If you're one of the lucky ones then you have that someone in your life. That one person that you can tell everything to and in return, they can tell you everything. You can both share your innermost thoughts and never fear that the other will judge you or laugh. No matter what, you'll always be there for one another through everything. Whatever may come you will stand beside one another. 

This isn't something either of you needs to discuss or explain, it's simply something you both understand.

But what would happen if you lost this person? If they were suddenly ripped away. Gone from your life. If you never saw them again, how would it affect you?

I can tell you that the pain of that loss is absolute. It's like losing a piece of yourself. A tiny little bit of your soul is torn out, ripped violently away.

Somehow you know that you'll never recover from that loss. The injury that is left deep inside of you will never be repaired. You will never again feel that way about another person. That person was sort of like your soulmate.

Not the I-love-you-forever-and-ever-and-want-to-marry-you sort of soulmate. They are the you-are-my-best-kind-of-friend-and-I'll-be-there-for-you-no-matter-what kind of soulmate.

If you lose that person how can you ever make that sort of connection ever again? How can you possibly fix the shredded bits of your soul? A piece of you is forever missing because of that loss. You're empty and bereft.

Can something likethat tiny little piece of your soul ever be repaired or found again? It ispossible, but not easy.
