Chapter 60~ My Brother Is Fucking Awesome
I don't want to speak of what happened after my outburst... but I'm probably just going to say it anyways. Allen held me close for a long, long time. I actually stopped crying and didn't feel sorry for myself as much. Then, he made me talk to Candace about it so I could get it off my chest once more. All of this made me feel like a huge weight was lifted off of my shoulders. After that, we went to the store and stocked up on ice cream and root beer for a little party.
Allen may seem like the rough around type, but when it comes to family... he's really sweet. I can't believe that he cares this much for me. So this is what family is supposed to be like?
This turned out to be a good day, Allen wouldn't make me have a bad one. His friends actually made me smile, a real smile. Trevor makes me giggle when he tries to flirt with me and Cadence always smacks him when he gets too close to me. Cadence is really fun-hearted and cares about her friends, she also loves drawing on my skin. She told me that I am her canvas when paper is not.
"Show us some of your cool powers Olivia!" Trevor pumped a fist in the air.
"Don't demand the poor girl!" Cadence smacked the back of his head.
"Cadence..." he pouted.
"It's alright, I'll do something that I'll freak him out," I said with a sly grin.
I sat next to him on the couch and placed his hands in mine. Then I closed my eyes and took steady breaths to read his energy.
"Your full given name is... Trevor von sinclair, heir to the sinclair estate. You had a pet goat as a friend at the age of five and still hate eating cauliflower."
Everyone gasped in disbelief. I guess no one knew who he really was, I mean, his actual worth.
"Heh heh, I guess my secret's out~ your power is freakishly accurate!" He approved.
"Trevor, you're rich?!" Allen and Cadence shouted in sync.
"Yep, I didn't plan on telling you guys for a while. I wanted to see if you were my real friends, I've had too many who only wanted me for my money," he sat back and spoke as if it were nothing.
"Of course we're your real friends! We've been through lots of deep shit together! Even though I utterly despise your actions, I actually like having you has a friend. I wouldn't leave you for anything..." Cadence explained with deep emotion and pinched cheeks.
"Aww, I knew you loved me~" he made a kissy face at her.
She immediately whacked his head with a rolled up magazine.
"Can you do me next? I wanna get in on the uncovering action!" Cadence pushed Trevor aside and sat in his place on the couch.
"As you wish," I clasped her hands and closed my eyes once more. Information and scenes from her past experiences poured into me like a wave.
"You're full given name is... Cadenza Eve Porter. You grew up in Hawaii near Honolulu and are a master sandcastle maker. You won the seashell contest when you were five and had a pet dolphin named Momo."
"Your power is so cool, freaky, but cool," she approved.
I turned to Allen and requested, "Do you want to go next?"
He replied, "Nah, we have to get this party started."
And so, when the sun started to go down, we gathered our party supplies and skateboards to head down to the park. Allen drove once again, Cadence doodled all over my arm, Trevor was his usual flirtatious self. Everything was perfect when we arrived. Since Allen purposely waited until sundown for us to arrive, I would be comfortable because the sun wouldn't beat down as much. I still put on my sunscreen just in case.
The others saw my sunscreen making and that freaked them out. After all, I take the darkness and use it as a shade for my skin. It does look odd forming in my hands so I understand the scare. When I said that it also works as a lotion Cadence calmed down and asked me for some. Trevor was still freaked out though.
We kept the ice cream and root beer cold in a mini freezer that Trevor donated as we zipped around on our boards. This is the first time that I've skateboarded without wearing any protective gear so Allen was on edge. If I got hurt, of course I wouldn't feel it, but Allen would probably freak out as the protective brother he is.
I mostly just went up and down some ramps, worked on acceleration, deceleration, balance, and stopping. Trevor and Allen were showing off by flipping their boards and grinding on the rails. Cadence watched us because she's not much of a skateboarder. Although she played some awesome music through a portable speaker.
Everything was pretty chill, the root beer floats we made tasted liked heaven and we all got to know each other a little better. I guess talking to people isn't that bad after all.
Then Allen decided that I needed to learn some tricks.
He tried teaching me how to flip my board while rolling. He showed me a couple times first then he explained it to me. I wasn't all for it at first, but it never hurts to try... no pun intended.
So I rolled around and tried at a considerable speed. I lost my balance and fell backwards onto my butt. I was okay of course, but I could see Allen trying to hide his concern from me. I tried again, fell flat on my face. I tried once more and fell on my arm.
That made him rush over to assist me.
