Chapter 4 - Search For Trust ~EDITED~

3rd Person's POV

"We are currently 1.4 miles away from Glave." Gowther stated, pointing ahead into the direction of the village where Madeline should reside.

"Alright then! If Gowther's memory is correct, she is here!" Meliodas announced excitedly, becoming giddy that soon they will have another family member with them.

"May I ask again Sir Meliodas?" Elizabeth asked Meliodas, looking over her shoulder at him. "Ask what?" He furrowed his brows.

"Lady Madeline isn't a fighter, right?" Before Meliodas could reply, the book reader of the group answered her question.

"Lady Madeline's parents were from two different species. Her father was a human doctor, while her mother was an immortal healer called a Senex. Miss Madeline specializes in defense and healing magic. Although we have taught her offense whenever we could, Merlin was her primary teacher in magic along with King. If any of us were ever severely injured, she would right away fret over us until we were all-" Gowther's was cut off by Ban, biffing the back of the pinkett's head.

"Would you just shut up already?! You're giving me a headache." Ban stated, laying on top of the steps to the Boar Hat. Diane sighed from her spot of walking beside Hawk's Mom, remembering the green haired girl who was always held their safety to the highest regard.

"May I ask what she was like?" Elizabeth asked them, wanting to know more despite having asked so many questions about her already. This was different! Usually when they found a Sin, excluding Ban since they knew where he was, it was thrusted upon them about their location at that moment.

"She was respectfully quiet, kept to herself unless she was feeling confident. She even thought of us as her family, creating each of us a role to play. I remember she would always write stuff down as it happened in her little book." King stated, floating about with his hands behind his head.

"Captain is actually the one who found her, when he brought her to us, Captain was badly hurt and before our eyes, she got to work in healing him. I still remember her annoying muttering on what would work best." Ban stated, lightly laughing to himself at the memory.

"We are approximately 45 yards feet away from the entrance to the village." Gowther stated, catching everyone off guard.

"Alright then, let's find a place to set up shop!" Meliodas yelled, smiling widely at the thought of seeing his little sister again.

Madeline's POV

"Alright, now you must drink this remedy every day for 5 days, and you will be up and walking again in no time!" I told the little girl who smiled widely at me. Having gotten back to work two days after arriving back home.

"Thank you Miss Maddy!" The little girl, Alyssa, thanked me before being picked up by her father who thanked me as well. I handed him the remedies before he left. I turned around, writing down her name in my diary. I do not use my diary for logs anymore about my life, but I use it to keep track of who comes in and for what and what remedies I have used on them from before, and for shipments I have to send out and keeping track of supplies. I kept track of my patients as an added precaution. So I don't overdose them.

It would be horrible for another mistake to happen like I did in my past, the people here are so nice and caring, amazing hard workers. They are full of life, I do not want to take that away from them when it could have easily been avoided.

I grabbed a new set of cloth, syringes, scalpels, and herbs for the next patient, which I believe is here for healing their shoulder blade from an arrow, so it must be a guardsmen to the village. There were so many guardsmen it was hard to keep track of their names. I always ended up having to playfully play off the fact that I didn't remember their name, or look for context clues for their names when they start telling me stuff about their life as I am working on then. I heard a knock on the door, distracting me from my thoughts.

"I will be right there with you!" I yelled through the door and heard it open while I flipped through the book, looking for the the page that had the names of all of the guardsmen, along with what I have used on them before.

"Just give me one second sir, I need to grab some extra Carengises, you have a splintered shoulder from an arrow right-?" I was about to walk over to my cabinet, which held all of the ingredients, only to stop when I saw who was in front of me, well the people who were in front of me. Tears sprung my eyes in recognition. Standing in front, dead center was my own brother, a grin on his face. I barely recognized who else was with him. I launched myself into his arms.

"All of you are alright!" I stated, sobs racking through my body, looking over his shoulder to see who was with him. King, Ban, a girl I didn't recognize, a pig next to her, and Gowther- Wait Gowther? Meliodas hugged me back tightly, not seeing that I was currently trying to figure out how the hell this was happening.

"Disappointing, even after all of these years you still don't have breasts..." I squeaked and pulled away, blushing at his pervertness. I slapped at his arm, puffing out my cheeks. "Meliodas!" My eyes looked to the others after rolling my eyes at my brother. I gasped, my eyes turning red when I saw a problem in Ban's body. The Irregularity of his defensive cells split apart so far that it was surely noticeable. If they don't stick together like they should, it would take so much longer for him to regenerate certain parts of his body that are vital. For example- His big head.

"Ban! You're hurt!" I stated, green eyes widened. I didn't know how else to say that his body wasnt up to par. Ban quirked a brow at me, most likely questioning why he tagged along.

"He is?" The girl with them asked me, her identity still unknown to me.

"Come over here, I better make a remedy for you right away before it gets worse!" I scurried towards the cabinet, looking for the correct ingredients.

"I didn't know you could get hurt, Ban." I heard Meliodas question Ban who replied with a small growl.

"Mads, I ain't hurt." Ban stated from behind me.

"Yes you are! Oh now where is it, I'm pretty sure I put the Yanspo over here yesterday...." I said out loud, looking for the Yanspo.

"This is her?" I heard the girl ask Meliodas.

