Prologue
A/N: Hi guys welcome to my probably awful story. It's based off of one of my favourite films, 'The Visit', which is basically about siblings whose mum sends them to their grandparents for a week but they turn out to be asylum patients who killed their real grandparents and try to kill the siblings. I'm doing this with young Annabeth and Magnus (and yes I know they're cousins). It'll start off with Annabeth going over the footage she filmed at her "grandparents" with Percy. Most of the story will be the footage.
Annabeth took a deep breath as she turned the video tape over in her hands. She hadn't watched the home recordings since her and her father originally downloaded them to the tape for the police. Magnus hadn't seem them at all. Her wisdom told her to wait a little longer to show it to him. Based off of their discussion, he barely remembered the events that they had recorded, and besides, Magnus was mourning. He didn't need their past chaos flung upon him as well. Annabeth, on the other hand, needed the therapy. She figured that, despite having experienced so much more now, she would never recover from the horror that was that week recorded on to the tape unless she reviewed the events. Still, she was too frightened (although she would never admit that) to watch the tape alone. She called Percy.
"Hey, Wise Girl, what was so urgent? It is 2 am, and sleep is like blue food. Necessary." Percy said whilst yawning. He rubbed his bloodshot eyes. "I know it's 2 am. Also, blue food is not necessary. The dye is unhealthy, so it's actually the opposite." "Don't avoid my question." Annabeth sighed, and sank into the sofa. "Hey...what's wrong?" Percy asked, standing up straighter. His jade eyes scanned the room, checking for potential threats or sources of panic. Annabeth held up the tape, and Percy took it from her gingerly. "I was 6 at the time of these recordings. I can remember what happened to some extent, but not well enough. I need you to watch it with me, Seaweed Brain." "What's on the tape?" "Another point of horror from my childhood." "Ah. I understand, Beth." "I know-- do you have any food? I have a feeling we'll be here for a while." "I thought you were wise. You must have some!" "Check the fridge." "Why don't you?" "I always knew you had some incapabilities, but this is just awful." ".....don't look so judge-y." "That's just my natural face." "Stooppp..." "Stop what?" "Fine! I'll check the frige! And the cupboards!" "And I'll check your IQ!" "Wh-HEY!"
Percy popped the tape into it's player and snuggled into the sofa. Annabeth leant her head against Percy's shoulder as be pulled a (Finding Nemo) blanket over the pair of them. Chips, (A/N: I'm British and that hurt to write so much) popcorn, chocolate and soda were spread over the top of the blanket.
Picking up her remote, Annabeth quickly paused the tape. It stuck at the first image: Annabeth chasing Magnus down the corridor at her father's house. Her father stood directly in front of the camera, unlike the two children (who were at the back of the shot). He was apparently speaking straight to the camera and whoever was behind it. "Before we play this, I just want you to know that I don't want pity or sympathy or anything of the sort, this is just therapy for me." Annabeth stated, looking her boyfriend in the eyes. Her stormy grey eyes were clouded over, unreadable. "Loyalty is my fatal flaw, I can't help pity!" Percy complained, but he cut off Annabeth before she could talk again. "But, for you, Wise Girl, I'll do my best." Annabeth smiled, and Percy could feel the moving face muscles against his shoulder. Annabeth pressed the play button.
A/N: This chapter is a lot shorter than I plan the others to be. It was just a quick introduction to start off my fanfiction. I hope somebody actually reads this. Bye for now then!