"I'm pretty sure that I'm fine--"
"Just because you can't feel pain doesn't mean that your body doesn't receive the damage," he fussed.
Cadence and Trevor appeared concerned from Allen's statement. I forgot that we haven't told them about my special condition.
"I have this thing where I can't feel pain. I've tested it too," I explained.
I stood up and moved my arm around to show that I was perfectly fine. It wasn't a hard fall anyways.
"You're starting to act like Ollie," I teased.
"I know, it sickens me," he added.
"So you like... Can't feel any pain?" Trevor inquired, leaning in our conversation.
"Nope. I can't even count how many times I've accidentally burned myself in the shower. Not to mention how many times I've accidentally cut myself while washing dishes. I'm officially banded from using knives too," I replied nonchalantly.
"Wow, you're just full of surprises," Cadence came up behind me.
"Yeah, I am," I agreed. "Ah, Cadence... are we... friends?"
Without hesitation, she wrapped her arms around me and replied, "Of course we are! I'm the artist and you're my canvas!"
I kinda freaked out since she threw herself on me. But I hugged her back once I realized she wasn't letting go.
"Wow, you must really not feel pain, her hugs are death squeezes," Trevor observed.
"I said I can't feel pain, not pressure," I pried her off of me.
Cadence smiled wildly before going back over to the portable speaker. Her giddy expression quickly changed to an energized one.
"LETS GET THIS RAVE STARTED!" She shouted as she pulled out glow sticks from Narnia.
She then amplified the music and played something called Vocaloid. I'm not quite sure what happened next because all I can remember is a mass of people joining in to enjoy the so-called rave.
That's when I learned that Cadence is a DJ, her club name is DJ Candy.
The night was lit up with human glow sticks and phone lights. It was mostly teenagers here, some were in their early twenties. Some people even brought their skateboards and decked them out with glow-in-the-dark stickers. Some even had wheels that glow! Cadence used glow-in-the-dark markers to draw all over my body. I looked like shining rainbow! Allen later explained to me that he and Cadence host a rave every time he comes back home.
*~ Late at night ~*
The warm summer air raked through my hair as I leaned against the deck rail. Allen was inside playing a video game that I had no interest in. Cadence and Trevor went home a few hours ago; he finally convinced her to go on a date with him. The rave was a success, it was so much much too! Allen said that he was glad to see me gleeful for the first time. A lot of things have been making me gloomy lately. Mostly it's myself causing the harm, but I've given up on trying to resolve that.
The atmosphere seemed a little empty so I pulled my violin out of the shadows and played the only song I knew. With such ease, the bow stroked the strings to create favorable music. Everything disappeared as the music engulfed the wide open space. When I play this violin, I finally feel that I can do something on my own. As if I was my own being. As if I wasn't connected to that idiotic girl. As if I wasn't so different from everyone else.
I feel as if I belong somewhere.
At that moment, an odd sound abruptly interrupted my performance. It came from the forest and rustled the trees. It sounded a little high pitched but not frightening. Normally a person should just ignore the sound and go inside... but then we wouldn't have horror movies.
Even if it was a mass murderer, monster, or poltergeist, they would be doing me a favor by killing me. Then I could see if death hurts.
And so, I placed my violin back in the shadows and ventured into the winding forest. I'll be back before Allen notices anything. Even though it was pitch black, I could see as if it was day. It's my special ability as I said before. I felt pretty comfortable out here, almost as if I belonged here too. Although, I didn't hear the odd noise again. I searched a little more before turning around and heading back to the house.
"Kab kab kaboo! Pumpka~" It cried out as if to scare me.
I turned around once more to see a flying pumpkin. You heard me right, a flying pumpkin. Although it looked very odd for a pumpkin, there seemed to be a ghostly presence about it.
Besides, it's summer, pumpkins aren't in season until fall. So why am I seeing a flying pumpkin?
Its pumpkin body had a pair of circular holes carved out of its rind that resembled eyes. Those holes were releasing light as if they were a flashlight or beacon. The ghostly body that seemed to live in the pumpkin was black with a pointy collar, yellowish eyes with no visible pupils, a pair of fangs, curved ears, and a curled stem.
"Kab kaboo~ Pumpkaboo!" It shook vigorously as if to startle me. But its small size just made it look so adorable. I couldn't help but to smile at the effort it made to try to scare me.
"You're kinda cute. My name is Olivia, Is your name Pumpkaboo?" I introduced myself.
It sighed as if to give up on its initial intention. Then it floated around in a circle and smiled.
"Kaboo!" It came closer to me.
"Did you hear me playing my violin?" I asked.
