Chapter 6❤

A voice stirred me from my slumber.

"Tammy."

"Tammy."

"Tammy."

"What?" I muttered through my sleep, changing the direction my head lay on my pillow.

"Wake up." the voice continued.

Couldn't I ever get a break in this house? I was always disturbed in one way or another.

"No," I groaned, my mouth barely opening to form the word.

"Why?"

"Me sleepy." I replied sluggishly.

Yes, that's right. I was too far in my sleep to even speak proper english.

"There's a pool in your back garden..." the voice deviously trailed off.

"And so." I snapped half-heartedly.

The voice finally stopped talking, and so I began to drift off once again, further into the land of buttercups and daisies, but then I felt my body being elevated. I wasn't complaining, I was still comfortable in my now raised position. I knew I was moving forwards, but still didn't wake up. I started going downwards and then I was on level ground again. I heard a door opening and then without any warning I dropped.

Into water.

Ice cold water.

That was quite a wake-up call as I immediately opened my eyes and began to flail around in the water. My swimming skills had seemingly departed from me in the shock of the temperature, but I finally found the edge of the pool and rested my arms on it. I started to pull myself up, before a pair of arms magically appeared and lifted me from the coldness.

Once on the floor, I began to cough, making the water escape from my lungs.

"Jake Aubrey-" I started, my voice croaky.

The sight above me halted my speech.

"Thomas." I growled, shooting him a venomous glare.

If looks could kill, he would surely be 6 feet under.

"Are you okay?" he asked cautiously, flinching at my glare.

"Am I okay? Am I okay? You just threw me into the freaking cold pool to wake me up, I almost died. D-I-E-D. You're a semi- murderer, you know that?" I snapped, shivering as the cool, morning air hit my arms.

I surely knew how preposterous I sounded, but I was beyond caring.

Waking me up was enough, but throwing me to my death?

I saw him flinch again at my words and he looked almost sorry.

Almost being the operative word there.

He reached out his hand and I presumed it was an offer to help me up.

Yes again, presumed being the operative word here.

I was too tardy in realising that he was just stretching, so when I grabbed his hand and attempted to use it to stand up, I just fell right back on my behind. It took him a few seconds for him to notice me rubbing my wet bottom in pain.

"Did I just..?"

"Yes, yes you did." I snapped.

He bit his lip as he stared down at me apologetically.

"Oops sorry, let's try that again." he said, putting his hand out again.

I stared at it for a few seconds as if it was some poisonous spider, and he wriggled his fingers to emphasize that he was still waiting for me to accept his offer.

I huffed at him, and grudgingly accepted his offer before walking back inside the house.

"What, no thank you?" I heard him shout from behind me.

I turned around, shivering violently and stalked back towards him.

"Here is my 'thank you', Blob Jr." I said with fake sweetness.

Before he could even properly register my words, I flung my arms around his neck, being sure to spread some of my wetness onto him.

I heard his sharp intake of breath as some of my coldness was passed onto him.

"What, no "you're welcome"?" I mocked him, rubbing my two wet hands around his face, feeling some remains of stubble.

I left him shivering outside, with his mouth agape.

I was such I rebel, I know.

Tommy had been trying to make it up to me all day. Once I had dried myself off and freshened myself up, I went down for breakfast. Tommy was standing at the foot of the stairs, tapping away at his phone. He raised his head once he heard me coming.

He made an attempt to talk to me, but instead I just pointedly bumped him out of the way with my shoulder and made my way to the kitchen. When we had started to dig into our eggs and bacon, I could tell he was trying to catch my eye but I refused to look anywhere in his direction. I just sat in silence and munched away at my food. When he eventually lowered his gaze onto his food, I thought he had ended his attempts to talk to me, but I was wrong.

If my parents noticed any of our behaviour, they said nothing about it, we normally acted this way to each other anyways. The only peculiar thing was my silence, but they most likely assumed it was just "teenager stuff".

In the middle of breakfast, Tommy announced that he had to quickly pop to the shops.

"Sorry Mr and Mrs Lovelle, but can I be excused, I need to just pop to the shops quickly. It's urgent."

"Oh, okay, Love. And how many times have I told you to call me Jackie, I'm honestly not that old." Mum chuckled, not sensing anything wrong with his abrupt speech.

"Same here. Daniel is just fine." Dad added.

I only discreetly rolled my eyes at the pair, if anything, they should've been appreciative of his respect for them.

"Oh, er. Thank you Jackie and Daniel." he replied, adding their names.

With one last lingering look at me, he exited the dining room and moments later, I heard the front door softly close.

"Here you are." a voice stated from above me.

