5. Happiest Woman On Earth

We came to the mall looking like bitches. And if i say so myself, we were hot bitches. Like boy-killer hot. And I can't say I didn't like it.

So we thought, since we already look the part, why not act the part? I'll give Alessia some credit. I could understand why she was like this. The power, the feeling, and the way people stare at you. It was mesmerizing. But hey, don't get any thoughts. I mean this was all for good fun, right?

"Thanks, hon." I said, as I patted the cheek of the smoothie guy. And just to be rebellious, I gave him a wink.

"Mer, if I wasn't your best friend I would have actually mistaken you as one of 'them'!" She giggles.

"Eww, did you see that guys face when you winked at him?" Which obviously ended up making me laugh.

"Thanks? But come on! Look at your face Lynn, you could get a hundred of them with that smile." I replied back.

"Um, okay no way. I could get a million. I mean as you said, look at this!" She said gesturing to her face. I laughed.

"Ok, don't make me laugh anymore! I swear I'm going to choke and it'll be all your fault." I warned. My eyes flickered around searching for somewhere to shop.

"Where do you want to go?" I said, giving up. I usually didn't shop. I was more of a online shopper. It was so addicting. Once upon a time, I had to take a session with a therapist to minimize my doing. It was so embarrassing.

"Oh! Lets go to Sport Tech. I want to buy some new running shoes." I nodded.

"Do you still run?" I use to run all the time with Lynn. We would get up at 6am to run. Then I stopped. My mom didn't want anything happening.

"Of course I do! Got to keep this body in shape!" She exclaimed.

"Hey um. Can I come with you?" I was getting better. It wasn't that bad anymore. I could manage!

"Come with me? Running?" I nodded.

"Sure! But what about your uh...conditions?"

"I'm better, and I'm pretty sure I can manage a run." She gave me an are-you-sure face. I'll be fine. I promise! Please!" I begged.

"Okay then. Regular time. 6am." I nodded and gave her a kiss on the cheek.

"Thanks bestie."

"Thank me later. I'm sure your old running shoes don't fit you anymore. All the more reason to go to Sport Tech." She said, speeding up a little. I nodded and joined her pace.

––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

"Blue one or the pink one? The blue one is like super comfy, but pink is in this summer." She said, holding up a blue pair of shoe's in one hand and a pink pair in the other.

"The blue one. Comfort first." I tried on the pink ones, they were not comfortable at all. Running in those for 5 miles would be enough to kill you.

"Good choice. And your buying the grey ones, correct?" I nodded.

"Give 'em to me. I'll pay for this, you buy dinner." There was a 40-year-old looking man across from me. The look he was giving made me want to puke. Ugh, pervert.

I grabbed the shoes and  my purse. I was trying to fish out my credit card when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around expecting Carolyn but meet the eyes of a blonde haired guy instead. Oh and I forgot to tell you. I get scared really easy. So as guessed–I yelped. Like really loudly.

"I'm sorry miss, I didn't mean to scare you!" The boy said. Oh god this was so embarrassing...

"Wait, Meredith, is that–is that you?" I looked up, wondering how he knew my name.

"Oh my god! Daniel Cole!" My face split into a grin. Daniel was my ex-boyfriend. We had a smooth understanding break-up. Daniel still seems pretty epic though.

"Hi! How  are you!" I said, reaching out to hug him. And in that process, I accidentally hit him in the face.

"Oh my god. Are you ok? I'm so sorry!"

"Well I can see you still haven't lost your clumsiness." I laughed. True. So true.

"Um, you look really good! You've grown taller!" The thing that I liked about him was that instead of hot, he was just so adorable. I mean really, tell me you won't fall for those blue-blue eyes.

"Thanks! Wow, Mer! You look absolutely beautiful." I grinned at his compliment and did a little twirl.

"Well, um–it's really nice seeing you again!" He said.

"Yes, it is! I hope everything was fine these last years." I replied.

"Yup. They've been pretty good–uh listen, do you want to come over for dinner sometime? My mom would love seeing you again." Um okay... This was getting weird. We broke up, why would he want to have dinner? With me?

"Um, okay. Sure! What day?" I agreed. Maybe he just wanted to be friends. I mean I would make a totally epic friend.

"Does tomorrow sound good?"

"Sure. Well, see you till then." I gave him one last final wave and left to pay for the shoes. Weird.

–––––––––––––––––––––

"Um hell no! Are you seriously fudging telling me he asked you to eat dinner?"

"At his house." I added.

"Okay, what the hell is wrong with this guy? At his house? I swear, boys are all over you today." She said, flinging her arms up and down in disbelief.

"It's not that bad!" I said defending him.

"Did you seriously just say that? Not that bad?"

"What if he just wants to be friends? I mean he's a nice guy. Maybe he's just looking to make amends!" I suggested. Carolyn crossed her arms and furrowed her brows.

"Mer, I don't know what drama your watching–but in reality, after dating there are no such things as friends. Let alone making amends!" She said angrily, furiously flipping through racks of clothing.

