As soon as Kyle's parents found out that I hadn't seen him, they started panicking. They went to the police, and they put up flyers, desperately trying anything. They even went around asking people if they knew anything. Meanwhile, school started again, so I was pretty preoccupied most of the time. I still worried so much, I missed him, and I wanted him to come home. I didn't talk much to my mom anymore. I didn't think I could put how I was feeling into words. It felt like something inside me was gone, like there was a hole inside me, consuming my happiness. I felt hollow, empty. I distracted myself with school and my schoolwork, and my few friends. One night, in the beginning of autumn, my phone beeps with a text, it's from Kyle.
Kyle: Riley?
Me: Kyle?! You're finally answering me! Oh my god, where have you been?Why didn't you answer me?
Kyle: I can't talk. I need you to meet with me. Fast.
Me: Ok, where?
Kyle: Our favorite spot.