I averted my eyes from my laptop screen, and jumped slightly in surprise at Tommy's presence before me.

In his hands sat a box of my all time favourite snack. The doughy, creamy balls of perfection. Cream cheese puffs. They were sold at this cute little bakery that was just a ten minute walk from my house. They surely were the key to my heart- but he didn't need to know that.

Call me a female dog but I really enjoyed seeing him fall at my knees, so I just took the box, packed up my laptop and left the living room to go to my bedroom without a backwards glance.

I sneezed for effect.

It was approximately 2 hours later that Tommy asked me if a wanted a trip to the mall. I was about to refuse when he continued and said: ' I will buy you anything, even lunch'.

My head shook until he said the last words, and my eyes immediately lit up. He gave me some time to get ready, and before I knew it, I was seated in his silver Mercedes, with him, on the way to the mall.

"Do you want to listen to music?" he asked as his hands advanced to the button that I presumed turned it on.

He looked at me, awaiting my confirmation.

I honestly didn't mind so I just shrugged my shoulders. I internally laughed when I heard the sigh of frustration that escaped from his lips. I was completely adamant on not speaking to him when he began to sing along to the song playing, Rather Be. He was amazing. My eyebrows had raised to my hairline as I watched him in total admiration.

"Close your mouth, you'll catch flies." he said winking at me.

I was faintly aware of my ajar mouth and closed it in embarrassment. It wasn't my intention to so blatantly be amazed at him.

"Hey! Don't get all cheeky with me, I'm still mad at you remember!" I replied, shaking my head to hopefully come back to my senses.

And of course he just had to have some smartbutt comeback. That was Tommy, always on the ball.

"I'm pretty sure you're not since you agreed to come with me." he smirked.

"Hmph. Whatever." I huffed, shifting around to look out of the window.

I knew when I couldn't win an argument, this was one of those that wasn't in my favour.

The tension in the car had died down and I was softly humming 'Glad You Came'. I didn't know what rubbish was playing on the radio, but it said the word 'booty' one too many times in it. That song finally ended and then the song 'Loyal' by Chris Brown was playing on the radio .We turned to look at each other simultaneously, before we both started belting out the lyrics.

I was doing my funky dance moves that made Tommy chuckle every few seconds or so.

"These girls ain't loyal!" we both finished as the car pulled over.

"Look, we're here!" his voice held a slight undertone of sadness as our fun had ended.

But really, it was just about to begin.

I giddily jumped out of the car and shut the door behind me. I waited for Tommy's okay, and then began to pull him into the shopping mall.

"So... where to first?" I laughed at the sadness in his voice.

"Let's just pop into Forever 21, then we can do something fun?" I raised my eyebrows waiting for his approval.

"Fun like what?" his expression perked up as he realised we weren't just shopping.

"You'll see..." I said mysteriously, wiggling my eyebrows.

I did it with Lucy and my other friend Jas most times when we came to the mall.

His face took on an expression of uncertainty, but I refused to let him dwell on the matter and then grabbed his arm, dragging him all the way through the mall to Forever 21.

"My gosh woman, how many pairs of jeans do you need?" I heard Tommy muffled voice behind the stack of clothes he was carrying.

I skipped in front of him as something caught my eye from the rack.

"Oh please, they're not all jeans, there are shorts and skirts in that pile as well, oh and also a pair of heels." I said, disappointed that they didn't have the top in my size.

Tommy was receiving odd stares from the people walking past him, not that he could see anyways. The pile of clothes he was holding reached past his head, and he was having a little bit of trouble balancing them. I regretted not grabbing a basket when we entered the store, but he reassured me it was okay and insisted he was okay to hold them. It had really backfired on him.

"Okay, that's enough now."

"Oh thank the lord of cream cheese puffs!" he exclaimed, tilting his head back.

I chuckled at his choice of words.

Realising what he had said, he continued;

"Oh fudgesticks, I'm turning into you aren't I?" he moaned.

"You betcha," I then winked at him, despite the fact that his eyes were blocked.

Taking that into account that he couldn't see, what happened next came as no surprise to me.

One of the heels in the pile fell from his arms and he tripped over it, mid-step. I was trying my hardest not to laugh.

There was an explosion of colour as the clothes escaped his arms and he descended to the ground. His hands immediately lifted to cover his eyes.

"It burns!" he cried, squirming on the floor.

"What burns?" I asked amused.

"The light,"

"Don't laugh!" he quickly added.

But despite his warning, an uncontrollable burst of laughter escaped my lips. I began to laugh so hard, that my stomach began to ache.

Through my laughter, I decided to be nice and stretched out my arm as an offer to help him up. At least my intentions to help him were clear. His large hand grabbed my petite one but instead of him lifting himself up, he pulled me down with him. But I was still laughing.

