I wake up the next morning and immediately head to the hospital. My mother is there. She clearly hasn't slept. I hope I love someone that much one day.

"Hey, mom, do you want me to get you breakfast?"

She blinks. "Oh, no, it's fine. Can you sit with your father? Have you eaten?"

"Yeah, I have."

"Okay, I'll be back soon."

"See you." I sit with my father.

He's breathing. He already looks better from when I saw him yesterday. I feel a slight weight lift from my shoulders.

I spend the rest of the day like that. My mother headed home to sleep and freshen up, so I sat with him all day. When she comes back in the late afternoon, I head down to Professor Oak's lab with all the data I collected.

"Oh, hello, Eden. How's your father?"

"Better, I think. I just have these reports to drop off."

"Perfect."

I hand them to him and he looks through them. "Lovely. How is Professor Sycamore?"

"He's good."

"Wonderful. Well, thank you. These are very helpful."

"Okay. See you soon."

"Goodbye, Eden."

I head home. I hope everything turns out okay.

I wake up in the morning to good news.

My dad is awake.

I get my ass down to the hospital and my dad smiles at me.

"Hello, Eden."

"Dad!" I go over and kiss him on the cheek. He pats my arm. "I'm so glad you're awake."

"I am retiring. The doc said the stress did it."

"Good." I smile.

Dad gets back home and I book a flight back to Kalos for the weekend. I'll admit, it's nice being with my family.

I'll also admit I'm missing Professor Sycamore.

The rest of the week goes by. I get on the plane back to Kalos, and within an hour I'm back in Professor Sycamore's lab.

He smiles when he sees me and walks towards me. For a second I think he's going to hug me but he shakes my hand instead.

"Good to have you back."

I smile and get back to work. I strangely feel too awkward to say anything.

It feels so good to be back.

I get about researching. I know I'm going to have to start travelling all over Kalos very soon, I lost quite a bit of time. For now, I let Dawn sleep while I write about my feelings.

That evening, I finish late. Professor Sycamore notices how dark it is outside.

"Will it be safe for you to go home by yourself? You don't know who's about at this time of night." He says.

"It should be fine." I say. Frankly I'm quite nervous of being about at this time.

"No, no, I'll walk you home. I'd worry about you otherwise."

I smile. "Thank you."

I gather my stuff and he waits for me. In all honesty, as we walk home, I'm grateful he's there. He's not exactly intimidating but I know he'd throw hands if it came to it.

We stop outside my apartment. "Thank you, Professor."

"That's okay. Goodnight, Eden."

"Goodnight."
