Twelve
Olivia's POV:
"Its eyes were glowing." Scott says as Mr. Argent explained to Isaac, Scott, Allison and I about dealing with the ninjas years ago in Japan during his first deal.
"There was something almost ritualistic about it. Like it was looking right into his soul." Mr. Argent says while Allison helped tend his wounds.
"That's the same thing it did to me, back at the party." Isaac muttered, feeling the back of his ear.
"That's what it did to everyone." Allison points out, momentarily glancing at me before looking back to clean the wound.
"Not everyone though. They only came after the werewolves." Scott says but I shake my head.
"Me and Lydia too." I add and rub my arms nervously. "It was terrifying."
"Anyone with a connection to the supernatural." Argent clarifies for us.
"Then who was the guy they went after in Japan?" Isaac asks, going back to the story Argent was telling us.
"A kumicho, a yakuza boss. It was my first gun deal." He explains but winces as soon as Allison wipes the cut on his face. "I was only eighteen and it was supposed to be a simple exchange, except Gerard left out the minor detail of the buyers being yakuza."
I scoff. "Let me guess, he wanted to test you?"
"He wanted to see if I could adapt in the moment. Testing my ability to improvise."
"Or your ability to survive." Allison mutters before grabbing another cotton ball.
"The moment the sun went down it was like they just materialized out of the shadows." He says and instantly I got flashbacks of the ninja menacingly walk over to Allison with it's sword as she shot the arrow. "They had swords, not curved like katanas but straight, black steel. Like ninjatos."
Scott crosses his arms. "What did they want?"
"To get to the kumicho."
The sound of the sword piercing through her stomach makes me and the screams that escaped from my lips echoed in my mind, causing my hands to slightly shake in remembrance of her blood staining my hands as I tightly pressed against her wound in attempt to stop the bleeding.
"They cut down every living thing in their way." Argent brushes his thumb behind his ear.
"Did they mark him like they did us?" Isaac inquired.
He shakes his head. "Not exactly. When they finally made it to him, the three of them used their swords an tore into him, his razor sharp teeth and silver glowing eyes becoming now visible from where I laid."
I gulp. "What was he?"
"I don't know," He breathes out. "but there might be someone who does. There were a few others who survived that night, one of them was a man named Katashi. They called him Silverfinger because of a unusual prosthetic, and it looked like he was getting ready to take them all on himself. I've known for a while Katashi was in the country. I spent yesterday tracking him down."
Isaac gestures towards Argent's bruises and the cut on his face. "Didn't look like he wanted to be found."
I smack his leg with a glare. "Dude."
"What? I'm not wrong."
I roll my eyes and stand up from the chair to walk over to Argent. I place my hand over the huge cut that Allison was tending and focus my energy to heal his wound.
Scott leans forward. "You think he knows what they are? Or what they want?"
I pull my hand away to see the cut on his face was gone, smiling in satisfaction since this was the first time I actually helped him out.
"Maybe." Argent spoke, feeling for the spot where his wound previously was before standing up from his chair.
"What if he doesn't want to talk?" Allison asks from behind.
"What if he doesn't even remember you?" Isaac adds and the last bit of hope I had, slowly dies down.
Argent opens the box that was displayed on his desk. "He'll remember this." He removes the cloth from inside, showing the shattered masks I recognized that belonged to the ninjas. "I know I didn't kill it, I'm not sure you can. But I slowed it down long enough for us to get out of there."
I hesitantly grab two pieces of the shattered mask and hold them together.
One of his bullets slowed it down? How?
The memories of being surrounded by the ninjas in Allison's room rushed in my mind, immediately remembering how I felt completely numb as I stared into its eyes.
"What was behind the mask?" I ask and look back up to Argent.
"Darkness," He says and worriedly looks to his daughter. "absolute darkness."
Scott had to leave for school since he knew Melissa would grill him for staying out all night or if he missed a day of school without a proper reason.
I decided to stay since I wanted to know more about stopping the ninjas. I didn't know how long I had until that night actually happens, so I needed to learn more about them fast.
I tried getting Isaac to go with Scott, but he insisted to stay with me since he didn't want to leave me by myself in case I got hurt again.
"The real problem is Katashi doesn't see visitors. Ever. He's a paranoid recluse who rarely steps outside the gates of his estate." Argent says and Isaac leans against his desk.
"So how are you going to get to him?"
"He's got a thing for rare, antique weapons. Yesterday, I had some contacts put out the word that I was selling one from my own collection." Argent opens the cabinet behind him and pulls out a glass case to reveal an antique pistol.
"Should I be worried that he still doesn't like me and could potentially use that on me?" I whisper to Allison who chuckles at my expression. "I'm not kidding."
"This is a French Flintlock Turnover Pistol from 1645." He explains, placing the case on the desk.
Allison wraps her arm around mine and leans her head against my shoulder. "You're not going alone."
"If you're going then I'm coming with you." I say glancing down at Allison who nods with a small smile.
"Someone has to keep you out of trouble," Isaac says as he nudged my side. "so I'm coming too."
"To be honest, I don't feel good about bringing either one of you." Argent says as he looks over at the three of us.
"They were looking right at Scott when the sun came up." Isaac crosses his arms.
"Well, that doesn't necessarily mean he's the one they're going after."
"And if he is?" I ask and glance back at the gun. "Then what?"
"It might only leave us till nightfall to come up with a way to protect him."
"All right," I sigh and interlace my hand with Allison's. "guess I'll add this to the list of weird things that happened to me in this town. 'Making a deal with a yakuza to add a gun in his collection' sounds great."

As Allison's father drove us to the location we were supposed to make with the dealers, him and Isaac talked about more stories involving the ninjas and Katashi in the front seat while Allison and I sat in the back.
I was resting my head on her lap since she was mindlessly running her fingers through my hair, which causes me to let out a yawn. "If you keep doing that, I might pass out." I mumble, enough for only her to hear.
"I'll stop if you want."
I look up with a smile. "I never said I didn't like it." I shift a bit to get comfortable and she chuckles.
"Great." Argent scoffs, tossing his phone in the cup holder with frustration.
"What is it?" Allison asks as I sit up from her lap, feeling the car no longer move.
"Katashi won't do the buy in person."
"But he's a paranoid recluse. Shouldn't you be a little less surprised?" Isaac retorts. I reach over and smack the back of his head with a glare. "Hey!"
"I was trying to remain optimistic that we wouldn't have to go to my plan b." He says as he turns to look at the three of us.
I furrow my eyebrows. "And what's plan b?"
"That depends..." He looks between Isaac and I. "How tall are you two?"
The trunk of his car opens which causes my eyes to widen, the cases in the back becoming more visible.
"Why do I have a feeling I'm not gonna like this?"
