97. The Lunar Trip
continued from snippet no. 45 The Lunar Crisis
The Moon crams his shaking hands into his pocket. The Earthen tremors have subsided, but something lingers in the air like dust refusing to settle. These specks buzz with unknown energy, charging the usually temperate atmosphere in the Palace.
Meteorite's crisp steps echo in the hall. She stands beside him.
"Well, Meety, looks like the trip to Earth will have to wait."
She presses her lips together when his glow crackles.
"For me, anyway." His eyes' sharpness betrays his playful tone of regret.
"Sire?"
"You're going to Earth. Someone has to play the king." He presses his palm onto the wall. "Have fun, Meety, but not too much fun."

A special thank you to @Raf780 for the inspiration for this snippet! <3
For more adventures of Meety, the Moon, and friends (or foe?), you can click on over to my short story collection, A Shot in the Dark. It's a two-part story titled "The Lunar Court: Pelonitra." (They were previously published in a standalone book, which I had taken down in an attempt to declutter my works.)
Thank you for reading :)
