you and chaeyoung, how long?
-
"here." you say as you reach your hand out to give chaeyoung her backpack, which you offered to carry for her as you walk her to the public library this morning. "got everything you need?" you ask her, raising an eyebrow questioningly.
she grinned at you, reaching out to pinch your cheeks before pulling you in for a tight embrace. "yes. i've got you." chaeyoung whispered in your ear, letting out a soft, playful giggle that rang so delightfully good against your ear.
the comment sent you chuckling as well. you shuffled her strawberry blonde hair in a mess before pulling away, showing her your signature lopsided grin that always sends a light blush on her face.
sure enough, chaeyoung did blush, but she only shrugged it off as she leaned in to plant a soft kiss on your cheek. "thanks for walking me here, chu." she says with a sweet smile. "see you at dinner. do good in practice, okay?"
chaeyoung winked as she entered the public library, leaving you standing by yourself outside. you watched her eagerly scan the books in one of the shelves through the glass windows, her hazelnut eyes radiating sunshine and warmth.
you felt your lips tug to your eyes before deciding to turn around and head for your volleyball practice, which you realize you're now running really late for.
-
"dawg."
you hear a familiar voice from behind, causing you to turn around only to be met with a sealed bottle of water flying towards your direction. your fast reflexes caused you to easily catch the bottle in your hands. turning its cap, you took a huge gulp.
"so," you realize that the voice was lisa's, your teammate whom you can safely call one of your close friends, as she strolled towards your direction with a huge knowing grin. you raise an eyebrow, but she only wrapped her arm around your shoulders playfully. "jeongyeon just told me about this new club that's opened three blocks away, and i was thinking we should go grab a drink tonight."
you chuckled, putting the bottle's cap back on before throwing it at the side and reaching for a towel inside your duffle bag.
"i already told you i'm not into you that way, limario." you teased, earning a smack from your laughing ash-haired teammate.
"ass." lisa said as she hit your head with little force. "say that in front of my girlfriend, 'cause seriously, i think it'd be interesting to see her clawing your face off."
you stuck your tongue out at lisa as you started to gather all of your equipment and carelssly shove them inside your gym bag. "nah. tzuyu loves me too much."
you hear lisa mimick your tone before gathering her stuff up as well. "but seriously, chu. are you down? tzuyu specifically said to bring you 'cause she doesn't trust me being left alone with jeongyeon's company." you see her scratch her head a little as she spoke. "i think her exact words were, 'if that son of a devil urges you to cheat on me with some other slut, i will haunt you both down and kill you with my bare hands.'"
the statement had you laughing out loud, causing a few heads to turn towards you and lisa's spot at the gymnasium bleachers. of course that's something tzuyu would say.
you were just about to respond when your phone suddenly chimed inside your bag. fishing it out, you saw that it was a text from your best friend, so it didn't even take you a second to open it and read what it says.
chaeyoung: hey, chu! prof said he'll be dismissing us early. do you have plans after practice? i was thinking we catch a movie tonight if you don't. let me know. xx
as you read the text, you didn't notice a smile unconsciously forming on your face, causing lisa to raise an eyebrow suspiciously at you. you also didn't notice her peeking at the small screen in your hands to snoop, and right after she did, she let out a teasing chuckle.
"ahh, i'm guessing you're gonna say no to me now, aren't you?" lisa said, playfully wiggling her eyebrows at you.
you roll your eyes at her before looking back down to type in a reply. "yeah. i'd rather watch some cringey romcom film with chaeng than to get stuck with you and jeong's annoying asses all night." you said as you continuously typed away. "and i'm texting tzuyu, too. i'm sure you're just gonna tell her i'd come with even if i wouldn't."
jisoo: sure. what time does your class end? i'll pick you up.
lisa's teasing voice suddenly echoed your ear once again, causing you to look up at her with a glare.
"damn, romeo. calm down. chaeyoung has feet, she can go home by herself." the thai said with an annoying smirk plastered on her face. you ignored her as you started walking towards the locker rooms to shower, a laughing lisa following close behind. "speaking of which though. you and chaeyoung, how long?"
the question had you raising an eyebrow. "what do you mean? we've been roommates since freshman year."
lisa chuckled. "so you've been dating since freshman year? damn, i didn't know you'd be sticking around with just one girl for four straight years. color me shocked."
your eyes widened at the thai's statement, causing you to whip your head towards her direction in an instant.
"what?" you asked, surprise clear in your voice. "chaeng and i aren't dating, you pinhead."
now, it's lisa's turn to widen her eyes at you in confusion. "wait- seriously?" she asked, eyebrows furrowing as she pointed an accusing finger towards you. "you're not shitting around like you always do, are you? 'cause it's not cool denying your relationship to people. it'd upset your girl to hell and back. i'm telling you, chu, take it from me."
you frowned, eyebrows scrunching the same way as lisa's as you stared at her confusedly. "i'm not kidding, lali. she's my best friend."
"pft. wait, no shit. are you for real?" lisa asked, realization slowly hitting her as seconds pass. "damn, so like, the entire campus believes in something that's not even true? i mean everyone's even jealous of you and chaeyoung's relationship, whatsoever."
okay, so you didn't know that. "people think we're dating?"
lisa scoffed in disbelief at your obliviousness.
"yuh-huh. why do you think no one asks either of you out for the previous years?" true. but you only wondered that for chaeyoung, since she's undeniably pretty and you're not, (as you often like to believe.) "i mean even i, the coolest best friend ever, thought that you two were actually an item."
you rolled your eyes at lisa. "where'd you even get the idea that we're dating?" you ask as you felt your phone vibrate inside your bag once again, so you reached for it in an instant. "and you're not my best friend, idiot. chaeng is."
turning it on, you see that it was a reply from the blonde. you immediately opened it, missing the way lisa sent an offended glare towards your spot.
chaeyoung: 4 pm. but you don't have to pick me up anymore. your practice ends at 3, right? just head straight to the apartment and get some rest.
"well, you two are just so domestic with each other, you know? you even walk her to class and pick her up like she can't walk for the life of her. oh, and don't even get me started on how she's present in literally every single one of our games even if she has exams like the next day." lisa said, immediately holding you back from typing a reply to chaeyoung's text message, slowly realizing how well your idiot of a teammate is actually making sense. "i won't even be surprised anymore if you two have already memorized each other's schedules for the entire year."
the statement caused you to re-read the text that chaeyoung sent you just now, feeling your heart beat erratically inside your chest.
well, it's not like lisa's wrong.
