PART 3 (old)

I was scrolling through my phone, desperate to look busy and mysterious. In fact, that's what I was good at; being mysterious. Though, it seemed like I actually had to force myself to be it around Matteo. I don't know why, but it was like my whole mind and soul and all my vulnerability open upped when he was around.

I wasn't the girly, high-pitched scream, innocent person. Not even a little bit. I was chill, poetic and a bit grumpy. However, for some reason my personality had changed drastically over the couple of hours we spent at the pool, and now the pizzeria.

I just hope I'll be myself again when I get home.

"You see, I don't think he likes me anymore, you know?" Casey sat to my right, babbling on about her boyfriend problems. She talked to some of the boys that'd come with us to eat. They didn't seem that interested (which was understandable) but they were all polite enough to keep listening to her.

To my left sat Amelia. She was eating her pizza slice slowly, sort of leaning my way. I sneaked my head around her and saw that a boy was talking to her. He had long blond hair and sparkling blue eyes. A wide smile was plastered on his lips and he looked way to flirty for his own good. He was twirling a strand of Amelia's dark blond hair in his fingers.

I smirked at the sight. Amelia didn't even like guys. Especially not when they flirted with her. But I wouldn't help her out. Me, Don and Casey had sworn an oath that we would never help Amelia out of one of these situations (except for when it was a creepy situation). One day she has to learn how to do it herself, right?

Don was all across the table from me (not showing any sign of social anxiety), talking loudly with some of the guys about soccer, Matteo included. He didn't look that pleased though. While Don and the others were laughing and chatting about different games, Matteo just sat there like a lost puppy. I didn't blame him though. I was never really a fan of soccer either.

What felt like hours went by, and I started to miss my house. There were too many people in a way too small place for my liking. When Don got up from his chair and told everyone he had to get home, I pulled my chair out so fast that it almost fell. In one blink all eyes were on me.

"I got to go home as well. Don, you were gonna give me a ride?" I flashed him a smile.

"Uhm, no I don't think we said that ..."

"Yes we did. Don't you remember? I don't have a bike."

"But I live like a mile away from you." I took in a deep breath at his words and his cluelessness. I was going to say something but I was interrupted.

"I can give you a ride if you want to?" slowly I turned my eyes to Matteo who looked at me with kind eyes. My heart melted as I felt my knees go numb.

"No, that's really not necessary! I need to get home now, and Don was going to give me damn ride." I said while Don snickered.

"I'm kind of tired anyway, just get your stuff and we'll go." Matteo got up from his chair and put his jacket on. His hair was messy and stood out in all different places, after being wet.

Someone nudgedthe side of my stomach and I looked down at Casey. Her eyes were big as shetried to hold in her grin. I rolled my eyes, but had just as hard of a time asher trying not to smile.
