear it. Well, wish me luck on getting a good grade.

Mizuki: I don't need to wish you luck. Cause I'm there for you.

I smile as the train arrives and we get off. We go to the academy and to our classes. I sit at my desk as I await for Merlina to come. To be honest, it's kinda nice to see the students not drool over her. She finally arrives and stands in front of the board.

Merlina: Alright class, time to turn in your reports. I do hope you've been working hard on them.

I walk up and turn mine in first before everyone else does as well. Merlina then begins class and we all pay attention. She recites a poem, and it feels like she's pouring her heart into it. It almost moved me to tears. Soon we are required to take out turns reciting our favorite poems and those who didn't were allowed to look for one on their Focus until it was their turn. After a good hour, class was finished and everyone walks out. Merlina then walk toward me and sits at the desk on my side.

Adrian: Yes, Merlina?

Merlina: Adrian, your a very special boy. Anyone ever tell you that?

Adrian: Yeah. My mom and my sister, a lot.

Merlina: Would you believe me when I say that magic exists?

Adrian: Well, a family friend of mine is completely into all that. Mostly demons and occult, but to her belief, if they exist then so do gods.

Merlina: Oh, they do. I actually research them in my spare time. And also, I have reason to believe that there was a land called Britanna long ago.

Adrian: Really? Like in my mom's stories? How.

Merlina: I had a pen pal that specialized in deep sea exploration. And she said that the latest equipment she had access to detected signs that there used to be a large piece of land there. But it's not there anymore.

Adrian: Wow. Wait, why are you telling me this?

Merlina: Call it a hunch, but I see something you that you might not realize yet. Also I need to tell you that there are forces in this city that are rather power-hungry.

Adrian: You mean Monarch?

Merlina: I think that's a public front for a hidden order.

Adrian: Okay you're really sounding like my cousin.

Merlina: Well hey, even myths contain some form of truth in them. Well, I've kept you here long enough. You should probably go to your next class. See you in a few hours.

Merlina walks out of the classroom and I spend the rest of the day dealing with my next classes. After I then get a message from Mizuki that reads "Classes ended early for me. Heading home to hang out with Iris. Stay safe". I replied "You too. See ya" before getting out of my last class and heading home. I took the train and stopped at the station 2 miles away from home because I wanted to take a walk back. As I was walking, the street around me suddenly shifted and  I found myself in an alley. I heard growling and turned around to see several pairs of flowing red eyes in the shadows. I back away slowly as the eyes get closer and reveal themselves to be several inhuman creatures crawiling toward me.

Adrian: Wh-wh... What are you things?

I keep backing away and the things pick up the pace. I suddenly the strange empty place and the man standing on a platform.

Clifford: Adrian! You must fight! You have the power! Use it!

Suddenly, the creatures stop moving as if they froze in place. I hear something again and look in the window's reflection to see several dimond-shaped portals opening up and strange cables coming out of them. They end up piercing my back and a strange energy pours into me. It hurt like hell, but it seemed so familiar. Soon the pain was gone and a sword appeard in fornt of me. I grab it and time starts again. One of the creatures jump at me and I hold the sword up which splits the creature in half.

Adrian: Okay. (Groan) This is going to be fun.

The creatures charge at me and I swing the sword at one of them, which takes off their head and arm. I dodge one of the other creatures before instantly thrusting my sword through its skull. The rest prepare to attack and I impusively hold my hand out before several shots of energy fire and blast them.

Adrian: What the? How the hell can I do this?

???: Because you have a gift, Young Wake.

I turn around and see a man in a tuxedo walking toward me as he smokes a cigar.

???: What are the odds of you being capable of something at a young age.

Adrian: Who are you?

???: Of course, where are my manners. My name is Zobek. And I believe that you could use a lift to your home.

I didn't trust him, but I have no clue where I am and how far home is.

Adrian: Okay. I'll take that lift.

Zobek: Then follow me.

I follow Zobek to a limousine and get inside with him. The thing is quite fancy, Iris should be in here to see it as well. I know she doesn't usually get to ride in anything like this since she's still trying to get cooler gigs.

Zobek: You are thinking of that girl from Lemniscate.

Adrian: What girl?

Zobek: Iris Sagan. I know potential when I see it and like you have with that power of yours, she has immense amount in being an idol. She can be shine brighter than those I've seen so far. And you seem to have good taste in women.

Adrian: Could I just stop you right there.

Zobek: Of course. Forgive for going a bit to far. Here.

Zobek pulls out a card with his name and number on it.

Zobek: Should you ever desire training or more information on what you could be capable of, just give me a call. I have more free time than you think.

Adrian: Sure.

The limo arrives at my apartment building.

Zobek: The choice is yours Mr. Wake. Although that display of power was not only noticed by me. There are much more looking for such. I fear that troubling times might be ahead of you. But play your cards right and things won't be as terrible. Till next time. 

I get out of the limo and enter the apartment. What a day. Iris and Mizuki will never believe me. Should I still tell them? As I thought about what to say, I go to Iris' apartment and begin to knock the door. However, the door opens and I see Iris and Mizuki huggin me.

Iris: Adrian! Thank God you're okay!

Mizuki: What happened? You've been gone hours!

Adrian: You wouldn't believe me if I told you.

Iris: Well tell us either way.

I take a deep breath and sit down with the two. I tell them what happened, the creatures, my awakened powers, even Zobek.

Mizuki: You met Zobek? Like that Zobek? The one with the fancy hotel and malls?

Iris: And you actually have magic and saw non-human creatures?

Adrian: Yes to all of that. I know it sounds insane, but it's true.

Mizuki: I believe you. Really, I do.

Iris: So do I.

I hold out my hand and cause some energy to emit from it. Iris and Mizuki's eyes widen as it's the first time they've ever seen anything like it. 

Iris: That is awesome! So what god or entity have you made a pact with?

Adrian: None.

Mizuki: Did Zobek say anything else?

Adrian: That I should be careful from now on since he's not the only one who may have noticed this. Then he gave me this card to call him if I ever wanted to understand my powers.

I hold out the card and they both look at it.

Mizuki: Fancy card. But are you really going to consider accepting his offer?

Adrian: I don't know how to explain this to mom since I prefer not to have them draw blood constantly from me.

Iris: Yeah, I wouldn't like that either. Ooh, cooler idea, we form our own order to handle this kind of thing.

Mizuki: I like that Idea. Let's hold off on the names for a bit though.

Iris: Sure thing. Will you guys come hang out again tomorrow.

Adrian: it's the weekend so yeah. By the way, Alan and us are gonna try to rehearse for our band. Interested in seeing how awkward we make it.

Iris: You kidding? Wouldn't miss it for the world.

Mizuki: Okay, see ya Iris.

Mizuki and I go back home where he have dinner and then go to bed.

No POV

In an unknow place, a group of people are watching a bunch of monitors with one of them having a spike in energy detection.

???: There it is again. We haven't seen these kinds of readings for a decade. What's the plan?

??? 1: Keep capturing the non-humans. But also investigate in this disturbance. If this is what we've lost, then I want it back
