Wishing On A Falling Star
I summoned all the courage I had, and said,
"Darling, I must confess,
I was never one given to dreams,
And I've never believed in miracles
Or fairy godmothers who solved problems
With a wave of a wand.
Nay, I am the practical kind,
Quicker to act than to wait for divinity,
And certainly not the kind of girl
You'd expect to find at an altar
Praying for some celestial help.
But with you- and for you!-
I find myself hoping and praying,
Even wishing upon a falling star
And tossing money into wishing wells,
Just hoping you'd stay with me
Even though I know you're bound to leave.
But maybe, just maybe,
You'll hear this plea,
And know to yourself the truth- and stay."
