Chapter One: Bryn's Backing
Day 2 9:00 am
Bryn's POV
I run through the forest and hear my sister scream, and then screams. 'Kayley?! What the hell have they done to you?' I wonder, looking around nervously. Then I see the birds and it makes me wish I had a ranged weapon. I hold my dirk in one hand and my sword in the other. 'Stupid birds.' I ignore their cries and run away. 'It's not real, Bryn!' I remind myself. 'Don't fall for it.' I urge. I'm so focused on the jabberjays that I don't see her until we collide. My sword slides out of my hand, but I keep ahold of my dirk. I stand, but the girl doesn't get up quickly. She looks so young, so frail. I realize I'm not going to kill her. I can't... I extend my hand and help her up.
"Just this time, Eleven. Don't count on this again." I picked up my weapons and continued on my way.
