[4] Jealousy Will Not Prevail
Ryuuki's View
As I has finished serving the guests, I placed my silver platter down and looked around the room. Maybe I could talk to Haruhi for a bit and get to know him a bit better. Though, as I scanned the room, I noticed Haruhi wasn't anywhere to be seen. I raised an eyebrow, curious to where he went.
I went over to Kyoya and tugged at his shirt. He looked down at me, "Yes?" He asked.
"Where did Haruhi-kun go?" I asked him.
He pointed towards the door, "Out the door. Though, if I were you, I'd look out the window." He stated.
I narrowed my eyes and nodded. "Thanks." I said. I ran to the window, peering out to see if I could see Haruhi. I spotted him right away Haruhi was in a fountain looking for something in the water. 'I wonder if dropped something in there...' I pondered.
I froze when I noticed Tamaki walking over to the fountain. He walked into the water along with Haruhi, bent down and grabbed something, showing it to him. Haruhi grabbed it right away. 'Well, looks like he found what he was initially looking for.'
I shrugged my shoulders. I shouldn't be worrying about him. I think Haruhi can handle himself. He has Tamaki with him anyways. Tamaki looks like a strong guy.
"Ryuuki! Ryuuki!"
I turned around and looked down at Honey-senpai. I bent down a bit. "Hi, Honey-senpai. Did you need something?" I asked, a small smile on my face.
He nodded and hugged Usa-chan, his pink bunny, close to his chest. "Can I call you Ruru?" He asked me cutely, giving me these really big eyes that I just couldn't resist
I rubbed the back of my neck, blushing at how cute he looked. I was internally beating myself up for finding an older classmen really cute. It was just weird.
"Pleaaaaase!" He begged, tugging at my shirt. I bit my lip and looked off to the side.
"Fine, but you can only call me that, okay? No one else. This is a nickname between the two of us." I said, talking to him as if he were a literal child.
Honey-senpai grinned and threw his arms around me. "Yaaaay! Thanks, Ruru!" He said in glee. I wrapped my arms around him and smiled. He then let go of me and skipped away, making his way back to Mori.
I shook my head, a huge smile plastered on my face. I couldn't believe how much I was actually enjoying being here. It was only my first day as this Host Clubs little errand boy, but I felt like I have been here for so long. I snickered. I wonder if this is how it feels to have a good time.
"Maybe this won't be too bad..." I muttered, looking out the window, the warm sun shining down at me. "Just maybe."
[ An Hour Later]
Today would be the last day that I would be an errand boy, or a server from what I could tell. As the day was nearing an end, I couldn't help but smile like an idiot the entire time I served someone. I was really happy for some reason. I think it's because I made what you could call friends already. I didn't expect to make friends and all. People think I'm really sassy and annoying, which I can be when I'm upset. But I'm a bubble of joy! I wouldn't hurt a fly.
I sighed and started to walk towards the kitchen to pick up another dessert for a guest. I quickly grabbed it and walked back over, handing it to her with my casual smile.
"Thank y-you!" She blushed and thanked me for bringing her the dessert.
I smiled, "It's not a problem." I said.
She went to say something else, but the sound of glass shattering interrupted her. We both spun around and looked towards the loud noise.
"Haruhi-kun! Haruhi-kun suddenly attacked me! Somebody, quick! Come deal with this commoner!"
My eyes widened. Haruhi attacked a guest? I looked towards my guest and bowed in apology.
"I'm sorry! I have to go and help out. My apologies." I bowed.
My guest waved her hands in front of herself nervously and laughed, "No, no. Go ahead!" She said.
I nodded and ran off towards Haruhi. As I made my way towards him, I managed to get a glimpse of Haruhi hovering over the guest in the floor. It was the one guest that had said something earlier. I furrowed my eyebrows together. What happened?
Suddenly, Hikaru and Kaoru walked over and poured water over the both of them. My eyes flew open. They pouted water on the guest! What was happening?! I ran over to Haruhi and helped him up, seeing as Tamaki was already walking over to the girl and helping her up. I looked at Haruhi's wet uniform and the pure shock that was plastered on his face.
"What are you doing?!" The guest who had water poured over her and claimed that Haruhi attacked her shouted. After glaring at the twins, she clung onto Tamaki's shirt. "Tamaki-sama, Haruhi-kun attacked me!"
Her shriek made me cringe. I narrowed my eyes at her.
Tamaki lifted the girls chin up, "How disgraceful." He muttered, his eyes darker than usual. "You're the one who threw Haruhi's bag in the pond, aren't you?"
