Chapter 27

"I was about half in love with her by the time we sat down. That's the thing about girls. Every time they do something pretty... you fall half in love with them, and then you never know where the hell you are." - J. D. Salinger

XXVII.

Seijuro Akashi.

What comes to mind when you hear, read or mention the name?

I know the words that could describe such man is a never ending list.

But for me, there is only one word that could describe him.

"He drugged me!" I whined to my grandfather whilst moving a shogi piece on the board. I let out an exasperated breath and ran my fingers through my messy hair, which was long ruined by the wind blowing every so often. But I cared less about it at the moment.

Grandpa chuckled and shook his head at me as if I have no hope in life. "It's not like he killed you or anything, Rika," He said nonchalantly as he took his turn and shifted his gaze on me. "He only drugged you."

I raised an eyebrow. "That's the point!" I cried out and crossed my arms just as I finished my move. "He drugged me! God, why does he have to do such a thing?"

Grandpa only shrugged. "Who knows?" He smiled as he promoted another pawn. "You know that your boyfriend is clever, Rika. Who knows what's running on his mind."

"He's crazy," I blurted out with a pout and moved the bishop to capture his general.

"Crazy for you." He said while wiggling his eyebrows then he reached out to poke my side just to tease me.

I flinched and gave him a small glare. "Stop it, grandpa," I warned him and sighed. "Anyways, is that a song reference?" I asked him blankly.

"Nope, sweetheart. I'm just enlightening you," He said with a laugh as he glanced at the board and made his next move. "Just keep in mind that he is your boyfriend and he would not do anything nasty to you." He gave me a teasing smile. "Unless you want him to do the nasty with--"

"Grandpa!" I screeched and I feel my face heat up in sheer embarrassment. "You're only making things worse!"

Grandpa laughed at my reaction. "I'm just kidding, Rika, calm down."

I gave him a pout as I made my move on the board. "Yuta-kun will find me," I mumbled instinctively and my eyes widened at the realization. I shifted my worried gaze towards my grandfather who only gave me a smirk in response.

"I don't think so." He disagreed and shook his head.

"I'm still mad at him for what he's done, grandpa, but I don't think that--"

"He won't attempt or even dare think of finding you, Rika." Grandpa emphasized and I was left perplexed at his words.

"B-But why?"

"Hmm," He cleared his throat as he shifted his gaze from afar as if he was deep in thought. "Let's just say that finding you means digging out his own grave." He gave me an innocent smile and made his move. "Rika," He called out.

"What?"

He smirked. "Checkmate."

My eyes widened in bewilderment and looked down at the shogi board. "What?" I exclaimed and frowned at my grandfather. "I'm handicapped, grandpa!" I reasoned out, trying to give justice to my loss.

Grandpa stuck his tongue out to me. "Not my fault you have a Yandere boyfriend."

I shut my eyes and groaned in frustration. I lied on the green grass and huffed out a breath. "Grandpa..." I mumbled but loud enough for him to hear.

"What?" He asked, the tone of triumph was clear in his voice.

"I hate you..."

He chuckled. "I know, sweetheart." He informed me and I assume that he was arranging the shogi pieces back to their starting positions. "Well, good luck to you, Rika."

I sat up and gave him an 'are you serious?' look. "That's it, grandpa? You're not going to give me any advises?"

Grandpa raised an eyebrow as he started playing by himself. "Yeah, like what?"

"I don't know, maybe an escape route or something?"

"Yeah, and go where?"

I instinctively curled up into a ball and snuggled inside the thick blankets. It was cold in the room, that made me wake up. I slowly sat up and rubbed my tired eyes and later on I sneezed and sniffed. My eyes wandered across the large room and it looked like some mansion's guest room. I shifted my gaze towards the nightstand, a tray of breakfast food and note was resting on it.

I grabbed the note and the glass of water and took a sip as I focused my gaze on the letters written in a neat handwriting in the piece of paper.

"Eat. And behave while I'm gone."

I gulped the water and lied the paper on the nightstand. I guess he's gone to school.

And I was supposed to be studying as well but my parents gave me a break.

My eyes stopped on the clock beside and it read 8:04 am then under the time was the date, December 18th.

December 20th...

How long was I asleep? I can't remember.

I sighed and pushed the thought aside. I grabbed the tray of food and put it on my lap then suddenly remembered what he did to me.

He drugged me...

I frowned and instantly lost the appetite.

No, I'm just joking. I would never reject food.

But I guess he won't do it again. I mean, he drugged me for a reason. And that was to kidnap me, technically.

Kidnap?

Will you look that word up in the dictionary?

"Kidnapping is taking away of a person against that person's will, usually to hold the person unlawfully." I mumbled to myself as I stuff the delicious waffles inside my mouth.

Take that, subconscious.

Oh, really? Is it really against your will?

