Resilience
Scrapbooks full of memories,
From our first day in kindergarten
When he had hugged my mum instead of his
Because they'd both worn the same outfit,
To our last day together, here in this moment,
Spent watching old movies
We knew every dialogue of by heart.
The tears in my eyes were of a friend
And his eyes were misty too.
This time, we shared the pain
Of parting with someone dear.
This kind of love is impossible to deny,
And in the face of this strength,
None of the other thoughts mattered.
My mind stayed silent,
No longer churning out silly fantasies,
Because right now, we were friends,
Dealing with a happy grief, a true bond,
That, despite everything in my head,
Stayed resilient.