Then he started laughing.

So basically, anyone that could see us now would probably be looking at two teenagers, laying in a pile of clothes and a pair of heels, laughing their heads off like a pair of lunatics.

Suddenly, Tommy abruptly stopped laughing and I peered next to me to see what was wrong. His face was twisted into an expression of pain as he lifted up something from behind his back.

A shoe.

But to be more precise, one of my heels.

I didn't think it was possible for me to laugh harder, but I did.

"Stop laughing," Tommy grumbled bitterly.

"I'm sorry," I said between chuckles, chewing the insides of me cheek to try and stop.

A cleared throat was what eventually halted my guffaws.

"Ma'am, Sir, I'm sorry but I'm going to have to make you leave the store, you are causing too much commotion."

I looked up to see a young lady looking down at us with a stern expression upon her face.

"I'm sorry, but could we perhaps pay for our stuff first?" I asked hopefully.

"No." was her short reply. Her face was now expressionless as she glanced at me.

Well somebody woke up on the wrong side of bed this morning...

"Please, we won't be of any more trouble." Tommy tried, attempting to stand up. One he was successful, he helped me up and we were now fully facing the woman.

She was quite short and the most apparent thing about her was her blue hair. I don't know how I didn't notice it when I was lying down. It was bright.

Just one look at Tommy's face and her face took on a whole new expression.

"Okay, fine, take as long as you need." She was now speaking flirtatiously and even proceeded to bat her eyelashes.

That sure was one way to throw your dignity down the toilet

I quickly picked up the disregarded clothes and hurried to walk past her. Tommy followed closely behind me, obviously, not caring for the woman we had left in the previous aisle.

I tried not to feel guilty as he whipped out his credit card and began to pay for all of my items. Before he could type in his pin code, I stopped him.

"Wait, no I'll pay." I tried to insist. Rummaging around my purse for my own credit card.

"No it's okay." He replied, looking at my assuredly.

"Half?" I attempted once more, a hopeful look overcoming my face.

He looked at me with a straight face and continued to pay.

Men and their pride.

We were finally walking out of the store when Tommy asked the question that was probably at the tip of his tongue:

"Fun?"

"Fun." I confirmed.

* *

* *

"So this is your idea of fun?" he asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Yes."

"Wow."

"Shut-up." I snapped, dragging him inside of the store.

I had taken him to a fancy dress store. It was free for anyone to go into and mess around. I had entered there countless times and bought nothing.

I snatched two random outfits off of the first set of racks that caught my eye and after handing one to him, pranced to the changing rooms to throw it on.

During the process of actually putting it on, I must have gotten my head stuck countless times, but the finishing product wasn't too bad. The dress was sparkly and purple with a puffed out skirt which had tiny diamonds all over it. It also came with a blonde wig, a purple antenna hat, wings and fluffy shoes which completed the look and I walked out of the changing room.

Tommy was already out there waiting for me in his normal attire.

"Well don't you look shmexy," he smirked, giving me a quick once over.

"Excuse me! Where is your costume?" I asked annoyed, putting my hands on my hips.

"I didn't try it on. ..." he trailed off as if it wasn't a problem.

"Get back in there you buzz-kill!" I ordered, pushing him into the changing room.

"The things I do for women." He muttered under his breath.

But nevertheless, he grudgingly walking back towards his changing room to try on hia outfit.

------

As promised, Tommy took me to lunch. I recommended the pizza plaza on the other side of the mall and we began our trek there. It was relatively full and we found a small booth for us to sit in off to the side in the far corner.

"So is the pizza here good?" he asked curiously.

"Good? More like amazing!" I corrected, nodding vigorously.

He just rolled his eyes at me and asked me what I wanted before going up to order for the both of us. I was sitting down quietly humming a tune to myself and fiddling with my fingers when a certain somebody caught my eye.

Him.

The bane of my existence.

He smirked evilly at me before getting out of his seat and prancing towards my table. The blonde bimbo he was with glanced at the direction he was walking to and once she saw me, gave me a dirty scowl. I just scowled right back, just as dirtily, which seemed to catch her off guard as she turned her head back in the opposite direction.

"Why hello there,Tamara," he greeted 'innocently'.

He knew I hated it when people called me by my full name.

"Noah," I replied stiffly, turning my nose up at him.

He sat down across from me in Tommy's seat, making himself comfortable.

"That seat is taken." I pointed out, pulling my gaze to him.

"Oh is it now? By whom may I ask?" he spoke condescendingly, as if I was lying.

"No, you can't." I replied bluntly as I leaned back in my seat in annoyance.

