       "Riley! Get up!" I heard my mom yell. "I'm coming!" I yelled back. I slowly sat up, hating myself for staying up so late. I swung my legs over the side of my bed, and slowly stood up. "Ugh I hate getting up." I muttered as I made my way to the bathroom. I took a quick shower and walked downstairs. I was delighted to smell pancakes cooking, and I followed my nose into the kitchen. "Hey Mom." I said as I walked to the fridge. "Hey sweetie, glad to see you finally got up." Mom said as she scooped a few pancakes onto a plate. "Where's Dad?" I asked, digging through the fridge for some orange juice. "He left early." Mom said as she scooped the last pancake onto the plate. "Will you grab the butter while your digging in there?" She asked, walking towards the pantry. I grabbed the butter and the orange juice from the fridge and set them on the table. Mom had already set the table, and was scooping half the pancakes onto her plate. We ate breakfast with little talking, and as soon as I finished, I ran upstairs to get ready for school.
   "Hurry up Riley! You don't want to be late for the first day of high school do you?" Mom yelled at me. I ran downstairs, grabbed my bag, and ran outside to the bus. The bus was mostly empty, not a lot of high schoolers lived on this road. The bus ride was quiet, and we got to the school pretty fast.