"Carolyn, don't over exaggerate. It's not like I'm going to his house to watch Netflix and cuddle. It's just dinner. Besides, his mom's going to be there." I said, trying to calm Her Royal Craziness down.

"Ok fine. Even if he's not going to sexually harass you–"

"Ewww! Carolyn!"

"Sorry! Even if he isn't, please trust me on this–he definitely has no intention of just being friends." She said, over exaggerating the word friends.

"But Lynn, why would he want to get back together with me? Two years ago he and I both, made it clear that we weren't right for each other!" I said, trying to reason with her.

"And that two years has past! You've both changed! And you are like super hot now! With that body and that dress–oh come on! Do you not see every guy in the room eyeing you right now?" I wiped my head around, and sure enough I met the gross eyes of...ugh.

"Yeah, that's actually a pretty good point... Did I tell you that you would be an awesome lawyer?"

"Eww! No, gross. I prefer a love counsellor." She said as she comically fluffed the ends of her hair.

"Thanks Lynn. Thanks for caring."

"Your welcome. But seriously, even if he gives the slightest hint of going somewhere more than friends... Promise that you'll ditch him. I don't want to see you hurt. And the odds of getting hurt with that guy is way beyond my hurt meter." I laughed.

"If you say so."

–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

By the end of our shopping trip, we have officially bought two bags of cosmetics, five bags per person of clothing, a pair of shoes, and this really weird shirt...

This might seem weird for a girl with anxiety attacks to do that, but my senior year was starting, in one more day! That meant a new start. I didn't want to live in depression or darkness anymore. I wanted to change. Be who I once was, but obviously at least try to change my horrible fashion.

"Ok, remember ditch him as soon as anything is hinted. You promised me!"

"Alright! I understand you! Come over right after? I think at like 7:00?"

"Okay! Bye sucker! See you tomorrow!" She said, driving away. I checked my wrist clock. It was 8:00. Mom was coming home at 12:00. My dad was probably already home.

I took out my keys and plunged them into the lock. I stopped when I heard two voices coming through the door. Huh, seems like mom came home early. I mentally shrugged and opened the door. The male voice is definitely my dad's...but that other voice, it's more higher than my mom. Weird, it reminds me of psycho Alessia's–ohmygod. No way.

I quickly pulled off my shoes and ran towards the living room. And there they were. Their disgusting tongues shoved down each others throats. They were so intoxicated with their–whatever they were doing, they didn't even see me. So out of all the things I could've done, I grabbed the television control then walked to a spot in front of them. Then obviously, obviously–I sat down right in between them.

"So, what's for dinner you asshole." I said neutrally, even giving my dad a little smile.

"Oh my god, Meredith! What are you doing here? Weren't you out shopping with Carolyn?" He said, scurrying up. And pleasingly, I saw fear, and regret shining in his eyes. Well too late for any of that old man.

"Oh you know, I decided to come back. You know, to check on what you were up to. Oh and Camila." I added, turning my head to her.

"Where's Alessia? I wonder she would think of your...extracurricular activities. You know, you hanging out with daddy buttkins over here" I said pointing a finger at my dad. But I wasn't mad at her, I was pretty pissed, but the real person who I wanted to murder was the guy who cheated on my mom.

"What would mom think? You know, about all your late hours, business trips, and work meetings. What would you think would happen? I'm most curious to find out my self!" The friggin' game is on, old man. It. Is. On.

"Meredith, please don't tell your mother! I can't lose her, this was just some stupid fling. I love your mother!"  I turned to Camila and gestured a hand to the door. And gladly, she hurried off.

"If you really loved mom, then why would you do this? Really? Because you love her? Yeah, this totally makes sense."

"I'm so sorry Meredith, please don't tell her!" His voice was now desperate and pleading.

"Now you tell me a good reason why I shouldn't. Then maybe I won't." I snarled at him. He said nothing.

"Exactly! There is not a single reason why I shouldn't tell her! So why shouldn't I!" I screamed, angry and frustrated.

"Because I'm your dad. And I love you." I swear I almost vomited.

"First of all, you aren't even my biological father! Second of all, tell me the last time you did something fatherly. Something that a father was suppose to do. Have you ever been there for me? Or mom? Have you ever been in one situation of my life when I needed actually needed you? And thirdly, do you now how much pain you put mom in? You have never been there for her. And she loves you. You know that right? She still loves you, you sick bastard!" I screamed full on at him. Everything I said, I meant it 100%. Ever last word of it.

"Listen Mer." I flinched.

"I'm not proud of myself. And I hate myself so much. So much. But I love your mother so much, and I can't lose her. Please, I'll do anything. Anything. Just please. Don't tell your mother." Anything. He would do anything. Even though I knew it meant trash, I still knew that he really would do anything. May as well use that.

"Fine then. I won't tell her." I said. And he sighed in relief.

"Thank you so–"

"Under one condition." I interrupted.

"You be the best husband that anyone could be to their wife. You will fulfil her every need, every wish. Make her the happiest woman on earth. Then, I will keep this little mouth shut."