It spun around happily as if to say "yes."
"Do you want me to play it again?"
"Boo! Kab kab kaboo!" It was ecstatic.
I proceeded to retrieve my instrument from the shadows and play it for the odd creature. It danced around slowly in time with the music as a thoughtful smile crept upon my face. It looked so happy to be in my company in the quiet forest. I don't see any other of its kind, maybe it was just lonely and wanted a friend.
Now that I think about it... the sound I heard earlier sounded more like a desperate cry. It must have been so sad and alone. The little thing won't survive on its own...
Once the song was over, I placed my violin back in the shadows and approached the small creature. I held my hand out and it placed itself into my palm. The pumpkin part was a physical matter while the ghostly part was obviously thin as air. It felt so weird trying to pet the ghost, it felt as if nothing was there.
"Well, I should get back to my brother, he will be worried about me if he sees that I left without saying anything," I turned to leave as the creature proceeded to follow.
"Kaboo? Boo! Boo! Pumpkaboo..." It made a somber expression as if it was going to cry.
I sighed knowingly, "I had a feeling this would happen. Come on, I'll take care of you from now on."
"Boo! Boo! Pumpkaboo~!" Its frown quickly turned upside down as it spun in rapid circles from excitement.
I laughed from the sight. Then an idea popped into my head, "Pumpkaboo is a little long, how about I call you... Boo Boo. It's cute and small like you."
"Kaboo~ kab kab!" It seemed to nod in agreement.
"Well then, come on Boo Boo, let's head back to the house," I stated.
"Kab kaboo!" It floated ahead of me excitedly.
"Wait up! You don't know the way back!" I ran after it.
*~『Back at the house』~*
"There you are, I was about to send a search party," Allen joked as I came through the screen door.
"Sorry, I heard an odd sound in the forest and ended up finding this adorable creature. I named it Boo Boo," I informed nonchalantly.
"Pumpkaboo~" Boo Boo floated around Allen.
"You've got yourself a Pokémon," he informed.
"A Pokémon? What's that?" I cocked my head to the side.
"Pokémon, A.K.A Pocket Monsters, is a card game and video game franchise where you collect and battle these creatures called Pokémon. I only know this because some of my states are obsessed with it. Here, take these. You need them more than I do," he said as he gave me some objects that I've never seen before.
It was a red and white colored ball and a red and black rectangular object. They looked pretty foreign to me.
"That is called a Poké Ball, it's used to catch Pokémon while that is called a Pokédex, you use it to scan the Pokémon you find and get information on them." He explained.
"Okay... so... if I catch Pumpkaboo, then it'll really be mine?"
"That's the rules."
I turned to Boo Boo and asked a simple question, "Do you want to come along with me?"
Without hesitation, Boo Boo nudged the button on the Poké Ball and got sucked into it.
Wobble...
Wobble...
Wobble...
Click!
I felt a little warmer inside, I have a new companion to stay with me. Looks like I won't be alone any longer. I released Boo Boo so it could float freely around the room. It almost acted like a child with its curious actions, inspecting anything and everything.
When Boo Boo floated over to me, I pulled out the Pokédex and it opened by itself to scan my little friend.
"Pumpkaboo, the Pumpkin Pokémon. Pumpkaboo's eyes can glow, which lights the way for travelers. They often sleep in the ground," a female voice spoke some information.
"Here's another entry if that one wasn't satisfactory: 'It is said to carry wandering spirits to the place where they belong so they can move on.' Like I said, some of my states are obsessed with Pokémon. I just happen to pick up what they talk about," he shrugged.
You know a lot about Pokémon for not liking it.
Boo Boo continued to float around the room to explore. It was a very curious thing, I can't deny that it's also very adorable. Allen didn't seem to pay much mind to it... until realization hit.
"What's a video game character doing in the real world?"
~ The Next Morning ~
"You have a fucking Pokémon?! How amazing can you get?!" Trevor exclaimed as we were about to head out. Boo Boo was floating around and Trevor couldn't help but to caress the physical part of its body.
"I found it last night in the forest. It didn't seem to have any of its species floating around so I took it in. If you think that's amazing, you should hear me play violin--"
"You can play the violin?!" It was Cadence's turn to shout.
"Yeah, I'll play once we come back," I suggested.
"Pumpka, kab kaboo!" Boo Boo must have thought that it was coming along for a ride.
"Sorry Boo Boo, you have to stay here and protect the house. Can you be a good boy and do that for me? Assuming that you are male..."
