I sat in the car. He sat beside me, and ignited the engine.
"Wait. You know how to drive?" I asked.
"I learnt to drive as a result of boredom. Recreational stuff, you know."
I laughed.
"Wow. You are laughing in times so hard and dangerous." He said.
I smiled. "I have to die one day or another. Though honestly, I would prefer to live a little longer. I love my life."
"You are not dying now. Don't talk as if you're dying today." He whispered to me.
"That's what Jack had said to Rose in Titanic." I replied.
"And then he had died." He said.
"Yes, he died. I cried when he died."
"I really like his acting. DiCaprio just captivates souls."
"Yeah totally. Everything looked so real in that movie. Didn't you cry?" I asked him.
"Souls don't cry." He said, keeping his eyes on the road. I turned to look at him. He was bust driving, so he didn't look back at me. Sometimes, he behaved so human it was difficult to believe that he was not one.
"So, James had proposed to you?" Liam asked.
"You heard?" I said in an annoyed tone.
"Sometimes overhearing is good." He laughed. "I liked the way you refused him though."
"Yeah. Shattered his ego to pieces."
"And spread them across the floor. That was fun hearing, you know? I was expecting you to accept him though. I mean, he is a smart, young lad."
I turned to look at him again. He didn't turn his head, but he was noticing me from the corner of his eye.
"What?" He asked, removing his hand from the steering wheel to make a "what" gesture.
"Are you kidding me?" I asked.
"You mean, am I taunting you? No way." He laughed while saying.
"Shut up. I understand what you're trying to do."
"What? What am I trying to do according to you?" He asked.
"You are just trying to distract me from the real issue of concern."
This quietened him. He silently focused on driving. Occasionally I fell towards his shoulder, and then towards the other side, that was on the window.
Finally the car stopped. He turned to look at me, and then opened his mouth and then closed it back again. Maybe he thought it was better not to say anything.
He got off first from the car, and then opened the gate for me. Like a true gentleman. He was just the kind of guy I liked. But not the kind of guy I would get.
"Are you scared?" He asked, as we were off the car.
"No. Maybe. Actually, yes. A bit. A bit."
"I'm scared too." He admitted. "I'm scared too that my sister was never good after all. Maybe I've helped her grow stronger all these years. Maybe I've-"
He looked down and his eyes fluttered. His eyes fluttered when he lied and when he was scared. This time though, it was the latter case.
I held his hands in mine. He looked at me.
"Thank you so much for all you've done." He said.
"I have done nothing." I replied.
His lips curved to form a beautiful smile on his beautiful face.
We opened and then walked through the iron gates that marked the entry of the villa. The wooden gate which marked the entry to the rooms was open.
The weather was cold, it has rained sometime today, and though the rain has stopped, the misty earthly smell of the mud, my favourite, and the cold breeze chilled the atmosphere. The green forests looked dull and scary.
We walked across the lawn spanning in front of the villa, taking small steps. Our hands were bound together, our fingers were entangled with each other, and I felt some comfort in him. He supported me, and I supported him. It was imperfectly perfect.
He looked at me nervously. I didn't have a mirror to look at my face, but if I had one, it would have shown me the same nervous expression that was there on Liam's face.
"So, are you ready to go inside?" He asked. I realised that we had reached the end of the lawn, and were close to the wooden gates now.
Basically, the sweet and beautiful stroll had come to an end.
"No." I said.
He laughed, and I closed around him as we stepped in.
