Star's POV

I woke up to pounding on my door. I looked at my alarm clock. 4:15 AM. What do they want? Groggily I got out of bed. Quickly changing into a rainbow splash tee shirt, ripped jean shorts, fluffy red socks and my white inukshuk beanie from Whistler, is what the tag said and slipping my sunglasses on top of my head.

I opened the door to only getting shot repeatedly with NERF guns and kids laughing. Quickly I shut the door, grabbed my belt and drawstring bag and climbed out the window.I started to run to the offices.

What I told Max was true, I was trying out for the track team, but I don't want them to come here.

One, the front entrance smells of cigarettes and sadness. If sadness has a scent.

Two, if he knew that she put out her cigarette on kids shoulders, and other parts of exposed skin, they would shut it down quickly making all the other orphans HATE my guts.

And three... I don't want to get adopted at the moment... I'm fine the way I am right now. I have almost NO limits to the stuff I want to do... But if Max adopts me... He won't let me patrol, work for the police station, go out on my own... He would never let me. So I'm fine and I don't need to get adopted. Right?

"Morning Star!" Adam greeted as I ran towards him.

"Hey Adam!" I said running up to him giving him a hug.

"Oh Star your going on a girls day out with Alesa, Shelby, Jess and Julia today! Also Em is going to be joining you! I gave her the day off. Alesa is picking you up later," Adam said as we made our way up the stairs towards Em's empty desk.

"Okay! I actually want to get a hair cut! It's toooooooo loooooooong!" I say drawing out the O's in too and long. Adam chuckled as I followed him to his office.

"So people have been asking for us to add you to our Pokemon stream series! Do you want to?" Adam asked as my eyes lit up.

"I LOVE POKEMON! YESYESYESYESYESYESYESYES!" I say eagerly jumping up and down.

"Okay we'll be streaming when you get back from school sometimes! I'll join you in on... I'll have to ask Em about that one..." Adam said as more people came.

"HERREOW? HERROOOOOOOW!" Someone called at the entrance. I ran out to see Murx, Runk and TimTam walking in.

"MORNING!" I said walking over to them. Max looked extremely tired, Ross looked ecstatic, and Tim... Was being Tim. I giggled at there... Differentness... If that's even a word...

"Ugh morning people..." Max said tiredly walking over to the editors area.

"What ever Mux I'm leaving later today anyway!~" I said walking past him as Alesa walking in.

"WHAT! Where are you going!?!?" Max questioned fully awake now.

"Out! I'm going out on a girls day. WIT DA GURLS! So I'll see you tomorrow! BAI MAX! HI ALESA!" I said switching my gaze from Max to a laughing Alesa.

"Okay got everything?" She asked and I nodded "Okay les go after a give Mason to Adam for the day. ADAM GET OVER HERE! Okay Mason go find Daddy! Max give Adam Mason's bag for me thanks! K BYE!"

"Alesa? Can I get my hair cut and dyed back to its original colour? My 'dad' left me hanging upside down with the top of my head in hair dye and it permanently stained my hair, scalp, head," I said as she looked at me with PITY in her eyes. I hate getting given pity! I'm not a baby! Give your pity to someone who wants it.

"Sure! I'm thinking about re-dying mine anyway! What colour?" She asked as she unarmed her car.

"It used to be a light scarlet red. Since it reminded him of my mom he dyed it," I said sitting in the back seat as Alesa drove us somewhere.

We pulled up to a mall. It was giant! Alesa stopped and got out when we found a parking spot. It was extremely sunny for mid November... I slid my sun glasses over my eyes as I followed Alesa inside towards the food court.

We sat and chatted for a while. I told her about yesterday and about the Rift. She was about to say something when a small squeal was made and small arms wrapped around me.

"Hi Julia~" I sang as I stood up picking her up to see Jess (of course), Shelby and Em. "Hai gals! Where to first?" I asked looking up at them.

"Well you said you wanted you hair done dittily did! So TO THE SALON!" Alesa (Alessandro wth auto correct!?!?) said getting up as we went and navigated to mall.

~After blindly navigating the mall for 20 minutes~

"Do you even know where it is Alesa?" I questioned as we stopped and scoped out the area. After a while ago I started to carry Julia since she looked tired.

"YES! Wait no.... WAIT OVER THERE!" Alesa said running over to a store front with many hair styles and colours posted on the windows.

"FINALLY!" We all cheered as I put Julia down walking over to the front desk with Alesa.

~Time Skip to after a hole lot of girly stuff I have no idea is~

I was feeling confident in my new hair colour. It just suited me better than my old jet black hair. They had to bleach my hair so that sucked. It smelled horrible and I couldn't move.

"GURL WE BE GOIN' OUT AND LOOKIN' FINE!" Shelby squealed as we pulled up to the offices. Em had to go home. Jess and Julia had to get back to Jason and Joseph, Shelby rode with Jess she came to the offices with me and Alesa.

"WE'RE BACK!" Alesa called as all of the guys trample eachother trying to get to the main room. They were looked exhausted up very happy. I hid behind Alesa since my hair is a different colour now... I thought they might freak out... so I stayed hidden behind Alesa.

"HEY! HELP US WITH MASON PLEASE!" I heard Adam yell. I looked around Alesa and to Adam. He, and some other guys, had marker and paint smeared all over their faces. I bit my lip since it looked hilarious. Max, Ross, Red and Adam had art supplies stuck to their faces like tape and glitter.

"MUMMY!" Mason yelled running over and hugging Alesa's legs.

"Hi Mason. Were you good for Daddy?" Alesa asked kissing his forehead.

"I was! Look I turned Uncle Max, Uncle Red, Uncle Ross and Daddy into MASTERPIECES!" He squealed happily.

"I can see..." Alesa said whipping out her phone quickly taking pictures of the grown men covered in pink, shining glitter. I couldn't take it anymore and me, Shelby and Alesa burst out laughing loudly.

"What you la- WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR HAIR!" Max shouted and I immediately stopped laughing.

"You don't like it?" I asked quietly backing away.

"No I don't like it."

I closed my eyes and all I heard was a very loud slap.
