The Girl
It feels like a year has passed since I've opened the door, this moment couldn't feel worse. I stood there as the daughter of my moms boss stood infront of me, her long powder blue hair blew in the wind.
"Hi, nice to meet you," her voice was gentle, but somehow her words had a sterness behind them, "My name is Katelyn, you must be Laurence, my father told me what your mother said, you seem interesting enough." My mom said good things about me? the one time she'll ever compliment me is to try and shove me off like a show dog, wow that's very appreciative.
"That's right," I say motioning to let her in, she happily enters with a smile on her face, with the whole ensemble she looks like she's a real spoiled sport.
"So this is you're home?" she asks looking around, it's like she's analyzing the room and she's picking up some of the objects.
"Uh, no. I live down the street actually, I bought out the whole block and I'm just kinda here," I say trying to deter her, but she only laughs and nods it off.
"You're mother said you were a jokester." she says taking a seat, looking straight at me, "So tell me about yourself."
Tell her about myself? How does one do that? (literally any guy on a first date ever)
I start talking to her and she smiles the whole time, she actually likes me, what is happening, I shouldn't be this charming, I can't help but feel bad, Lucinda is probably worried about me this whole time, she might here this girl giggling and think I'm leaving her. But honestly, as that thought crosses my mind, I can feel as if there's a set of eyes burning a hole in the back of my head. I turned around to see her head poking out from edge of the hallway, I mean, I know she's worried, but isn't this out of hand.
Katelyn happen's to see her and looks over, "Oh, hello there," she says seeing her, "Laurence's mother mentioned he had a sister. Why don't you come join us?"
Lucinda blushes and walks over. She's so skiddish, she's not sure what to do.
"Uh Katelyn," I say, I just have to correct her, she needs to know, "This isn't my sister, this is Lucinda, my girlfriend."
Katelyn looks at me startled, in all her researsh of me, she didn't hear this little tidbit.
"Grilfriend?" she asks, "Your mother told me you were single, she did not mention a girlfriend."
"And that's because she doesn't know," I inform her, "My mother isn't even able to ask me the time of day, more or less if I'm seeing anyone because she's working for your father. This is the part where I have to reject her standpoint of me marrying you. I only love my girlfriend, I'm not marrying someone off the fact that I'm being told to, so you might as well leave."
Katelyn stands up quickly, her face red with anger, "Excuse me!" she screamed, her voice was no longer gentle or innocent, this meant business, this just furthers the fact she's a daddy's girl. "I am loking for someone to marry and your mother said you were available, now say you will!" Her voice now just sounds shrill, like she's a child.
"I said no," I say standing my ground, Lucinda looks at me and smiles hearing my words.
"W-well fine!" Katelyn screams, "Then lets see how much your mom is gonna like it when I tell my dad you're a jerk."
"Go ahead," I say, "I don't care, I'll be fine."
She puffs her cheeks in rage as she storms out and gets in the car that brougth her here, it peels out of the driveway which shows the driver is terrified of her.
I watched as it went down the street and I feel two arms wrapped around me.
"Thank you....," Lucinda says holding onto me, "I didn't want to lose you...."
I turn around and hug her, pulling her close, "I would never do that to you. I'm not leaving you."
