A/N: I just wanted to use this A/N to thank everyone reading this story. You're all so sweet and kind and honestly I normally give up when I write fanfiction but you all are keeping me determined and happy to keep writing this. So thank you all so much.
Annabeth was filming this time. Magnus slid down the staircase, laughing. "Come on, Na-Ba! Do it!" He urged from the bottom of the stairs. "We don't have time for this. We need to talk to them about last night." Annabeth replied. "You're gonna go down the stairs anyway. You might as well make it fun." "There's no point. I might get hurt, and what good would that be if there's another monster?" "I didn't get hurt." "I'm not giving in." And with that, Annabeth walked downstairs.
"You needed to live a little." Percy reflected. Annabeth rolled her eyes at him. "You didn't ever experience monsters when you were little. Magnus and I were told they weren't real, when they were. I was always scared of them coming back, like the spiders at night. So, I couldn't just live a little, I was constantly afraid of being injured and incapable of defending myself and Magnus." "The worst you'd get were carpet burns." "I was 6!"
"You're no fun." Magnus chided grumpily, his arms crossed. "Good morning, Nana." Annabeth greeted as she sat down. "Morning, dear. Grandpa's just at the barn." Nana said, passing them each a plate. Annabeth set down the camera on the kitchen counter. They served themselves and ate. Magnus nudged Annabeth, who shook her head. She made a complicated gesture with her hands and arms.
"I don't get it." Percy said, confused. "No one would. It's a secret sign language we made up. I was telling him that we should ask...Grandpa about it instead of her, as it might be a touchy subject." "Oh. You were so cute." "Say that again, and I swear I will-" "You need to swear it on the Styx for that threat to be worth anything. I thought you were meant to be wise." Annabeth resisted the urge to slap him.
With a half-hearted reply of gestures, Magnus slumped down in his seat, looking warily at Nana. "Is everything okay?" She asked him. "No-" Magnus began, but Annabeth began. "Of course. He had an asthma attack today, that's all." "Oh, okay then. I hope you're alright. It'd be a shame if you were hurt."
"Wasn't she the one who literally poisoned the spaghetti?" Percy said. "You don't know that, and there is such thing as lying, even if you're fatal flaw doesn't allow for it." Annabeth said, but she smiled.
"We're going to go outside now." Annabeth said, stacking the plates. She grabbed the camera and dragged Magnus behind her. She seemed to do that a lot. Annabeth zoomed in on Grandpa moving hay stacks inside the barn. This continued for a few moments before he turned around and waved to the camera, smiling widely to reveal yellow teeth.
"Someone needs to go over dental health care." Percy remarked. "Someone needs to stop pausing the tape and discussing every last detail." Annabeth replied. "Someone needs to appreciate their awesome boyfriend."
Magnus and Annabeth approached him. "Hello, Grandpa." Annabeth greeted with fake happiness. "...Hello, Grandpa..." Magnus echoed uncomfortably. "Good morning, kids. Did you want something?"
"Your head on a stick." Annabeth muttered, almost inaudibly.
Magnus tossed a glance over his shoulder at the hills. "Can we go out?" He asked. "Well, I needed to go buy some milk. How about we drive to the nearest town, hmm? It's very old. The buildings are even nicer than our mansion." Grandpa replied. "Yes!" Annabeth exclaimed, nodding eagerly and excitedly, whilst Magnus looked like he wanted to tell him that that wasn't what he wanted at all. "Can we bring our camera?" He asked meekly. "Of course!" Grandpa said, pulling his car keys out of his pocket. Like ducklings, Annabeth and Magnus trailed after him as he made his way to his car.
"Quack." Percy said.
Magnus looked like he was about to throw up. "Look out of the window." Annabeth suggested from behind the camera. He nodded, but apparently couldn't speak. He was probably having difficulty breathing. "I'll open the window for you, kid." Grandpa said, pressing a button. Magnus, having gathered some air, looked at the camera directly and whispered: "I know how to break out of cars." "Stay seated, you butt." Annabeth hissed. "Sorry." He mumbled. "You sh- LOOK AT THAT CHURCH!" Annabeth squealed, pointing at a church with iridescent stained glass windows and a perfectly straight arch. "I told you it's nice, didn't I?" Grandpa said, parking the car.
"Your Athena was showing." "You say that like it's a bad thing. I'd rather be intelligent than a fish." "Come on, we all know Broseidon is better." "You just called your dad 'Broseidon.' I'm not sure you get an opinion on this." "You're just jealous because my pun game is strong." "Just like your ugly game." "You don't mean that. You love me." "Somehow."
As they walked down the streets, Annabeth decided to finally ask the questions that had been haunting her and her cousin all morning. "What was in that spaghetti? I can't even remember going upstairs to bed." She asked. "You were probably tired from all that travelling. You two were asleep so we carried you up to bed." Grandpa said, sounding almost rehearsed. "At your age?" Magnus blurted out, forgetting his manners. "You're not exactly heavy. Annabeth, you're a good weight for your age- you'll be strong one day, but you are only 6. Magnus, you're very skinny because if your asthma, and again are only 5." Grandpa replied. Annabeth hummed. "We woke up. Nana was scratching the walls." She said. "Look, we're old, and when you're old, you get sick. She has a condition similar to sleep walking, so she gets up at night and imagines things. She acts like that sometimes. We locked the door so she wouldn't get in." Grandpa said, carefully forming his words. "Oh. Okay." Annabeth said, sounding glad to know but unaware of what to do with the information. Magnus bit his lip, probably trying to not say anything impolite again. Suddenly, Grandpa eyed someone across the street. It was a man wearing a large hat and baggy, long trousers. He was on crutches. "He's been watching us. Following us." Grandpa muttered, running across the street. "No, no! Grandpa, come back!" Annabeth shouted. The two cousins kept calling him, but he ignored them. He knocked the man on crutches to the ground and began to pummel him. Magnus screamed.
"This isn't right. Whatever went on here, this Grandpa of yours is too strong." Percy said, staring at the screen.
A/N: Not much of the Percabeth scenes in this one, but I had important footage stuff to get through. Hope you liked this chapter. Until next time,