I didn't retort to my own thoughts and just finished my food.

Is it against my will?

I brushed the stubborn knots off my hair using my fingers and pushed the covers off of me then looked at myself on the full-body mirror. As if on cue, the door opened that made my head snap back at the intruder.

"Good morning, Yurika-sama!" A violet-head beamed and gave me a grin.

I gave her a light nod of my head and a wry smile in return. "Good morning..."

"My name is Kisa," She gave me a wink and chuckled. "My, you didn't changed a bit. Just your hair got a little longer!"

I tilted my head to the side. "Kisa?"

"Does the name ring a bell?"

I shook my head. "No, not really."

Kisa shrugged. "Hmm, figures." She walked towards me and grabbed my wrist then dragged me inside the bathroom.

"H-Hey!"

"Take a bath, young miss, we're going somewhere fun." She informed me with that excited grin of hers.

"What is it?" I tilted my head to the side in confusion.

"Somewhere fun." She repeated then winked at me and before I could protest, she closed the door on me. "I'll be prepping too!" She shouted and I heard the door close.

I sighed deeply and shook my head, not having a choice but to do what she told me. I took a bath for exactly 15 minutes and wore something that could keep me warm.

I opened the door and there revealed Kisa who instantly grinned when she saw me.

"Where are we going?" I asked but she only shook her head at me.

"I'm going to help you buy a present!" Kisa beamed, her eyes sparkling.

My mouth went ajar for a moment. "What? Present for whom?"

"Oh, you still don't know?" She asked me back and I raised an eyebrow in question. "It's young master's birthday in 2 days!" She exclaimed in delight.

2 days from now is December 20th. Is that the reason why such date crossed in my mind?

Okay, let me get this straight. This person with the name of Seijuro Akashi drugged me and took me to Kyoto against my will. I should be panicking right now, though. And right after I wake up, his maid practically forced me to buy a birthday present for him.

I shook my head in disagreement. "You don't understand, Kisa, he--"

I didn't had the chance to finish my sentence when she dragged me on the hallway and out of the elegant mansion.

It was quite a wonder as to why I didn't see just a glimpse of Akashi-kun's parents but Kisa said that his mother died when he was younger. I felt pity for him but I know he doesn't need pity. His father was out of the country for some business. Which reminds me, my father is, too. He's pretty competitive.

Kisa used to work for my parents but she resigned after my accident. How she ended up working for the Akashi family? She left that to my imagination.

"I can't think of anything to give him." I admitted as I sat on the bench, tired of walking. "And why would I even bother?"

"That's why I'm here, young miss," Kisa stated and sat beside me. "How about a pair of scissors?"

I gave her an 'are you crazy or just crazy?' look. And she only smiled foolishly in response.

"How about a cute puppy?" I smiled as I imagined Akashi-kun with a brown puppy.

"Uh, nope. Seijuro-sama hates dogs."

"What? Is he crazy? Dogs are adorable!"

"He hates dogs because they disobey him."

I groaned and leaned on my seat. I stared at the snow that was slowly falling to the ground and my fingers suddenly went up to my neck to adjust my red scarf.

"How about... a scarf?" I mumbled to myself but it was not safe from Kisa's ears.

"That's a great idea, young miss! You can knit the scarf yourself!" She exclaimed and smiled to brightly.

I frowned at her. "But I don't know how to knit." I stated blankly.

She pouted and shook her head in disappointment. "Heiresses." She mumbled to herself and my frown widened. "Okay, I'll teach you how to knit."

"It's so troublesome. Why don't we just buy a scarf?"

"Seijuro-sama won't appreciate a thing that's not made from the heart. He believes that things like those..." she trails off as her lips form a mirth smile.

"What?" I asked for her to continue.

"Things like those are better off in the trash bin." she finished off with a laugh, which made me frown. "So it's better if you knit it yourself, Yurika-sama."

I stared at her with an impassive expression and sighed. "Fine."

She clasped her hands together. "Great! Come on, let's go buy some dozen balls of yarn!"

She stood up then offered her hand to me and I stared at her face that was warm and welcoming. I accepted her hand and she immediately yanked me up to my feet. We started walking away to buy the materials needed to knit a scarf.

He kidnapped me yet here I was, making a birthday present for him. How ironic.

"Your stitch is too loose, young miss!"

"That one is too tight!"

"Good job, young miss! You're slowly getting it!"

"Not bad."

We will also bake a cake for him and I'm still thinking about the flavor. After a few hours of Kisa teaching me how to knit properly, I thanked her and insisted on letting me do the rest.

While I was knitting and humming on the Final Emperor, my heart got caught up on my throat when I heard a seductive voice ring through my ears.

"What are you doing?"

And right after I heard his voice, I instantly decided the flavor of cake I'd bake for him.

Because it suits him well.

And for me, it's also the perfect word that could describe him.