"Huh?" he exclaimed obnoxiously.

"No, you cannot ask. So if you'd excuse yourself, that would be perfect." I explained, throwing him a fake smile.

He still wasn't getting it.

"No, I like it here, thank you." he shifted in the booth, as if in an attempt to make himself more comfortable.

"Wow, I really don't remember you being such a pen-"

The reappearance of Tommy cut me off before I could speak any further. If Tommy wound me up bad, you wouldn't believe the things that Noah could do to me.

"Hi, Tommy!" I beamed joyfully, hoping that Noah finally got the message,

"Hey... who is this...." he trailed off with uncertainty.

"This is-"

"Noah. Noah Crow." the idiot finished for me, throwing Tommy one of his winning smiles.

I glared at the side of his big head.

"Son of a cracker...." I trailed off bitterly beneath my breath.

"Excuse me! My dad is the most richest in Toronto." he replied, glaring at my face.

He never was the brightest fruit in the bowl...

Tommy cocked an eyebrow at him, before beating me to a reply.

"Yeah... I don't think anyone actually cares about that mate. Now if you'd excuse me, I was sitting there." Tommy interrupted, gesturing at the booth that Noah's butt currently occupied.

"Chill bro, I was just leaving." Noah chuckled, his huge behind still crushing the booth.

"Also, I would recommend you looking up some grammar rules. You need to word on that." Tommy continued with mock friendliness, throwing him a wink.

"Excuse me! That is no way to talk to the heir of-"

"Also, I'm not your 'bro'. Again, nobody cares. And yeah, you said you were leaving...get your ass off my seat then." he replied bluntly.

"I think we got off on the wrong foot here...." Noah's smile was becoming more awkward and forced by the second, and to make matters worse, he held out his hand for Tommy to shake.

Tommy's response was just him staring at it, and moving his eyes between Noah's hand and his wavering cocky expression.

Noah must have realised that his hand wasn't going to be shook anytime soon and jumped up, blushing and then scampered back to the hole he had climbed out of. Also known as the blondie whose beauty could probably be wiped off with a Kleenex tissue. That reminded me... I did have a pack in my bag...

Tommy's sitting down hindered my devious thoughts and he slid over my coke and pizza.

"Nice." I applauded, taking a sip of my drink.

He did a short bow, and pulled a devious smile before replying.

"Why, thank you. Bluntness if the key to idiots like that." he was pointing directly at the idiot that had just departed from us.

"Aren't you going to ask who that was?" I asked him expectantly, noticing his curious expression.

"Well since you asked...." he trailed off cheekily.

I rolled my eyes and answered his unvoiced question.

"Ex- boyfriend, I broke up with him if you were wondering."

He looked at me for a moment before supplying a reply.

"Nope, I cannot imagine you and him together. No way." he denied, shaking his head.

"Tell me about it." I snorted, as I dug into another bite of my meat lovers pizza.

His eyes were now shifting between me and Noah. I presumed he was still attempting to envision any kind of relationship between us that held a mutual liking. I don't think our impenetrable hate was very apparent in that short encounter, I honestly had no idea how he turned into such a bitter person within just days of our breakup. He used to be a nice guy, that was how I had fell for him a year ago. Our relationship had lasted for a year, before a side of him began to emerge that I had never witnessed previously. Everyone had seen it coming, but me; the naive, love sick girl.

I shuddered at the thought of ever loving such a person again.

Tommy had finally quit trying and we continued to dig into our pizza, both Meat Lovers, in a comfortable silence. Every few moments or so, I would catch Tommy's eyes still darting between me and the direction Noah was in, but I said nothing of the matter. Tommy surprisingly finished eating before I did.

"Finished?" I heard him ask from in front of me.

I looked up to see Tommy's blue eyes watching me expectantly. After producing my answer with a nod, he stood up, outstretching his hand as an offer for me to take it. I hesitantly took it, but then thought of the satisfaction I would feel when I caught Noah's expression when he observed it.

His eyes bulged out of his head as we walked past his table. It must have been the consequence of my satisfied smirk that he roughly pulled the giggling bimbo towards him and began to kiss her.

There was an unsettling feeling in my stomach as I averted my eyes from the pair. That unsettling feeling was most definitely not jealously. It was disgust. They took PDA to a whole new level. Noah broke away from the kiss to throw me a wink and I just rolled my eyes in response, trying to hold back the incoming bile that was rising up my throat.

It really was the most fun I had had throughout the whole of the holidays, besides its disturbing ending. All of my friends were abroad, which had left me alone for the majority of the holidays. And as Tommy drove us home I thought that maybe, just maybe we could be friends.