"Yep! She is the same as ever, but she only really talk talks when it comes to medicine and safety." Meliodas stated when I finally found it.

"Yes! Okay now if I mix this with Raloes and Covus, it would produce a Remedy for Rebuilding but if I add a dosage of Friests Salts it would make the effect stronger... Okay! Ban sit down on that bed please!" I asked Ban. "Why should I? There ain't nothing wrong with me-" I blew air out of my nose, walking over and pushing him harshly onto the bed.

"Woah! At least ask me to dinner first, Mads." My cheeks grew hot, eyes narrowing into a glare as I turned back around to mix the ingredients together.

"I believe Miss Madeline did not appreciate that, Ban."

"Oh shut up, Gowther! I'm just teasing her!" I could feel my eyes rolling before I could stop them. I rubbed my hands together before waving them on top of the pot stove, watching the remedy be made with a green light emitting from my hands. I blew on it when I poured the remedy in a cup and walked over to Ban, handing him the cup.

"Here drink this while I work on you." I told him, ignoring the cock of his eyebrow up at me. Could he please stop doing that? I waited until he actually began drinking it before cracking my knuckles- Placing my left hand on his stomach and my right hand on his forehead, I closed my eyes, taking a deep breath before I started healing him, the green glow emitting from my hands.

"Oh wow!"

"That's Madeline for you!"

"She still has it." I heard King mumble to himself. A small smile graced my link lips, the air that should have been awkward from being without each other for so long wasn't present. It felt like the old days again.

"That's amazing! I have never seen anything like it!" I heard the girl state. After a few moments of silence, I took my hands off of him, opening my eyes and nodded.

"Your regeneration ability is back up to its full capacity, just please, next time, don't use so much of your strength." I told Ban, receiving a scoff from him, "Yeah sure, whatever..."

"Ahh, so that's what you were able to sense and see, your eyes are quite remarkable, I would like to study more about them in later dates." Gowther told me, popping his head over my shoulder to stare at Ban more closely. My eyebrows scrunched together, spinning on my heel to stare at Gowther directly. "What is up with us seeing each other?"

He hummed thoughtfully, tapping the side of his face before poking at my forehead, "Isn't that called the Threads of Fate?"

"I think? Ah, anyways. What are all of you doing here? Is Diane, Merlin, and Escanor with you too?" I questioned as I walk over to Meliodas and King. Ban stood up and shrugged at the corner of my eye, throwing whatever was left of the remedy over his shoulder. Which he received a glare for. He never did take anything I said to heart.

"Diane is back at the tavern I own, and we still haven't found Merlin or Escanor, but we were able to find where you were at from Gowther!" Meliodas told me. I closed my eyes, rubbing them in slight annoyance, 'Looks like if I say anything to Gowther, he will tell everyone with no pause.' I thought to myself, furthering the questions when i opened my eyes again, looking over to the right side of Meliodas, right at the girl I didn't know.

"Okay, but may I ask who she is?" I asked, gesturing towards the girl with long white hair.

"Oh! This is Princess Elizabeth, she is the reason why we are searching for everyone!" I nodded, ready to introduce myself but stalled for a moment at the name. Wasn't she the little Princess that followed after Meliodas whenever she could?

"It's very nice to meet you, I am Madeline." I told her with a bow of my head, deciding to not make a big scene over something tiny.

"You have got quite a shop here, but where is your diary?" King asked me walking around.

"It's over there, I use it now to keep logs on everyone I help and what I used on them so I don't overdose them on their next visit and what they are allergic to, stuff like that. Along with shipments and ingredients I currently have on hand." I explained to them. Ban walked over to my diary and picked it up.

"Careful as ever." Gowther muttered.

"I have to be, so why do you need my diary for may I ask?" I asked them, leaning against the counter with my head tilted to the side.

"Because we think that Merlin betrayed us, don't you think it was strange that Merlin is the one who told all of us that Zaratras wanted us to come to his quarters immediately?" Meliodas asked me, his tone sharpening and range going down an octave. I fumbled with my bottom lip in thought, 'Merlin?! That doesn't make sense, she would never do that...'.

"But wasn't she always the one who told us that he needed to see us?" I asked him, not understanding how they drew that conclusion.

"That's true, but to closer study, she gave us a exclusive time of when to go there, plus her magic based spells use spears, which were used to kill him." Gowther explained to me.

"I see..." I looked down at the ground, thinking about all of those times she helped me learn more about my healing powers and my eyes, the eyes that could see what's inside a person and how to control it. I was her apprentice up till the point of Zaratrus being murdered, when we were all separated.

"We better be getting back, and we want you to come with us." Meliodas informed me, glancing to the clock on my wall.

"Really? But, I need to stay here, to look after the villagers." I told them, reminding myself that the life of a Sin was behind me.

"How about, you leave, but leave them with instructions on what remedies to use and make for everything you have learned the past few years you have been here and pass it on to the villagers regular doctor." I thought about it then sighed, shaking my head in doubt.

"What happens if they mess up on one of the remedies? What happens if what they are trying to cure isn't in my diary?" I asked him.

"I'm sorry, but I can't leave here, not when they still need me..." I thought for a moment, staring directly in my brother's eyes, "...I don't plan on returning to the life I was living in.".
