A/N: This chapter is of Annabeth and Magnus being told they're being sent to their grandparents. Footage will be in italics, Annabeth and Percy bits will be in normal font. Okie dokie, let's get started.
The young girl with long, curly blonde hair ran after the slightly younger boy with untidy, straight blonde hair that needed to be cut. Their names: Annabeth and Magnus. They were yelling at eachother about the Empire State Building and the Sun. On the floor near them was a pile of blocks that might have once been a human sized version of the Empire State Building. In the centre of the rubble was a large wooden Sun. "I just wanted to bring about Summer!" Magnus cried out in a pouty voice as he hurried away from his older cousin. "It's the middle of June! It already is Summer, you butt!" Annabeth replied, seething as she chased after him.
"You're so cute and evil here!" Percy exclaimed. He made out to pinch Annabeth's cheek, but she slapped his hand away. "Don't be annoying. Just watch the tape.
"Annabeth. I'm sure he didn't mean to ruin your building." The man infront of the camera said sternly. Annabeth spun around angrily, but she sighed and began to pick up her blocks, rebuilding her structure. Warily, Magnus stooped down to grab his Sun, which he proceeded to throw across the room like a frisbee. It broke Annabeth's Empire State Building once again. "Here comes the Sun?" Magnus tried, but he looked afraid. Annabeth grabbed the Sun and hit her cousin with it around the head.
Percy gave a low whistle, which Annabeth scowled at. "You looked like a young mutant ninja turtle." Percy told her. His tone suggested that he meant it as a reassurance, but Annabeth glared at him. "That's not a compliment." "Oh."
Whoever was holding the camera moved forward. A tan, freckled hand reached from behind the camera and wrapped around Magnus' bony wrist, separating him from his cousin. "Don't agitate her, Pumpkin. It's not nice."
"Ha! Pumpkin!" Percy laughed. "Natalie Chase, the woman speaking, is dead." Annabeth said matter-of-factly. That shut Percy up, just as planned. He felt guilty.
"W-well....IT WAS AN ACCIDENT!" Magnus burst out desperately. "It wasn't! You were too busy having adult talk to see, but I saw and Magnus kept on flinging it right at my perfect Empire State Building!" Annabeth protested. "What did we say about hubris, Annabeth?" Her father told her. "....it's bad." "So why did you boast?" "B-because it was really good! The best! You're just too mean to look at my creations!" When Annabeth attempted to storm off, Magnus jumped onto her back. She fell to the floor, yelping in surprise.
"You sounded like a chihuahua." Percy noted. "You won't sound like anything because you won't have a tongue unless you keep quiet." "Yes, ma'am!" "What?" "A dare from Leo, ma'am!" "You're immature. Not to mention unintelligent, to put yourself in the situation to get dared by Leo." "It was worth it. I dared Leo to kiss Nico." "Do I even want to know what happened?" "Yes, ma'am! Will saw. Now Leo's got an arrow stuck in his hair." "Will and Nico are definetly dating." "They say they're 'just friends.'" "You're blinded by loyalty to believe that."
"Get off me, you butt!" Annabeth demanded, squirming uncomfortably. "Why should I?" "Why shouldn't you?" "..." "Thought so. Now budge!" Magnus, being 5, jumped off with too much energy and fell flat on his face. Annabeth rolled her eyes. "Ooh, Pumpkin, are you alright?" Natalie asked, wrapping her son in a hug. "No, I'm Magnus."
"That has got to be the worst joke anyone has ever made." Percy said. "His sense of humour wasn't very good. He's very sarcastic these days. You'd like him- except he hates blue." Percy's face became one of horror and confusion.
Once Annabeth and Magnus finally began to play normally and civilly, Frederick and Natalie could finally resume their 'adult talk', as young Annabeth had put it. "As I was saying, Nat- Mother and Father want to see them. Alone." "They're far too young to go off on their own like that!" "I know, but we could summon Annie's mother and Magnus' father- they'd protect them. Keep them out of harm's way." "That's dangerous. We can't take risks like that again." "I know, but we can't refuse our parents. They already don't trust us." "Because of Randolph. He shouldn't have scared them so much with the whole revelation of the truth of our world." "He was scared- he'd lost his family." "Don't defend him! You know he wants to use Magnus! Don't you care about your nephew?!" "I do, Natalie. Let's just- just send them to Mother and Father. It'll only be a week." Natalie hesitated. "If anything goes wrong, I'm blaming you." "Fine, but nothing wi- turn off that camera!" "Nope."
"Let me guess- something goes wrong." Percy estimated. "It doesn't take a child of Athena to figure that out, Seaweed Brain."
"Annabeth, Magnus, come over here for a moment." Frederick called. Slowly, the cousins made their way over to Frederick and Natalie. Annabeth grabbed Magnus' arm before he could fall over after stumbling over a stray block. "What do you want, daddy? Auntie?" "Well, we decided it was about time you two finally met your grandparents!" Natalie informed them, smiling sweetly. "What about my daddy? And Na-ba's mummy? Will we ever meet them?" Magnus asked out of nowhere. "Probably, but not now." Frederick said. "When do we go? Will we travel by train? Or car? Or plane? Iz their house big? Has it got a really nice ark-ear-textch-chair?" Annabeth asked, stumbling over the word 'architecture.' "It's a very old mansion, sweetie. I don't remember much about it overall. You'll be going by train. They'll be meeting you at the station closest to their home." Natalie said. "Do we get to go on the train all by ourselves?" Annabeth asked. "Yes, we can't go with you. The helper on the train will keep an eye on the pair of you, though, so no misbehaving." Frederick warned. Annabeth nodded seriously. Magnus looked anxious.
"Uh-oh. Mansions are never good." Percy said. "Don't be prejudiced. It's only like that in horror movies and it's very rare for mansions to be so horrific in reality." "But you've made it clear that what's happened isn't good. So this tape is evidence for my point." "You're hopeless." "But I'm your hopeless." "That doesn't even make sense." "Neither does the fact your dad sent you to your grandparents alone." "I never said that it did."
A/N: So that's the first part of Annabeth's and Magnus' horror memory! Yayyy! See you next chapter