My eyes widened. 'Is that why Haruhi and Tamaki were outside in the water? Haruhi's back was thrown into there? So Haruhi must have lost something in there then...' I thought, 'That's horrible.'
I rubbed Haruhi's shoulder and he looked up at me, a small smile on my face. I gave him a big smile of mine, trying my best to reassure him that this would be handled properly.
The girl gasped in shock. "How can you say that! Do you have any proof?" She asked him.
I sighed. You could easily tell that she was lying. The way she moved her arms, and the way she lowered her voice and raised the pitch of it; they were all signs of someone being nervous under pressure, meaning she had to be lying.
"You really are pretty, but you are not fit to be our guest. I know this much. Haruhi isn't that kind of man." Tamaki stated with a rather stern and bold tone, defending Haruhi.
I smiled. Nice one, Tamaki.
The girl glared at Tamaki, tears filling her eyes. "Tamaki-sama, you idiot!" She shouted and made a run for the door, tears dripping down her cheeks.
It hurt knowing that we made a guest cry, but she threw Haruhi's bag and that isn't right of anyone. Haruhi's status didn't have anything to do with this, nor did he deserve to be bullied for it. That's just stupid.
I sighed. "Well, looks like that problem is solved." I said, rubbing Haruhi's shoulder. "You okay? I mean, did you find all the stuff that she threw into the fountain or whatever?"
Haruhi nodded. "I did. Tamaki helped me." He said.
I hummed. "Good."
Tamaki sighed loudly, catching our attention. He put his fist beneath his chin. "I'm going to decide on your punishment for causing this trouble." Tamaki stated bluntly.
My eyes widened along with Haruhi's. "Wait, Tamaki." I said, catching his attention. He looked over at me. "Why is he getting punished? He didn't hurt the guest! The guest was the problem!"
He stared at me. "Both of your quotas will be increased to 1,000." He announced, completely ignoring what I said.
I hung my head. Can't say I didn't try...
"1,000?" Haruhi asked. "As in guests?"
Tamaki nodded.
I bit my lip. "Well, no worries, Haruhi-kun. I'll be helping you out with that seeing as I broke the vase and all." I said, trying to laugh it off.
Kyoya walked over and handed Haruhi a bag. I raised an eyebrow. Kyoya sighed, "It's the only spare uniform we have." He said.
Haruhi nodded and examined the bag. He walked over to the changing rooms and walked into it right away. I blinked and looked around. Honey-senpai, Mori, Hikaru, Kaoru, Kyoya, and Tamaki were all looking towards the changing room. Tamaki seemed to be pretty down though. He sighed and grabbed some towels.
"For Haruhi?" I asked. He nodded. "Isn't that sweet of you."
Tamaki disregarded my comment and walked towards the small changing room. He pulled the curtain open, "Haruhi---" He stopped and stared.
I looked over at Tamaki. What was wrong now? I looked at the other guys for help. The twins shrugged. I sighed and walked over to see for myself.
"Tamaki, what wrong---" I started to ask, but I stopped as soon as I glanced into the changing room.
There was Haruhi, standing in the girls uniform. I couldn't believe it, he--- no, she was a girl! I feel so damn stupid. How did I not tell earlier?
"Haruhi..." Tamaki muttered.
"Yes?" Haruhi asked.
"You're a girl?" He asked
Haruhi nodded. "Biologically, yes." She said.
"I feel like an idiot." I muttered out, covering my face in shame. "I can't believe I couldn't tell earlier!"
"If you all think of me as a bit, then that's okay with me too." Haruhi stated nonchalantly.
On the inside, my heart clenched a little. I really thought Haruhi was a boy, and a cute one at that. I can't believe I was fooled. I shook my head with a smile. I need to pay attention more. Oh well.
On the other hand, Tamaki was blushing like a mad man. He was covering his face with the palm of his hand the entire time he stated and examined Haruhi. I smirked. Was someone checking Haruhi out?
"Still, senpai. You were kind of cool earlier..." Haruhi said.
I rose an eyebrow. Tamaki cool?
"Being a Host and getting fussed over by girls by not be so bad after all." Haruhi said, a small smile on her face. "I got it! From now on, I'll start using bro and dude!"
Haruhi laughed a melodic laugh. I smiled as Tamaki only blushed even more.
Well, we each learn something new every day. Today, I learned that the cute boy I happened to befriend was really a girl. I also learned that being a Host wasn't too bad just like Haruhi said. The whole girls fussing over you part wasn't ideal for me, but it was something refreshing and entertaining.
This was going to be an interesting journey. I chuckled and shook my head.
"So this is Ouran High School..."
I smiled widely.
"I like it!"