"Kaboo! Kab kab!" He nodded and placed a determined look on his lips.
"We'll be back soon, I promise," I gave him a loving smile before waving out the door.
We all piled into the car with excited faces. It would be my first time going to this place called the mall. Cadence drove this time since we were going to the mall and she just had to drive us there. Allen said that there was a sale going on at this store called Hot Topic. He also mentioned that it would be a great place for me to get a chance at defining myself.
Trevor was a complete brony so he wanted MLP merch while Cadence was super into this sci-fi show called Doctor Who. Allen, on the other hand, is a slut for wristbands and graphic Tees. Coincidentally, Hot Topic is known for having all these things.
"After Hot Topic, let's go to the converse store. There's a once in a lifetime sale going on!" Cadence might be too overly excited to drive.
"Alright, Alright, don't get your panties in a bunch. The mall isn't going anywhere anytime soon," Allen tried to calm her down.
About fifteen minutes later, we reached a ginormous building that was really wide and really tall. It must have had at least two or three floors. Once Cadence found a place to park, we piled out and stayed together as we headed for the front door. While Cadence and Trevor were arguing about something once again, Allen pulled me aside and whispered in my ear.
"If you can't stand it anymore, say something."
I knew what he meant as a few people walked past and gave me an odd stare. The mall would have a lot more people than a rave in the park and an overseas flight. Let alone more judgmental, uneducated children. I nodded in understanding to let him know that I could do this. He still had a worried expression but he relaxed as he trusted my word.
And so, we all stepped through the doors to the wide world of brand name stores. But instead of warding-off stares, I was greeted by an unexpected group of male teens.
"Hey, I like your tattoos," was the thing that made me feel welcome.
Along with Cadence being a DJ, I learned that she was also a tattoo artist. Now remember, she used washable markers on my skin, and they think that these are ink tattoos.
I have a feeling that she's actually older than she appears to be. She must be in her early twenties... but she looks seventeen!
I quickly thanked them with a smile. Then I realized that Cadence did that on purpose when I first met her. She already saved me from unwanted emotions. Allen's friends really are pretty awesome people.
"Off to the land of Hot Topica!" Trevor ran ahead of us and we had to chase after him.
"Stay with the group Trevor!" Cadence called after him.
So Trevor is a kid at heart, this'll be fun.
When we reached Hot Topic, we kind of dispersed to different sections of the quaint store. From habit, I stayed close to Allen. He realized that I had never really had this independence before so he helped me in that department. He told me to look around and find anything that appeals to me. He would pay for what I wanted as long as it wasn't too expensive.
"OMG they have Rarity shirts! This is why I love this store!" Trevor was in his own world.
"I need this Tardis necklace!" Cadence was far out as well.
"I need these wristbands... there are bunnies with sunglasses on them," Allen was... yeah, that.
I, on the other hand, was just sifting through racks of clothes. Then I saw some belts on another rack beside me and immediately picked up one that had black and white violins all around it. The buckle had a cute little music note on it.
Then something amazing changed my point of view on clothing. I used to not understand why girls go crazy over clothes, but that changed when it saw it.
A black and white dress with quaint music notes, black ribbons, and white lace. The top half resembled a corset with the black crossing strings and conforming fitting. The sides had a soft black fabric that laid on top of the music note pattern and flowed when I spun it around.
"Allen. Allen. Allen," the words spat from my lips.
"Yes, why are you so--"
"I want this dress. I need this dress. Can you buy me this dress?" I presented it to him as Cadence and Trevor came to see what my commotion was.
"How much is it?" Allen had a handful of wristbands.
I checked the tag and reported it back to him, "$15.00 and it's 50% off so..."
"It'll be about $7.50, $8 with tax. Nice work sis, you know your sales," he patted my head with a familiar grin.
"Can I have the belt too? It's $5.00--"
"Yes, because you've earned my approval."
I have to say, since Ollie's not here...
My brother is fucking awesome.

Happy birthday Ukraine and Belarus! (August 24th and 25th)
Hiya Luckies! I really wanted to write some more about Olivia so I decided to do a second chapter. Olivine was getting all the limelight.
I'm super obsessed with the Professor Layton series. Luke Triton is my favorite character, he's just such an adorable kid! Even though Luke has a mom and dad, I see Hershel as a farther figure to him. He always protects Luke and makes sure that he's alright, I can tell that he will become a great gentleman from Hershel's training/adventures.
(The Professor's full name is Hershel Layton, if you didn't know)
(Seriously, Luke is so adorable I just want to cuddle the fuck out of him)
