Chapter 31

It had been almost a year since YN and Namjoon had chosen to be together, defying the judgments of society. Despite the raised eyebrows and whispers, they never let it affect their happiness. Namjoon’s friends, in particular, had been skeptical at first, wondering how someone like him, the carefree college playboy, could fall for a woman so much older. But their love had proven to be stronger than any external judgment. They had grown together, facing every obstacle with determination, and today was a testament to that today, they were getting married.

YN stood alone in front of the mirror in her wedding gown, her reflection looking back at her with a mix of emotions. The dress fit her perfectly, hugging her figure in just the right way, but the emotions running through her made it feel surreal. She had never thought she’d get to this point married, and especially not to someone as young and vibrant as Namjoon. Her hand trailed over the delicate lace of the dress, her mind racing with memories of their journey. The passionate nights, the intimate moments, and the emotional growth they’d shared all seemed to swirl together as she tried to steady her breath.

The room was quiet, save for the soft hum of the makeup artist working diligently on her, preparing her for the most important day of her life. But there was an emptiness to the room, one that reminded her of the loneliness she had felt for years before Namjoon had entered her life. Her parents were gone, and there was no close family to witness her transformation from a single, independent woman to a soon-to-be wife. For a moment, sadness gripped her heart.

Just as she was about to lose herself in the flood of emotions, a soft glow filled the room. YN blinked, startled, as a figure materialized before her. It was her grandmother, the only family member she had ever been close to, the one person who had always supported her dreams and loved her unconditionally.

“I’m happy that you’re not alone anymore, YN,” her grandmother said, her voice soothing and warm, like a long-lost lullaby. “Be happy and healthy, my dear. You deserve all the love in the world.”

Tears welled up in YN’s eyes as she tried to respond, but before she could say a word, her grandmother’s image began to fade. YN stood there, staring at the empty space where her grandmother had been, her heart both heavy and light at the same time. She wasn’t alone anymore. She had Namjoon. And today, they were finally going to be united as one.

Meanwhile, Namjoon was in his own room, getting ready with the help of his two best friends. They had stuck by him throughout the ups and downs of his relationship with YN, and though they had been skeptical at first, they had come to accept his choice.

“Man, we never thought the great fuck boy of our college would actually fall in love,” one of his friends teased, adjusting his own tie as he glanced at Namjoon.

Namjoon blushed, his cheeks reddening slightly as he grinned sheepishly. “Yeah, well, life has a funny way of surprising you,” he admitted, running a hand through his hair.

The other friend chimed in, laughing, “You’re right about that. Everything’s fair in love and war, huh?”

They shared a lighthearted laugh, but Namjoon’s mind was elsewhere. All he could think about was YN and how beautiful she was going to look in her wedding gown. He had been imagining this day for months, the day when she would walk down the aisle and become his wife. His heart pounded in his chest, a mixture of excitement and impatience building inside him. He could barely wait to see her.

“I can’t wait to see her,” Namjoon muttered under his breath, his hands fidgeting as he looked toward the door. “She’s going to look so beautiful today, and finally, she’ll be mine. No one will ever be able to take her from me.”

His friends smiled, sensing the sincerity in his voice. They had never seen him this serious about anyone, and it was clear that YN had changed him in ways none of them had expected. Namjoon had found real love, something he had never believed in before.

Across the street, YN stepped out of the building, her heart fluttering as she saw Namjoon waiting for her at the wedding venue. He looked incredibly handsome in his black suit, his gaze focused solely on her. She smiled softly, her chest tightening with emotion. It was hard to believe that this man, this young, vibrant man, was waiting for her to marry him. She took a deep breath and started walking toward him, her steps light and careful, her heart pounding in anticipation.

As she crossed the road, her heel caught on the hem of her dress, and she stumbled slightly. “Namjoon, just a second!” she called out with a soft laugh, bending down to free the fabric from her shoe.

Namjoon chuckled softly, his eyes never leaving her as she struggled with her dress. “Take your time, baby,” he called back, smiling. But that smile quickly faded as he noticed something in the distance a large truck speeding down the road, its driver not paying attention.

Time seemed to slow down as Namjoon’s heart leaped into his throat. His eyes widened in horror, and he screamed, “YN! Watch out!”

But it was too late.

YN straightened up, finally free of her dress, just in time to see the truck barreling toward her. Her eyes went wide, and she froze in place, unable to move as the sound of screeching tires and the blaring horn filled the air.

The truck slammed into her with a sickening thud, and everything went black.

Namjoon’s scream echoed through the street as he watched the love of his life get struck by the massive vehicle. His legs gave out beneath him, and the world around him faded into a blur as the reality of what had just happened hit him like a ton of bricks.
