Chapter 4
Jeffy's POV
I went home and sat on the couch next to mommy and daddy. Mommy has a teal strand in her hair.
"Hey, daddy." I said. Daddy and mommy looked glum.
"Hey, Jeffy. How was school?", daddy asked.
"Oh, it was great, daddy. But why the bald head?" I asked. Mommy shook her head.
"Jeffy, the expression is 'why the long face?', honey." She said. "I know, but I wanna know why his head is so bald." I said, smiling.
"Because I'm old, Jeffy" he explained. "Do the carpets match the drapes?" I asked. You all know what I was referring to.
"WHAT?!" He snapped. "Yes." Me and daddy turned towards mommy. "I mean, Jeffy! That is very inappropriate."
"Ooookay? But why are y'all sad?" I asked. Daddy sighed. "Should we tell him, Rose?" He asked. That was confusing because he always calls her 'baby.' "Sure, Marvin. He deserves to know."
Now, I was getting impatient. "Know what, bitch?"
"Jeffy, language!" Daddy scolded before sighing. "Do you see the color on mommy's hair?" he asked. I nodded. He turned around. I was shocked. On the back of his bald head, there was a red strand.
"Jeffy, me and daddy aren't soulmates." She said. I shook my head. I ran out, my parents calling me. I couldn't handle it. My parents had been together since my mom dropped me off at their doorstep. And now, I find out they aren't soulmates. I sit down, sniffling. Then, someone sits next to me.
"Hey, Jeffy."
I looked up and saw Penelope. "Oh, hey, Pen. What're you doing out?"
She sighed. "My parents aren't soulmates."
"Et tu?" I said in surprise. She nodded. "My dad has a white strand. My mom was so mad and they got into an argument."
"Wow. What color is your mom's?" I asked. "I couldn't see well because they were really going at it and I wanted to get out as soon as possible. But I think she had a teal strand." My jaw hit the ground. "Everything okay?" She asked.
"Pen, I think our moms are soulmates." I said. She looked shocked. "WHAT?!?!"
"My mom had a teal strand too." I explained. "Wow." She said. We sat in silence for a bit before I turned towards her. "So, uh, did you ever talk to Samantha?" I asked. She nodded. "She said she'd talk to Bully." She blushed. I smirked, knowing what was coming next. "And?"
"And then she kissed me." She squeaked. I smiled. "Well, I'm happy for you, Penny." I said, smiling. "Thanks, bud." Then, her phone dinged. "I gotta go, Jeff." She said. "Good luck with your 'rents."
"You too." I said as she ran off. I decided to go home. Then, I see someone pull up to our house. He has a red strand like my daddy. Right when I thought it couldn't get any worse, he speaks and in an instant, I know who it is.
"I can't wait to get Marvin's house payment."
Oh, shit.
