Warm slivers of light shine through the swaying palm fronds, its delicate shadows dancing in time with the cool breeze. A round black and white cat stretches her back and strolls across the stone wall with a carefree swish of her tail.

The spotted doves in the grass stop cooing to flap their wings and disappear into the trees of the park across the street.
"Just great," says the woman living in the old rectangular house next to the palm tree. "Of all the days you could have chosen to fall off the hook, you had to pick today. Right now. Really? You know what? I'm going to just leave you there. I'll deal with you later."
